CHAPTER I THE DISASTER

“Via islandaang!” shouted Via cheerfully as he opened the door. He was surprised, usually his mother welcomed the girl shortly after hearing her screams.

Via step inside. Her tiny legs were swung towards her parents' room. He knocked on the door as soon as he got to the front of the room.

“Ma, Via home. Mama's inside? Or is Mama sleeping?” ask Via.

After waiting for a while, Via still did not hear an answer. Finally, he tried to open the door. Apparently locked.

“Mbok, Mbok Marsih! Bi Home!” Via yelling calling ART.

“Yes, Ma'am,” Bi Inah replied as she rushed over.

“Mama gone? How is the room locked?” ask Via.

“Anu...Madam..’ Bi Inah stuttered.

“Mama why, Bi? C'mon!” Via is getting impatient.

“E..Mrs hurts. Last fainting trus taken to hospital,” replied Bi Inah.

Via shock. She did not expect her mother to be taken to the hospital. This morning, when he left for school, his mother looked fine.

“Who brought mom to the hospital?”

“Mbok Marsih and Pak Nono. Mbok Marsih called Mr. Wirawan.”

“Bi Inah know which hospital my mom was taken to?” ask Via again.

“No, Ma'am. Try Ma'am Via ask his papa Mbak Via only,’ replied Bi Inah.

Via nodded. He immediately took his phone. After getting information from his father, Via asked Mr. Yudi to take him to the hospital. He could not change his gray white uniform.

With a small run, Via skirted the hospital. It was not difficult to find the room where her mother was treated. Inside the nursery was Madam Wirawan, mama Via, lying weakly. Next to the bed, the husband sat in a chair with an anxious face.

“Pa,” whispered Via. He was worried that his voice was interrupting his mother's rest.

Papa Via looked over. He waved his hand, gesturing for Via to enter.

Slowly enter the treatment room. His eyes glazed over seeing his mother lying weakly helpless.

"What's the pain, Pa?"

Mr. Wirawan did not answer immediately. He seemed to be holding back the feeling that was raging.

"Mama had a heart attack earlier. In addition, the condition of his kidneys and lungs is also not good. Papa just found out from doctor Wijaya. All this time your mother hid her health condition. Papa was really sorry to have just found out," said papa Via in a raucous voice.

Via gaped. He never thought that his mother was suffering from a severe internal illness. All this time, her mother looked healthy.

"Pa, mama's healing, right?"

Papa Via looked closely at his daughter. The water that had been pooling in the eye pelupuk finally flowed on his cheek.

.

Mr. Wirawan pulled Via until he fell in his arms. It seemed, the man wanted to share his grief with his daughter. For a moment they were silent with bad thoughts about the woman lying helpless.

The sound of knocking on the door shocked them. Via got up while rubbing his wet cheeks.

"Excuse me, Ma'am. Is Madam Wirawan's husband here?" ask a girl in a nurse uniform.

Via nodded and shifted his position, making room for the nurse to enter.

"Sorry, Mrs Wirawan's husband?" ask the nurse politely.

"Rubber. What's up?" Wirawan asked back.

"Can you come with me? Doctor Vishnu wants to talk to you."

Mr. Wirawan nodded. She turned to her daughter and said, "Get your mama, Vi. Papa stay a while."

"Yes, Pa."

Mr. Wirawan rushed out following the nurse. While Via sat dumbly while staring at his mother.

"I'm sorry Via, Ma. Via did not pay attention to Mama until he did not know that Mama was actually sick. Via selfish, just asking to be noticed. Mom wakes up, yeah. We need Mama. Via promised to pay more attention to Mama," said Via while sobbing.

Mama Via was silent. The woman in her 40s did not react at all.

Via grasped his mother's right hand. He kissed the hand carefully. Meanwhile, Via's tears kept flooding his cheeks.

"Via!"

She was shocked when she heard her name called. He looks. Apparently papa

already back.

"Why you?" ask Mr. Wirawan gently.

"Via's afraid she can't wake up again. Via doesn't want to lose mom, Pa," Via sobbed again.

"The patient one. The doctor is trying to cure my mother. We pray that Mama will heal quickly and regroup with us."

Via nodded. He let go of his papa's embrace.

"What did the doctor say?" ask Via curiously.

Mr. Wirawan did not immediately answer the question Via. He sits in a patient bed.

"Mama needs a donor heart and kidney. And it's not easy."

Via stared fixedly at his bowed father listlessly. He knows how hard it is to get a vital organ donor. Especially heart.

"Is there no other way, Pa? Or maybe we take you to Singapore, Japan, or which is more sophisticated?"

Mr. Wirawan shook his head.

"Why, Pa? Is it because it's so expensive?"

"No, that's not the case, Via. How much you'll try for your mama. But, this is not about the sophistication of treatment. The thing is, your heart and kidneys are already bad."

Via slapped his face. His heart was broken.

"Why is my mother's condition like this only known?" lamented Via.

"Mama had to wash her blood a year ago. But my mother refused. He chose alternative medicine. That's what Vishnu's doctor told me."

"Mama thinks we're someone else, Pa?" lamented Via.

Mr. Wirawan gently rubbed his hair Via. He tried to calm his only daughter.

"Via, that's Papa's estimate. Your mother is a very caring and loving person. Papa's sure that Mama doesn't want us to worry."

"But, we also love Mama very much" said Via.

"Yes, honey. But your mother loves us more. Now we don't have to blame anyone. We pray for the recovery of mama only, yes," persuaded Mr. Wirawan.

Via nodded. Slowly he stood up and approached his mother's head. He looked at the woman who gave birth to him 17 years ago with sadness.

"Vi, you better go home. Let Papa wait for mama, yeah."

Via shakes. He was still staring at his mother.

"Tomorrow you must go to school" persuaded Mr. Wirawan.

"Via wants to be near mama when she's helpless like this, Pa. Via did not want to leave my mother. All this time Via only troublesome mama. Via has not been able to repay my mother's affection" Via replied in a raucous voice.

Mr. Wirawan took a long breath. He knew his daughter was stubborn. Finally, Mr. Wirawan relented.

"Pak Yudi is still at the hospital location?" ask Mr. Wirawan over the phone.

"Still, Sir. I'm in the back canteen of the hospital" replied the Wirawan family driver.

"Can I ask for help?"

"Of course, sir."

"Please go home first to get a change of clothes and other necessities. Keep going, you come back here immediately to deliver our needs."

"For anyone, sir? Ma'am Via didn't come home with me?"

"No. Stay with me and Mr. Nono. Mbok Marsih will come home with Mr. Yudi, yes."

"Good, sir."

"Yes, already. I told Mbok Marsih to the parking lot."

After hanging up the phone, Mr. Wirawan came out to meet Mbok Marsih and Pak Nono who were sitting in front of the room.

"Mbok Marsih returned home with Mr. Yudi. Mr. Nono accompanied me and Via here" said Mr. Wirawan.

"Well, sir," replied Mbok Marsih. The 50-year-old woman moved out of her seat. "I say hello to Madam and Ma'am Via first."

Mbok Marsih went into Bu Wirawan's treatment room. The patient is standing next to the patient bed.

"Mbak Via, Mbok go home first. Ma'am Via is patient, yes. Don't forget to take care of your health."

"Yes, Mbok. Thank you," Via replied without turning his gaze over.

"Madam, I said goodbye first. May the Madam recover quickly, go home soon to be able to gather again," said Mbok Marsih while holding his employer's right hand. I don't feel her tears dripping.

Via turned to his family's ART. He was moved to see the sincerity of Mbok Marsih.

"Be careful, Mbok. Thank you for bringing my mom here."

"Together, Mother. That's our duty. Excuse me, Ma'am."

Mbok Marsih out of the room. His steps accelerated towards the parking lot.
