Chapter 1: I'm for Sale
My name is Adrestia, the owner of the uninteresting story you're about to read. This is a story of the past, long before I wrote it all.
I'm a Narendra. The first wife of the first generation Young Master Narendra, the only Young Madam who could be called the equivalent of Grand Lady Narendra, my mother-in-law.
But again, that's the story now. To get to the story now, I inevitably have to tell the story of the past.
It all started with one cold word.
"You'll be my daughter-in-law."
That day, I was only about four. Whether because of an affection from God I did not recognize, or because of a coincidence of fate, my intelligence was well above the age of four.
I remember that woman. My mother-in-law, Trika Narendra, stared with her cold eyes. My little heart as a child was afraid of her blood-like dark red hair, but I just kept quiet as if the fear was just a lie.
Trika reached out to me, grabbed my face.
"I see intelligence in your eyes, Little Child. They're blind old men."
I thinned my lips and kept silent hearing her cold voice.
Of course I understand what he's saying. I'm sold. I don't know what the underlying reason is, nor do I want to know. But all I know is that my parents' relationship was bad from the start.
They often argue, often quarrel and sometimes throw things until damaged. My mother's a grumpy woman. If I were to be a little disobedient, my skin would be sore from unreasonable pinches.
My father would beat my mother if I complained, but if I was naughty in front of Dad, he would beat me with wood instead of pinch.
"I also saw the surrender." Trika Narendra, my Mother-in-law whom I had not yet recognized, raised my chin higher to look up. "Little boy, I answered briefly. What little thing do you want?"
Maybe, my mother-in-law and I are a match. Though I'm sure he'll be cheering if he hears me say that.
But I will still consider it so. Because I answered that question with what made Trika Narendra, the Demon Queen of Narendra, smile happily.
I said, "The world."
I don't know. Until now even, I don't know why back then the answer that came out was the world.
All I know is I'm tired of getting hurt.
I'm tired of being oppressed.
I'm tired of feeling sick.
I'm tired of being lonely.
I'm tired of being alone.
And it turns out that Mother-in-law liked my answer.
"An interesting answer. Then let's go, "he said to me.
I turned to look at the house I had lived in all the memories in my head. The door was closed and no one was driving me away.
Inside, Mom and Dad enjoyed a suitcase of money given by Mother-in-law in exchange for taking me.
I don't know. Am I sad? But honestly I feel pain. I love Mom and Dad as bad as they are.
Mother-in-law's words awakened me. Immediately I turned around and it turned out that running to the side of Mother-in-law was not as difficult as I had imagined.
I smile. A fake smile that I did followed instinct.
My mouth was silent, just sitting in the car with the woman in the black dress, before then moving to the helicopter.
"Little Child," called Mother-in-Law as I was amazed at the view from outside the window. "What's your name?"
I blinked. Confused to answer even if I immediately answer, "Train." That's the name I know from Mom and Dad. "Prince Aristawati."
The cold woman looked at me expressionlessly. I noticed how her not-so-beautiful face looked so graceful.
Wrapped in luxurious clothes embroidered with roses, the scent of roses, and eyes that looked like they could master anything; envy arose within me.
The feeling that makes me say in myself, I want to be like him.
And I'll make that happen later. Grunts my own way.
"I'm Trika." The woman spoke very formally, but seemed relaxed and flowing like water. "Trika Narendra's. Narendra's next wife."
I just smiled because I didn't know what Narendra was.
"Your name is Adrestia."
"Adrestia?" I was dodging unconsciously. "Why?"
"The person who named Narendra's wife was Narendra. Your family, your friends, your dreams, your pride, everything about you including your name, from now on nothing."
I'm trying to digest.
"You're Adrestia. Adrestia who soon bears the name Narendra. How you go forward, will be determined by Narendra."
I'm still trying to understand.
"I've bought you, so there's no point in asking. But let's just say I'm kind."
The helicopter door suddenly opened, making a strong wind instantly break through the rough.
When the wind brutally blew her hair, the woman just stared at me flat.
"If you refuse, you can jump now. I don't need you unless you obey me."
Back then, if I had to say, I wasn't afraid of the threat.
Because my smile developed without coercion, saying, "I want to."
I told you, right? Me and Mother-in-Law are a united soul mate.
