Arestia Empire'S World Domination

Arestia Empire'S World Domination
Chapter 49: Beginning, Part 1

...—Capital of Excelia, Arestia— Empire...

...—24 January 1239—...

Crunches.

Crunches.

A deliberately hardened chewing sound filled Ares' private office in one corner of the inner palace. From behind the open curtains, the sunlight poured in, very illustrating the bright atmosphere in the room.

Who would have thought if Claude made chicken flour?

How did he come up with this idea after Mehera introduced the chicken to him?

And also, how could he fry it?

In fact, in the previous world, I always had immature parts when frying them.

"Enak..." Ares was slightly pensive, thinking about Claude's potential to become an elite chef in the future.

Crunches.

Crunches.

Wrinkles were visible, Ares glanced back at Excel who was sitting happily on the sofa not far from him. Not only Raze and Orcian, his other children like Wilma, Zack, and Nina can be found playing together in his office space.

Some were seen running around together, as if chasing each other. Some are busy with their dolls. Even so, when he saw Orcian, Ares could only hold his head because of the actions of his daughter who was doodling dozens of white papers that were supposed to be prepared for Ares— due to the cost of papermaking which was still very expensive, although it is still lower when compared to parchment.

If I remember back... Excel says that Orcian killed the intruders because of his ability...

The problem was, what were the conditions to awaken his ability?

If it was Esther, one would have to influence her mind, even though it would have weakened her body after a few hours of being in an awakened state.

I think I should watch over the two more closely.

Crunches.

Crunches.

"Darling, be quiet while eating." Ares' patience has been on the verge. Even glancing at the four women who also sat on the other sofa—Esther, Mia, Sena, and Lucy— no one dared to taste, no one dared to taste, calmness and elegant demeanor are always a priority when they eat something, "And so, eat the meat."

"Eh? I won't leave...." Gaining pleading gazes from Raze and Zack, Excel's expression turned difficult, with a heavy heart, he extended his hand that was clasping crisp skin towards their mouths.

"Well..." Ares let out a heavy sigh, momentarily closing both of his eyes, "Should I open Day Care in this palace?"

"Mr..." Lucy was confused, slightly tilting her head. So it was with the other two who also did not understand the meaning of the words Ares uttered.

"What's that?" timpal Ares, look at Lucy.

"What do you mean by 'Day Care'?" ask Lucy.

"Well, you can think of it as a playground and daycare for children. I guess, the servants and knights have the same problem, too" Ares replied.

Lucy made a worried face, "Is it alright for you guys if Prince Raze and his sister get along with the children from among the commoners?"

Lucy's concerns are natural, seeming to be closely tied to the habits of nobles who take distance because of the very wide social caste differences.

Even so, Excel revealed a smile to him, "Sure, why not? If you get used to it like that, Raze and Orcian would not be able to see how destruction would await them just because they do not understand how to behave to their subordinates well."

"You've really changed, Your Majesty." Lucy was slightly surprised, relief approaching her heart.

"It's not like that." Excel shook his head lightly, immediately turning his gaze to Ares sitting at his desk, "Try to see the man sitting there."

Following Excel's view, Lucy immediately understood. For Lucy, because Ares has been treated with unpleasant and ostracized because at that time had a good relationship with Margrave Francois—Warren and Ann—the central nobles always underestimated him and considered him trivial.

No one had expected Ares to launch a rebellion after marrying the Princess, Excel, if, according to Lucy's judgment, "So I understand it."

"What are you guys talking about?" Ares gave a strange face, confused as his mind was running slow due to his piling up work.

"I—"

Geck.

Geck.

"Your Majesty, it's time." From behind the golden-decorated white twin doors, Claire—State Secretary and King Lethiel's younger brother, Sieg— called after knocking, interrupting Ares' words.

"Well..." Ares yawned, tired of the burden of his work and immediately forced himself to get up, "I go first."

"Dad! Where's where?!" Raze approached her father quickly, as did the other children who had also rushed over to her.

"Dad go for a while, obey your mother and don't go anywhere" Ares said, crouching lightly as he rubbed Raze and Wilma's heads.

"Dad's coming back, right?" ask Zack sadly.

"Dad promised." Smiling softly as he stroked Zack's head, Ares got up, glanced at Orcian who was still motionless from his place and remained focused on the paper he had crossed off—though Wilma who played with him had left him.

This little girl is so troublesome.

Recalling the events of the past few days, Orcian remained ignorant and was in his own world when Ares left. However, when he realized that Ares was gone, Orcian would cry and would only stop if Ares met him or was put to sleep by his mother.

"Take care of yourself, honey." With his mouth full of food, Excel brought her husband's departure in an indistinct tone, as if not caring for him in the least.

Only regret can Ares feel when he sees the sad face of his children. Unlike the Orcians who were still very spoiled, all the other children of Ares had understood that they were not allowed to interfere with his father's work.

"Yes..." Leaving the room quickly, without the slightest sound of her leaving the Orcian unconscious, Ares finds Claire standing right behind his office door.

A long black-haired girl with panda eyes over her face, a glamorous white dress that seemed tangled, Claire gave the impression of a laborat woman who never came out of her room after days of research.

"What's wrong with you? At least, take a shower before leaving for ist—"

"Your Majesty." With a vengeful tone, low-pitched Claire avenges Ares, making Ares undo himself to continue his sentence.

"S...what?" With a hint of fear, Ares asked.

"All corruptors must be punished in 7 generations." Claire made an expression of not accepting rejection.

What really happened to him?

Why she is so den—ahh.

Recalling, the nobles who allegedly corrupted the central funding for mining and other mega-projects came from the Kingdom of Mana as well as a small part of Lethiel's nobility and the former Kingdom of Rowling.

Because of his personal grudges where his work is piling up, Claire actually condemns the action, especially to Ares who asked for the investigation to be done in detail to make himself almost unable to rest, although it is not known by Ares.

"Yes..." Somehow feeling defeated, Ares decided to agree. Especially where the times are turbulent, having subordinates who commit large-scale corruption is a toxic situation for Ares, making it no problem to just throw some noble families at fault.

"Good!" Claire flashed a bright smile, a little to Ares' fear, "And also, you have letters from several parties. Do you want to accept it now?"

"Who?" ares asked, slightly slashing his two eyes.

"The condolences of the Minister of Finance of the Kingdom of Holenstadt, a letter of reply from His Majesty King Lethiel, a letter of reply from the Merchant Guild as well as the Central Bank, and..." Claire momentarily stopped her words, seeing Ares' reaction first.

"Say." The green light was given, Claire took a breath, preparing herself because a big problem had been confirmed to come to the country where she served.

"The church's authority."
