Morning's approaching. The sun seemed to be still timidly revealing its light. Inside a room, three human children were still asleep sharing the same bed and blanket.
Last night, Sheila made some of the officers at her hospital fuss, asking to change the bed in the room to a larger size. Michella was small, not letting her father and her mother get out of her side. The little girl would cry if she didn't see any of her parents. Even Chella wouldn't sleep if it wasn't with them. So inevitably, the available bed should be replaced.
Chella was still asleep, making her father's left arm a pillow. Her hand held Sheila's hand so as not to leave her while asleep, as had been the case, when they left her if she had fallen asleep. It seems that little girl will reunite her parents who are in the process of divorce.
Slowly Sheila opened her eyes. The sunlight that entered through the window slit was dazzling. The woman looked at her husband and son who were still asleep. He placed his palm on Marchel's forehead, trying to ascertain his temperature. Since last night Marchel had a high fever, due to a gunshot scar that felt throbbing all night.
Still feverish, yeah...
Sheila's face immediately reddened as Marchel's hand touched her hand that was still on her forehead.
"You're so worried about me, aren't you?" marchel asked without opening his eyelids. Sheila tried to pull her hand, but the man reluctantly took it off.
"Take my hand, brother!" sheila whispered, not wanting her son to wake up.
"Let it be like this first. I feel your hands are like koyo. My fever would've gone down fast if your hands were there anyway."
"Let go!" Sheila pulled her hand hard, so it slipped off. Make Marchel open her eyes. Marchel's gaze made Sheila misbehave.
"You're still the same as Sheila four years ago. Beautiful when you just wake up," Marchel said adding a red hue on Sheila's face.
"Stop! I'm not the Sheila I used to be."
"For me it's the same. You're still my innocent wife."
Sheila was silent for a moment. Remembering their divorce that has already begun to be processed. "Aren't we getting a divorce soon? I've filed a lawsuit in court."
Sheila's words incised an indignation in Marchel's heart. The man would not be willing if he had to lose his wife again. "No chance for me? Sheila, I love you. I'm sorry I realized it too late. I know my mistake is too big. Is there no chance for me to make amends?"
"I don't know, Brother! Now to me the most important thing is Chella."
"Yes. Youre right. But Michella doesn't want us to be apart. He wants his mom and dad together." Marchel wiped away the tears flowing down Sheila's face. "I won't force. All decisions are in your hands."
Sheila looked at Chella's innocent face with a faint smile. One kiss of affection landed on the little girl's forehead, before getting out of bed and into the bathroom. Marchel closed her eyes again. One hand was coiled around the body of his little princess.
Just a few seconds after Marchel fell asleep, Chella was awake.
"Mother.." call Chella when she feels her hand slipping from her. Even the girl's eyes were still closed, but her little hands were fumbling around looking for her mother's figure. And began to sound a small cry that made his father wake up.
As usual, Marchel would rub Chella's back if she woke up and cried. He kissed the head of his son, trying to calm him down.
"Mother..."
"The mother's in the bathroom, son. There will be a father here" Marchel said.
"You mother..."
"Yes, just a minute, honey... Want daddy to carry?" bargain Marchel.
"don't want. Chella wanted to mother." a small cry started to sound, so Sheila immediately came out of the bathroom. He approached his son and tried to calm him down.
That morning was spent lying in a bed of three, because little Michella really did not allow her mother or father to leave her for a second. He asked his father to tell a story as usual when he visited him to the orphanage.
Sheila who saw Marchel's tenderness in the face of her little girl suddenly recalled the past. When Marchel first met him as a patient. Marchel is the only doctor who doesn't scare Sheila. Precisely Marchel raised the spirit of a teenage girl who was then fifteen years old to fight her pain. And it was unexpected that fate would unite the two in the bond of marriage, until a little angel was present among them. And, although separated for four years, in fact the universe reunited them.
Is there a happy path for Sheila and Marchel? Or is little Michella who will be a bridge for two people who really love each other to get back together?
