This body still feels tired, the shadow of last night still I remember clearly. How the man for the first time touched me gently and warmly. Honestly, every touch Henry made was so intoxicating, that for the first time I could feel what love was, like, lovemaking, and how a woman reaches a peak of comfort that makes it seem to fly high with her partner. Waitaminute! I opened my eyes after I remembered that reality was not as beautiful as I had imagined it.
I spread my eyes across the room. That man doesn't exist! Henry left before I woke up, and when did Henry leave me alone in this room? The man was clearly like rushing once away this time. Did Henry do it because he wanted to avoid me after what happened to us last night?
I smiled bitterly. What was I expecting? A statement of love from Henry Bastian Campbell, who is by status my own husband, but not with his heart. I am well aware of that and I will always remember my limitations as a contract wife that is only valid on paper. So why would I wish more on him?
Thinking that what happened to me was just a dream, I tried to get up and stand up despite the weakness. I have to work, I can't just waste my chance at freedom.
...
The Campbell Corporation
“Are you that intern, Miss?” A tall man stood beside me waiting for the elevator.
“Ah, yes, Sir. I'm Angelina Louis, intern from the marketing team.” I smiled kindly greeting the perlente man who was next to me.
“Tim under Nickollas Franklyn? Amazingly, it seems that the atmosphere of this company will be more pleasant if there are employees as beautiful as you here,” flattered the handsome man blatantly.
“You're too complimentary, Mr. But thank you, I became more excited to work because all employees in this company warmly welcome interns like me,” reply me while smiling sincerely.
“Alan Jones, that's my name, Miss. Louis.” The man named Alan Jones introduced himself confidently.
Ting.
At the same time the elevator in front of us opened. I who was about to step stunned for a moment when I realized that in the same elevator, stood the man I had avoided the most now standing right in front of me with his cold, flat face expression. Our gazes met for a few seconds, but I quickly turned away from his sharp gaze as I looked at him.
“Mr. Campbell, good morning. Coincidentally we met here,” the perlente man greeted Henry with his bright smile.
“Good morning, Mr. Campbell.” My words slightly lowered my head in front of Henry who was still putting on his expressionless cold face.
In the elevator there were three of us. The warm atmosphere immediately turned cold in the elevator.
“Have you done the job I gave you, Manager Jones?” Henry said with a stern tone and his authoritative attitude.
Henry's eyes did not turn away one bit. Looking at his such attitude, I can only curse inwardly, “Basic, Arrogant Boss!”
“Of course it is, Mr. Campbell's. I'll give you his report this morning,” Alan Jones replied with his formal attitude.
Ting.
We reached the floor we were on. Without saying anything Henry got out of the elevator first. Somehow, I could only stare at him.
“Until we meet again, Miss. Louis. Ignore the annoying things that are in this company. Keep the spirit working!” Alan Jones said softly as he winked and clenched his hand, as if to encourage me who was still standing like a dazed man.
“I saw you had an elevator with Mr. Jones and Mr. Campbell, Angelina?” Sandra approached me who was just sitting at my desk.
“Iya.” I say briefly.
“Tell me how it feels?” This time Sandra looked at me with sparkling eyes.
“Iya. Tell me, what's it like one elevator with two handsome men in this office, Angelina?” Sandra looked curious.
“What is it not excessive, Sandra?” I said I didn't think it out.
“Jeez, Angelina. If I were you obviously I'd faint!” Sandra chuckled small with her centile style.
“It's a good thing you don't like handsome men. Otherwise, maybe I'll think of you as a rival to grab the attention of Manager Jones.” Sandra chuckled little again, but her sentence this time was quite shocking to me.
“What do you mean you like Mr. Jones, Sandra?” I asked intentionally for fishing.
Reflexively Sandra wagged one hand into the air, “Gosh, that's not what I mean!” the denial quickly stopped.
I smiled at his slightly misbehaved attitude, “Sadly, when you seemed to fit him perfectly,” my ledek.
“Jeez, is that true?!” Sandra shut her mouth feeling surprised, she seemed to realize that her behavior was clearly opposite to her confession to me.
We laughed a little together before we started working again.
Today I work overtime, my work starts to pile up on my second day at work. In order to fit in with my new team, I had to really work hard to show myself if I could afford to do it. And I can show Henry that the man wrongly underestimated me.
“Are you sure you'll be late tonight, Angelina?” Sandra asked to be sure, her gaze looked worried looking at me.
“I'm sure, Sandra. You don't have to worry,” I said reassuringly.
“Alright, I'll go home first. There is still Mr. Campbell and some other staff are also overtime here. I suggest you go home before they go home, Angelina,” Sandra reminded.
“What, Mr. Campbell?” My tongue felt faint when I said that name.
“Yes, he is always overtime if there will be a meeting tomorrow.” Sandra got up and took her bag, “Alright, I'm home first. See you tomorrow, Angelina.” Sandra waved her hand at me and I replied to the same thing.
I glanced at the watch in my hand, and I was quite surprised to see it was past seven. My eyes went around looking at the office room which now only had me. Oh, my God, am I so focused on work that I don't realize that the other staff have gone home first?
Not wanting to delay any more, I immediately packed up to go home before the night grew. Since working overtime is my wish, it would be a problem if any boss sees me coming home late into the night.
As I was waiting for a taxi to come home, a car pulled up right in front of me. The man in the car opened the car window, and it turned out he was Alan Jones.
“You come home late at night, Angelina?” reprove me.
“Iya, earlier I had to finish some documents that must be collected tomorrow,” I replied with a little awkward.
“You are really great. Your work spirit is so hard, I salute,” praise, “Come, come home with me, I will take you home. It's been a night it'll be quite difficult to find a taxi,” bargain attention.
“No need, Mr. Joneses. Thank ye. I can go home by myself, anyway I don't want to trouble you,” I tried to reason.
At the same time it was also a car I knew passing in front of us quickly. Henry's car, I know it's his. Did that guy see me? Gosh, it could be a problem if that guy sees me with Alan Jones by chance like this. Then what am I supposed to do?
