Chapter 18: The Accident

Caeyeon and Yeri were still in the cafe. Caeyeon was intending to tell the story that made Taewoon afraid of her.

"Yer..." Yeri looked up to see the hapless Caeyeon. His face looked like he wanted to talk about something but hesitated.

"Why was your face like that Cae?" Caeyeon looked at Yeri, then immediately let out a long sigh.

Taewoon who has entered the game, started the game from the tutorial. In the tutorial, usually what will appear first is a large dragon-shaped monster. Why didn't they show up as little monsters? That's because the makers of The next Hero game intend to strengthen the mental players by making high-level monsters appear.

Because in the tutorial the player can not be exposed to damage from monsters that attack them. Therefore, the game maker wants players to be able to quickly master the game without fear when facing the first monster boss.

But it was a disaster for Taewoon because he was a cowardly boy. When Taewoon first entered he was immediately surprised by the Dragon in the game tutorial. It made Taewoon scream hysterically.

"Geek!" Shouted, and afraid of Taewoon, he let go of the stick he held and sat on the floor. Jinyoung and Caeyeon who saw that just laughed out loud.

"Argh.., Ahk.." Taewoon whined for help. But his two brothers just laughed and did not intend to help Taewoon, they wanted to prank his sister more.

But it did bring disaster to them.

Taewoon who was frightened and lost his mind, instead of releasing his VR he instead ran forward. And caused himself to stumble over the VR cable that was in Jinyoung's room and Taewoon nudged the television in front of him, causing Taewoon to fall to the side while the television falls towards Jinyoung and Caeyeon who is silent is shocked to see that.

The cable that Taewoon hit was also broken, and unfortunately the cable released a spark that caused the falling television to explode.

The explosion just happened, and made Jinyoung and Caeyeon throw backwards. The glass splash from the television accidentally hit Caeyeon's left eye, while Jinyoung, due to the explosion, had her leg seriously injured.

"Argh... ma-mataku.. hiksss.. to-please.." screams Caeyeon holding his left eye that was spitting out a lot of blood. While Jinyoung and Taewoon passed out just like that.

The people who were in the house at that moment panicked when they heard the explosion immediately rushed towards Jinyoung's room.

The workers who were there quickly called an ambulance and quickly put out a sizable fire.

The three children were taken to the hospital. Their father and mother, who were in business overseas, left for Korea after hearing about their children.

As a result of the accident, Jinyoung's left leg was disabled, he was still able to walk with both feet. But he walked with a limp, not as usual.

Caeyeon also suffered permanent blindness because of it. If only her eyes were destroyed, she could have gotten an eye donor. However, one of the cells around the eye was damaged, making it unable to undergo donor eye surgery.

While Taewoon he only suffered minor injuries. But since that incident the relationship of the three brothers was broken. And not only that, Taewoon felt his family ignited him about the incident.

Because of himself Jinyoung became the successor of the disabled family and Caeyeon too. Taewoon always blamed himself, and never again dared to talk to his two brothers.

Caeyeon finished explaining what happened seven years ago. Yeri was just speechless with a face that was hard to decipher.

"So that's why Taewoon always runs away when he sees you?" Yeri started talking after being silent for quite a while.

"Hm. That's it, but..." Caeyeon looked out the window. "It's not his fault..." Yeri looked concerned at the face of Caeyeon who felt guilty.

"Cae.. It's not your fault either." said Yeri knew what was on Caeyeon's mind. "It was just an accident..."

Caeyeon smiled at her friend who was sometimes very annoying, but also very attentive "Thank you Yer..."
