Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Family Residence, at 06.50 am KL time.
Naya had just finished her morning recitation when a subtle knock was heard outside the bedroom door.
Immediately the girl walked towards the door and immediately turned the door knob. Standing there the brother-in-law, Afifah, with an inexplicable look. The young mother-to-be immediately embraced Naya while gently rubbing the back of her beloved sister-in-law.
We're going downstairs for breakfast, huh? Fah was very hungry from now on" he said as he straightened Naya's arm without waiting for an answer.
There is something strange about the way Afifah looked at and treated him. What was? Naya tried to throw bad thoughts out of her head. It's 07:00 in the morning, but he hasn't heard anything about Kei.
"Np... Where's your mom, brother?" Naya was a little surprised to see the dining table chair that was still empty.
There is no evidence of Tan Sri Abdul Hamid and Puan Sri Afifah. Not even Jamal, Afifah's husband was seen there. Naya narrowed her eyes slightly with a questionable look.
"Oh, yes Brother Fah forgot. Mama with Papa said, You and Brother Fah have breakfast first. They have guests. So, Mama said we should eat first. It doesn't suck to wait for them. Jom, eat!"
Afifah immediately took the rice without looking at Naya. It seems he was trying not to see Naya.
"Bang Jamal?" Naya was still curious.
"Bang Jamal's? He went straight to the office (office) and after dawn. Understandably, afraid of being stuck rush hour. It will get stuck! Dah yuk eat first. You must be hungry, too, right?"
Afifah is still trying to evade and divert attention and Naya's talks that will ultimately lead to Kei.
The atmosphere of the morning meal went on in silence. Occasionally sounding clink plates, spoons and forks as the three salung clashed.
The afifah slightly sped up the meal as the gawaiya vibrated long several times. An unknown number appeared on the screen. The only daughter of Tan Sri Abdul Hamid and Puan Sri Latifah frowned while narrowing her eyes. It's been the seventh call in just five minutes. Who's actually calling? Wh who?
While finishing his meal, Afifah grabbed the device that was still vibrating on the dining table.
"Hello? Who, ni?" Afifa first greeted the caller.
"I need to talk to Kanaya Khairunnisa! Pass this phone to her!" There was a heavy sound at the end.
"Who's speaking, please?"
Afifah looked more and more frowned. He had heard that voice, but where?
"You don't need to know! I just want to talk to Kanaya Khairunnisa!" Refute the voice across without answering Afifah's question.
"She is my sister! Of course I have to know who you are! And one more, man! Whose number you're calling now?! It's my number!" Afifah began to raise his voice with a face that looked very upset.
Naya who had just listened carefully, began to understand who really wanted to be called by the person over there.
Slowly his right hand stretched out, touching the hand of Afifah who was still slung on the dining table. Naya beckoned the sister-in-law to be willing to give the device to her.
But Afifah was flinching. He kept his grip strong without giving it to Naya.
"*You, nih nah ape, ke? Don't mind speaking English, that's. I know who you are!"
"Oh, really*?! It is an honor to be recognized by Afifah Abdul Hamid! .ha...ha...!" There was laughter from across there.
"Now can I not talk to your beautiful sister-in-law?" Next later.
Afifah was still shaking when a hand touched his shoulder from behind. Afifah turned his head.
Mrs Sri Latifah had been standing right behind her. His father, Tan Sri Abdul Hamid, and another man he did not recognize.
Ms. Sri Afifah gave the princess the code to hand over her salary to Naya.
After the second code from the mother, Afifah finally extended the device in his hand to Naya.
"Hallo. Assalamualaikum says. Sorry, who am I talking to, huh?" Naya immediately greeted the caller across there.
For a moment there was no response. Only a few long breaths could be heard.
"Hallo's? Hallo's? Assalamualaikum."
Naya was immediately fixated with a twisted tongue. The khaira! Only one person called him with that call!
The Flashback
Paris, Summer 2020
"Khaira, if I had to choose between loving you and breathing, I would use my last breath to say 'I do love you'. (Khaira, if I had to choose between loving you and breathing, I would use my last breath to say ‘I really love you’.)
Azki stared fixedly at the neatly-hijabed girl in front of him after successfully expressing a sense through the words that had been stuck in his throat. The girl who always bowed more when in front of him.
The atmosphere of the library is although a little quiet but still far from a romantic impression for a place to express love. But how else? Azki always had no recommended time and place for it! Wh why? The beautiful girl in front of him never gave him a chance!
Yep! Naya always had a thousand and one reasons to subtly reject her invitation. Unfortunately again, all those reasons always sound make sense (reasonable) for an Azki. So be this National Archives witness to his love statement.
Azki was still staring at the girl in front of her who was turning her eyes to the garden in front of the library. Clearly, the girl was trying to avoid seeing him. Naya blinked her eyes a few times.
Yes Rabb! Astarghfirullahal'azim! Please forgive me, Lord! Could it be that my social attitude was wrong when I was with him? Until he expresses love?
Naya let out a long sigh several times before finally being able to gather back her sudden voice as if it was gone.
"Mh... What is bang Azki?" Naya deliberately hangs her sentence, hoping that the man in front of her just misspelled.
"You know what I mean. I want to take care of you Khaira. May it? To be the one who is forever by your side. To be..."
"No, Brother! You can't do that! I'm sorry, I haven't been honest with you. I'm not a single one. I'm married! Sorry, Brother. I'm already married. I'm..."
"I know that! I know that you're a married woman!" Azki immediately disconnected Naya's explanation.
"I know everything about you, Khaira. You're the only daughter in your family. Your mother and father died in an accident. Your fiancee, Ken Husain, died in the fatal accident. Then you married the brother of your fiancee, his name was Ken Hasan. A businessman, the son of Tan Sri Abdul Hamid and Puan Sri Latifah. There are no Malays who do not know them!" Azki smiled without cutting her eyes off from Naya.
"I know all about you Kanaya Khairunnisa!" He continued with a smile that adorned his face. A smile that to the girls looks so charming, but not to Naya. Why does that smile seem to be mocking him?
The girl raised her face. He looked at the man in front of him for a little longer. Something he rarely does.
Naya slowly touched her left chest which was painful. I don't know. She feels pain when Azki admits that the man knows a lot about her. The man knew he was married. Why does he express love? Is love so blinding? Until logic loses ethics? Saying love to someone who is married? Is that ethical?
Oh, no! Don't geer Naya! This man is showing his sympathy. Didn't he know about your marriage? It also knows your home life! She is showing her love for you, a wife whom her husband appeared to. Left alone, with no news without news!
Naya closed her eyes tightly. His left chest is getting sore and painful. Once again the girl looked at the man who had made her feel indebted. The man who once saved his honor and life. This man who for almost two years was like an older brother who always guarded and protected him, even without being asked.
"I won't thank you for what you said just now. But I again want to express my gratitude as much as possible for the kindness of my brother so far. Thank you infinitely for being friends and relatives in the region. Again, thanks!"
Naya ended her sentence by cupping both hands in front of her chest while bowing her head in gratitude. Slowly the girl got up from her seat while grabbing her backpack that was draped on the back of the chair.
Azki who saw it immediately stood up while blocking the girl's wrist.
"Wait on! Ka's...You mad? Khaira, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be bad. I really love..."
"Nope! Don't say that again! And, put your hand off! Release!"
Naya pulls out her hand, which Azki is still blocking.
"Extremelly! I don't mean that!" Azki immediately released her hand checks on Naya's wrist while raising both her hands up.
Naya threw away her gaze, revealing a clear circle that began to reminisce in the corner of her eyes. I don't know. Not sure what makes her cry now?
