Two cars entered the hotel complex. One car driven by Mr. Yudi with passengers Farhan, Bu Lena, and Dini. Via did not come because he had to wait for Baby Zayn. The second car was driven by Mr. Nono. Beside him, Edi sat with a slightly tense look.
After the car is parked, Edi and Farhan get off. Mr. Hendra and his wife are waiting in the lobby.
“Assalamualaikum, Sir, Mom, “ Farhan greet the two with respect.
“Waalaikumsalam,” replied Mrs Hendra with a smile.
Edi kissed his mother's hand with reverence and shook hands with his stepfather. Farhan also shook hands with Mr. Hendra and cupped his hands in front of his chest when dealing with Bu Hendra.
“Include, I'm Farhan. My nephew Om Candra,” said Farhan introduced himself.
“We're Edi's parents. Thank you for accommodating my son,” said Bu Hendra.
Farhan smiled amiably. While Mr. Hendra was just silent, did not react.
“How about we leave immediately so as not to be too late? My aunt, wife Om Candra is inside with her daughter,” Farhan took with her.
Edi directed his parents to the car driven by Mr. Nono. Farhan returns to the car with Bu Lena and Dini.
The two cars again split open the street illuminated by street lights. Traffic conditions that are not too crowded make the trip smooth. The car can go at a steady speed.
Half an hour later, they were already out of town. The wheels of the car began to climb the road that is not too smooth. However, the streets are empty so the journey remains smooth.
Finally, the car turned into a simple beige painted yard that was already rather dull. The fence is made of bamboo. There was no garden in the courtyard, only a mango tree and a few flower plants.
Edi came down and opened the door for his parents. Mr. Yudi opens for Bu Lena and Dini. After that, he opened the back trunk. Ms. Lena approached Ms. Hendra. They shake hands and chipika-cipiki. Then, Ms. Lena invited Bu Hendra to bring along the offerings in the car.
“A lot, Madam? These are all the Madams who bought?” Bu Hendra gawked at the many
the prepared cessation.
“My niece who helped shopping with her friends. Mira's friends, too, anyway. Of course without Mira's knowledge,” replied Bu Lena.
They brought the prepared stuff. Mr. Nono and Mr. Yudi helped.
After all the items moved to the terrace, Edi intended to knock on the door. However, Mira's door opens before Edi can knock on her.
“Mas Edi?” mira said, opening the door.
“Assalamaicum. Father and mother are there?” ask Edi.
“Waalaikumsalam. Yes, ada. Please sign. “ Mira shift position of its establishment.
After shaking hands with Bu Hendra, Bu Lena, also Dini, Mira went in to call her parents. Soon a man of about 50 years old and a woman of the same age as Bu Lena came out to meet the guests.
Mira came back out with a drink. He went back and forth because he had to bring some small food. Both of his parents continued to chat with his guests.
“Nak Mira, sit down with us. There's something we want to ask,” said Bu Lena.
Mira according. He sat in a chair near his mother.
“Begini, Sir, Ma'am, Mira, our arrival here would like to celebrate with Mr. Handoyo's family. The second, if all pleases, we would like to ask Nak Mira to be my son's companion, Edi. Sorry if our arrival might make your family a hassle,” said Bu Hendra.
Both of Mira's parents looked at each other. They exchanged smiles and nodded their heads.
“Alhamdulillah panjengan kerso rawuh family in our hut. Sorry if our welcome was just sober. We were very pleased with the visit of everyone. Regarding the wishes of Mother, I asked my son first,” replied Mr. Handoyo.
Mr. Handoyo turned to Mira. The girl still lowered her head.
“Nduk, how? Do you want to meet the requests of parents Nak Edi?” ask Mr. Handoyo.
Mira's face is slightly reddened. His hands were squeezed to get rid of the grogginess.
“Nak Mira, is willing to accompany my son's life, invited to work together, both wading through life?” ask Bu Hendra to Mira.
Mira held her head for a moment. His eyes were met with Edi's. It made him nervous until he came back down.
“I—iya, sa—I want,” replied Mira shrivelled.
“Alhamdulillah,” everyone except Mr. Hendra seemed relieved.
“Then how about ijab time and reception?” ask Ms. Lena.
Mr. Handoyo turned to his wife. The mother of Mira replied with a whisper.
“Father and Mother Hendra, we leave it to the family of Mr. Mother,” replied Mr. Handoyo.
Bu Hendra turned to Edi alternating with Bu Lena. They themselves have not yet set the time.
“Pardon me if I'm presumptuous. I consider Edi my son. If I may propose next month during the holidays so that we and our family can attend. I also asked for the ijab and reception to be one time. I mean, after Ijab directly reception,” said Bu Lena.
“How, Sir?” ask Mrs Hendra.
The man whose hair was partially bleached was silent. Ms. Hendra elbowed her husband.
“Ah, yes. It's up to you guys how good.”
Mrs Hendra held back her wrath. Her husband had no initiative at all.
“We agree with Mrs Lena's proposal. Mr Handoyo and Bu Handoyo how?” Mrs Hendra threw the ball
mira's parents.
“Basically we agree. However, the name of marrying children will need preparation. We are just small people, it takes enough time to prepare everything,” replied Bu Handoyo.
Edi looks agitated. Seeing Edi, Ms. Lena responded and smiled.
“Sorry once again, Father and Mother. Not that I was boasting and presumptuous, but for the matter of God willing funds already prepared. If indeed Mr and Ms. Handoyo agree, all needs will be borne by Edi. He's ready. If it is delayed too long, it seems like the groom-to-be can't hold back,” said Bu Lena.
Hearing Bu Lena's words, people laughed. While Edi bowed while holding a smile.
“Sorry if we get troublesome. But if it is the will of the family Nak Edi so, we just come with.” Mr. Handoyo finally agreed.
A big smile spread on everyone's lips except Hendra. The man only commented on the thin smile as if the meeting-waster alone.
Means agreed they got married next month, huh?” Mrs Hendra asked for more assertiveness.
Mr. Handoyo nodded steadily and replied, “Iya, Mom. Insha Allah so.”
“For what kind of wedding event details, we should talk about another day,” proposed Farhan.
The two pairs of old men nodded in agreement. Miss Lena did too.
“Wah, Mas Edi was very relieved,” ledek Pak Yudi.
“Clearly, Sir. Finally single too,” Farhan adds.
The only one who was mocked was a smile without replying. From his face was clearly happiness.
They continued with small talk. Occasionally, the plunge for the bride and groom were thrown in turns.
After about two hours of meeting, they went home. Ms. Lena said goodbye to Ms. Hendra not taking her to the hotel.
On the way to the hotel, Mr. Hendra asked Edi about his wedding plans. He doubted his stepson's ability.
“What money do you have for marriage? You want a debt to your employer?” ask Mr. Hendra cynically.
“God willing, Sir,” replied Edi.
“You don't want to bear alone! Your future-in-law must also come out with money, dong! Time is just you.” Mr. Hendra started provoking Edi.
Edi held back his annoyance. But he tried hard to hold it.
“Didn't we ever talk about this? Most importantly, I am not a hassle. Let me think about it. I just need the parents' blessing. Important Father and Mother can give blessings and present at my wedding with my sisters,” replied Edi in a flat tone.
Bu Hendra felt his chest tight to hear the debate between the two. Actually, he doesn't like
husband's attitude. But he can't do much
“You want to buy tickets for all of us? Remember, tickets are not cheap!” said Mr. Hendra again.
“Yes, I know. Anyway all I have prepared,” said Edi.
Mr. Nono who had been silent since then also felt furious listening to the talk of the father and son. I never thought there was such an old man.
