The War Of Hearts

The War Of Hearts
Chap 4 - Fairy Powder Search.

I pocketed some clothes into a small bag, not forgetting to also put the items I might need later. The cry of Papa standing in the doorway did not concern me, my head did not look at him at all.

“Jane, do you have to leave the house this way? Let's talk about it carefully, you have to listen to Papa's explanation,” persuaded, but did not dare to approach because from the first as if there is a fortress that makes it difficult for us to interact physically.

“I only stayed outside for a few days. Don't think I'm really going to leave here, after all this house has a lot of memories of Mama that are still stored neatly in memory. Regardless of the reason Mama left us, I will still look at her as a great woman who has given birth to me,” obviously I make Papa immediately let out a heavy breath, she no longer speaks.

“But if Papa wants to leave the house with the woman, I won't forbid. Do not make me as an excuse to inhibit the desire of you who want to make love,” added me, the bag that I will carry is full of luggage, ready me to attach to the back.

Maybe this will be the last time I can see each other with my eyes, so I allow him to look at each other. My eyes that never make my mind wander on beautiful memories, all about Papa never etched into any memories.

“I go,” saying goodbye as I walk past his still faithful body sculpting with a gaze that implies a lot of meaning.

Picked up by Lyman on a motorcycle, we rush to Ethan's house. While Magani, she chose to go directly with Ethan without going home first.

“Are you sure this is the way to Ethan's house?” I asked to make sure that for almost an hour we had been away from the urban hustle and bustle, Lyman rode his motorcycle into an empty street filled only by tall trees on the right and left.

Lyman nodded but seemed hesitant. “According to the g-maps given by Ethan, we do have to go down this road. Take it easy, we won't get lost. In front there may already be seen residential residents, hopefully before the dark sky we have reached.”

I just nodded thinly, trying to calm down and keep thinking positively. Instead of feeling the horror atmosphere of the dense forest that was inhabited by anything, my mind said that in the forest there were many fairies hiding and they would only come out to do their duty.

“Jan,” call Lyman, instantly disperse my daydream.

I then said, putting my face on his shoulder. Then sharpen the hearing to catch the sound of Lyman will be muffled strong gusts of wind.

“I was very curious about the fairy powder that Ethan meant. If it is true that fairy powder can heal wounds or diseases, I want to ask a little for my mother who is seriously ill at home,” said Lyman hopeful.

“You sure? Ethan said the fairy powder had side effects, you know,” I replied reminded.

But Lyman still nodded confidently, her hope of wanting her to heal was so strong. If you remember Lyman's life background, I think he should be pitied more than me.

His mother was lying weak due to a rare illness, so doctors could not help much. But by God's power, Lyman's mother was still alive despite her alarming circumstances.

“At least my mom can get back to health, Jan. I want to see him smile again,” hope Lyman sincerely.

The afternoon sky was about to change with the night, fortunately we had arrived at Ethan's house. A secluded mansion because I didn't see a single jerky house, Ethan's only one here.

From the gate before entering the yard of Ethan's house, I was struck by a gust of wind that made my eyes twinkle a little as a lot of dust and dry leaves were falling down towards us.

My surprise grew because of the sudden arrival of someone who was already in front of the gate, the fit-looking middle-aged man in noble maid-like clothes opened the gate for us.

“An invitation from Young Master Ethan?” ask him politely.

We nodded at the same time, then he let us in. Lyman starts the engine again, starting to enter the yard of Ethan's vast house.

“Young Master Ethan, Jan. I told you Ethan wasn't a random person,” Lyman whispered to me.

I just chuckled softly to respond.

After parking and getting off the bike, Ethan and Magani greet us by opening the door of the house wide. Lyman and I immediately approached, they both looked astonished when they saw the two of us holding a big bag like we were about to move.

“Wah, it turns out you guys really intend to unravel the mystery, huh?” ethan asked while driving the way, we all followed behind.

“Betul, I think we can all meet with the cloaked man then can be thrown into the fantasy world that is in our shadow,” said Lyman enthusiastically.

Magani and I nodded.

“What if the world you come to later is not like in your shadow?” Ethan asked a reasonable question, we should think about the consequences first.

“Whatever it is, I'm sure it can be a fun experience. There must always be a way to return, we can work together to do it,” Magani replied chiming in.

I also contributed an answer, “If I am private, even if I can not return, I will be very accepting of living in a new world. I want to feel another sensation even if later it does not match expectations.” Either because I felt dumped by Papa, I did not doubt or fear anymore.

“Good. I'll just come along how you want,” concluded Ethan while continuing to walk us, somehow he took us.

Suddenly Magani pressed towards me, then she whispered, “I've surrounded the contents of this luxurious house first, you know? This house is like a castle in a fairy tale! Ah, if I could stay here forever, surely I would be very happy.”

Magani is right, Ethan's house is very nice and very reflective of the castle I always watch in fantasy movies. And the reason why Ethan doesn't live close to other people, I don't know.

It's like a psychic, it could be Ethan is answering questions in the contents of my head. I got a little goosebumps, but I'm sure it was just a coincidence.

“Come in.” Ethan opened the door of a room, before we passed through the hallway to the basement where the access road was only illuminated by a small torch mounted along the wall.

My eyes instantly obscured the room which was only illuminated by a glimmer of torch light from outside. This small, somewhat cramped and predominantly damp room was filled with bookshelves that I believed were already dusty.

“You're curious about fairy powder aren't you? I'll explain it a little, I can't invite you to linger here because this room includes my family's secret room,” explained Ethan who began to explore every corner of the room, which is a secret room, lighting a candle as a light.

The three of us were just beards, following Ethan's direction. Waiting without saying much and just observing Ethan who is somehow doing what with a bottle that looks like an hourglass.

The sweet scent of the plant-like flower that had just bloomed suddenly flowed out from inside this room, slowly the bottle that I had previously thought was sand suddenly glittered as Ethan started flipping through the bottle.

“You see? This is the fairy powder I mean. And after changing from generation to generation, the remaining fairy powder was only a little. My family does produce fairy powder, but fairy powder that can still be produced can only be for jewelry or knick-knacks, it is not traded. While the fairy powder that is in my hand is special to heal all kinds of wounds and can also be disease,” explained Ethan.

I was silent for a while because I was still stunned by the beauty of the glittering fairy powder and gave off a fragrant fragrance. Glancing to the side for a while, I found Lyman and Magani gulping down spit out many times, their eyes sparkling brightly.

Lyman took a step forward, he looked very eager to have the fairy powder. “Can I ask for a little bit of that fairy powder? I—”

“Cannot,” cut Ethan fast. Instantly the atmosphere turned awkward.

“This fairy powder is special for our family. It's not that I don't want to give this fairy powder, but I can't give it away. And if indeed you really want it, we can recklessly find and produce our own different fairy powder,” added Ethan, explaining not to misunderstand.

“What is that fairy powder can be used to make someone walk back?” This time Magani asked, I just realized that Magani has a sister who is experiencing paralysis.

Ethan nodded in response. “I think yes. What's wrong with trying? The most important thing now is that we need to find the fairy powder first.”

I asked impatiently, “Then where can we find that fairy powder?”

Ethan lowered his head, the bottle in his hand he put on the table. “It's pretty hard actually. For the reason my family had difficulty producing special fairy powder to cure all sorts of illnesses, it was because we could not enter the world that fairies could encounter. In short, the portal to get there is gone.”

The sad expression of losing hope was engraved on the faces of Lyman and Magani, I understand how it feels. As a friend who should be reliable, I can't help much.

“But calm. After hearing there was a mystery at school about the cloaked man who said he could take us to another world, I felt like it could be an opportunity. Could it be that in that world we find a fairy who can produce magic powder?” Ethan gives a solution, evokes the hope that originally withered.

“If that's the case, why don't we rush to school tonight? We sneak in, quietly come to the place where the man in the cloak is allegedly wandering around looking for victims,” suggested Lyman, he was so excited.

“True, faster better,” timpal Magani.

Ethan agreed. “Come, we go to school in my car. Previously we also need to prepare some equipment that will be used there, can you help me?”

“Sure!” compact us to answer.

***

At about eight in the night we left Ethan's house for school. Previously we also hosted a sumptuous and delicious dinner by the Ethan family. Unfortunately, his parents are not home, only the eldest brother is joining us.

In the dark night, the streets that do not have lighting at all make the atmosphere so gripping. It relied solely on the illumination from the car's headlights, and only the silence that accompanied it during our trip.

After an hour, we finally arrived at school. Not stopping right in front of the gate, just in case the fear of our presence is immediately known and instead expelled by the security guard who is on duty.

“What if I climb the back wall of the school? Then to get to the abandoned empty garden we sneak through the side aisle of the empty warehouse,” suggested Lyman give directions.

I nodded, directly turning over, walking ahead. “Come, we don't have much time. Before dawn arrives, we must meet the cloaked man.”

The three of them tailed behind, each carrying a large backpack to carry the needed equipment later. Like a flashlight, some small weapons for self-resistance, and also some snack food.

“You can climb it?” Ethan asked me as if he couldn't believe it.

“Do not underestimate. Although I am a woman, if just climbing a short wall like this is not a problem for me,” I said arrogantly, began to fumble tree branches near the wall to become a foothold later.

But...

“Can I come?”

I was surprised. I was so shocked that my heart stopped for a second. How could Melvin have suddenly leaned against the wall behind the tree I was about to climb? Though before his presence was not sniffed by me.
