Siti looked agitated. He kept staring at the screen of his phone, which he had held in his hand. Even with Batra who was on the bed together with the two of them, he continued to glance at Siti who was sitting on the edge of the bed. Siti looked over and looked at Batra. As if he understood what Siti's gaze meant, Batra was only able to sigh deeply and try to smile to calm his wife.
Tomorrow they will return to Jakarta. After all, Batra could not take off from his work for too long. His wife and children need his responsibilities. Luckily for Batra, he still has annual leave. Therefore, he could take a week off. If not, of course Batra has received a warning letter from his office and threatened to be fired from the office.
Actually Batra could have left Siti and their two children in Padang. It's just, Batra is not up to heart to leave his family. Batra is a very responsible man. He doesn't want to regret it if something happens to his family. Therefore, Batra prefers to stay and have a deal with Siti, to wait for news from Fadli.
"How is this uda, it is night now, but there is no news" said Siti, with a soft-sounding tone.
"Do you need me out of work? To be here to accompany you?" Ask Batra.
"No need for uda. Job remains number one," said Siti, with a face that looks so gloomy.
"But I can't leave you here either" Batra said.
Siti was silent too.
For two days, they rented a cheap inn for the night. All that they did, just to wait for news from Fadli. But as cheap as the cost in the inn, long time will mount as well. While the money in Batra, can only cover for the next two days again.
Ting!
Ting!
Ting!
Suddenly, Siti's phone rang. Quickly, he stared at the screen of his phone and found the name bundo Niar, on the screen of his phone.
"Bundo Niar, da," Siti said.
"Thank you,"
Siti nodded and then received a phone call from Niar's bundo.
"Assalamu'alaikum" Sapa Siti.
"Waalaikumsalam," Sahut bundo Niar from the other end.
"How's bun? Any word from uda Fadli?" Siti who had been waiting for news, did not want to mince words. He immediately questioned the news he was waiting for.
Sounding from the end there, Bundo Niar let out a long sigh. And silence...
"Yes..." Call Siti.
"Yes." Yeah." Sahut bundo Niar's.
"How's bun?" Urge Siti who looks impatient.
"You've come, Siti. But..."
"But what's bun?" Siti kept pressing, to kill her curiosity.
"But you're gone again with his family."
"Bundo ambo's brought in, bun?" Ask Siti.
Bundo Niar was silent. All I heard was a long breath.
"Bun... how about bundo ambo?" Urge Siti.
"Right now, Halimah is in the hospital. He fainted."
"What!" Siti, who was sitting on the edge of the bed, stood up when she heard the news.
While Batra, also surprised when he saw the expression of Siti.
"What's wrong?" Ask Batra.
But Siti did not pay attention to her husband. He only focuses with the Niar bundle that is at the end there.
"Which hospital is bun?"
"Hospitals near the house." Answer bundo Niar.
"Yes already, ambo will be there soon" said Siti.
"What's wrong?" Ask Batra again.
"Da! Da bundo!"
"Bundo why?" Batra looks so anxious.
"What about Fadli?" Ask Batra again.
Situ fell silent for a while and looked at Batra closely.
Even without an answer from Siti, Batra already understood what was going on. So he decided to no longer ask about Fadli.
"Yes, we go to the hospital" Batra said.
The family rushed to the hospital.
.
Siti, Batra, and Bundo Niar, stared at the bundo Halimah who was lying in a hospital bed. Bundo Halimah was not yet conscious, while the day was already early in the morning. Siti who was sitting on a bench that was right next to the patient's bed, seemed to have been sleepy. While the youngest child was already asleep in Siti's sling. Even with his first child, who is now asleep in Batra's sling. Bundo Niar can only look at a couple and their two children with pity.
"You stay at the bundo house again" said Bundo Niar.
Batra just fell silent, as if he was considering many things that were on his mind.
"If not, let Siti and the children return to the inn. Pity your children," said Bundo Niar again.
"But Siti won't bun. He still wants to wait for the unconscious bundo later," replied Batra.
Bundo Niar took a long breath. Then he pulled Batra's hand, to take her out of the room.
"Someone wants to say it to you, Batra," said Bundo Niar.
Batra also looked at Siti who had closed both her eyes. Then he looked back at Niar's bundo closely. Finally Batra decided to follow Niar's bundo, to leave the room.
Outside the room, precisely in the hallway room of the ER room, Batra and Bundo Niar stood face to face. Bundo Niar looked at Batra who looked tired, because he continued to hold his first child who was asleep in Batra's sling.
"You sit down. Let's not be too tired" said Niar bundo, leading Batra to sit with him on the waiting bench.
Batra complies with Niar's bundo request. Then he sat down with the bundo Niar who was now looking at him closely.
"Bundo doesn't know why Halimah dislikes you so much. But as Bundo saw, you are a very good person. Your mother managed to educate you to be a very responsible man. There are not many children like you, in-laws," said Bundo Niar, starting his conversation with Batra.
Batra just smiled wryly. Then he looked at the face of his son who was sleeping in his arms.
"Fadli rejected Halimah. Now, Halimah's only hope is for you. But, of course we have to wait for Halimah to come to her senses first. So that we know, what he wants," said Niar bundo again.
Batra looked at Niar's bundo, then he nodded in understanding.
"Bundo didn't understand why Fadli could be like that. Seeing how dominant his wife was, Bundo became ill-judged." Bundo Niar shook his head, a sign he was not out of thought with Rima, the wife of Fadli.
"Indeed, uni Rima said what, bun?" Tanya Batra, who was now starting to be curious.
Bundo Niar took a long breath. Then he returned Batra's gaze with a concerned look.
"His words were inappropriate, as a daughter-in-law. No need to tell bundo. The point is, Fadli and Rima rejected your bundo. They also do not want to rent a house, or rebuild the house. So, Fadli and Rima, hands off with your bundos." Bright bundo Niar.
Batra moved her teeth. There is a feeling of anger that is now approaching his feelings.
"Fadli was a good and polite boy before. I don't know what made him so changed. Batra, there is nothing bad about sincerity. Now, you are Halimah's hope. Put aside your heartache. Look at him as your own parents. Accept him. Even if you do not accept Halimah, Niar bundo sincerely accepts Halimah in the bundo house."
Batra was still silent. He kept thinking how he could convince the Halimah bundo to come with him.
Batra looked back at the Niar bundo. Then he took a deep breath and lowered his face again.
"Mau Batra, Halimah bundo also joined Batra to Jakarta, bun. But Halimah's bundo won't. Batra could have gone back to Jakarta two days ago. However, Batra chose to hold on and wait for news. But, this incident, was beyond Batra's estimation." Batra Terang.
Bundo Niar understood what Batra meant. He was only able to be silent and come to think, how to convince Halimah.
"Da! Sociable bundo!"
Suddenly, Siti came out of the ER room and reported that Halimah bundo was now conscious. Quickly, Batra and Niar bundo rushed to see Halimah bundo.
Arriving inside, Halimah's bundo was accompanied by a doctor who was examining him. Tears continued to flow from the corner of Halimah's eye. But when he saw the presence of Batra there, he immediately turned his face.
"How's Doc?" Batra asked with a tone of voice that sounded so worried.
"Your mother had a stroke. So, it takes intensive care in the next few days" said the doctor.
Suddenly Batra, Siti and Bundo Niar look weak, when hearing the news conveyed by the Doctor.
"Oh my God, bundo.." Siti started crying.
While Batra, began to be confused with what he would face in the future. Between family and work, which Batra will bet.
