BLACK BIRDS IN MAHLA'S EYES

BLACK BIRDS IN MAHLA'S EYES
Fire Storm in the Day

Jerry is the closest neighbor to Mahla's house. The man who had begun to age at dusk had known the Mahla family for generations. He learns that Magdalene Josiah, Mahla's great-grandmother, was good friends with Merla, Mahla's grandmother, and even became Mary's marriage guardian.

The man who had let his beard stretch had just grieved that his wife was no longer able to walk. A stroke struck his wife during dinner a few months ago. Jerry had a boy named Caanan, who was so shy and socialized that at twice Mahla's age, he had no friends in his neighborhood.

That day was passed by Jerry with mediocrity, that afternoon, he and Canaan had finished picking the clove flowers to be dried. He passed through the window facing Mahla's house while looking at the neighbor's house at a glance. The big house painted in gloomy gray has never looked vibrant again since Magdalene Josiah died.

Merla, Magdalene's only child, died a few weeks before Magdalene's death. Previously, Marya's father also died in a tragic accident in the clove garden. People said the poor man's head was crushed and could no longer be recognized.

Jerry realized how death was very familiar to visit the family of Yoshiah, now only Marya left with her two twins. Mahla, and Melekh. The thought of his neighbor's children made him a little better, for although Canaan was very shy, the boy had no strange symptoms like the sons of the house of Josiah.

Mahla, the neighbor's oldest child, has a beautiful face with impressive red hair, but Jerry feels something is very wrong with him. He himself would not stand Mahla for long, the pair of onyx eyes as if they could penetrate the layers of himself and could see directly into his soul.

Meanwhile, his deformed twin sister, looks like a contrasting comparison with Mahla. The boy had pitiful limp hair like the color of a mouse's back, gloomy and gray. His hands bent inwardly forming a monstrous claw, while his feet did not develop perfectly as well as his mentality. Jerry inevitably feels concerned about Marya's life that always seems to experience

misadventures.

There are rumors that Marya's father did not die in an accident, but because the famous Magdalene Josiah had thrown her with visible force for having done something terrible with her own daughter. The rumors circulated in secret because they were all disinclined by Magdalene who was so powerful, and inevitably they all admitted that the old woman was a good-natured witch.

Marya's husband Jerry did not remember the name of the poor man, because he was a migrant, also died shortly after Marya gave birth to her twins. Her husband also died tragically, the man known as the evangelist was found dead by hanging his neck on one of the tree branches in the forest behind their house. How can a missionary end his own life?

Jerry had heard from his wife that Marya's husband was a devout man who was very straight in life. It is said that even the man will not hesitate to beat Marya if the woman goes against her words. As a people who are both religious, Jerry did not understand where the abomination of Marya husband came from so that they could torture her life, while throughout her own age, he never touched a single hair of his wife with coercion, let alone violence.

“Poor family.” Jerry muttered as he moved from his window. From that window he could see Mahla who usually pecked facing the small forest behind them. That beautiful girl could spend all day there. Jerry could tell her, perhaps the girl did so because her mother was so hard on her.

Marya does not seem to want Mahla to follow in the footsteps of her great-grandmother, maybe the woman is determined to live as normal as possible so that bad things no longer happen to their families. Jerry watched the family his entire life.

There were times when people came and went as there was Magdalene, times when Mahla was seen

very lively and cheerful. However, Marya often drove away the people who came so that the poor girl became paler and more haggard.

“Not my business.” Jerry muttered quickly as his mind bounced around wanting to occasionally be able to make the girl look cheerful again. The only thing he could do as a good neighbor was reward the girl with her abundant cherry tomatoes.

That afternoon, after washing the cherry tomatoes, he headed to Canaan's room and intended to take her to Marya's house to deliver the tomatoes. He saw his wife half asleep in bed after eating a serving of corn soup made by him which is actually very unpleasant taste.

He stopped in front of Caanan's room door, which was very unusual,

locked from the inside.

“Canaan?” Gedor Jerry was worried. Is there something Canaan is hiding? Many times he had to remind himself that his son was over thirty years old, but his unusual behavior inevitably disturbed his mind.

“Open your door!” Jerry knocked on the door hard. “What are you doing inside?” Pushed Jerry again. Sayup-sayup he heard Canaan whimpering like he was being horrified.

“Open the door or I break it!” Jerry could no longer hold back his worries. It is planning to

What he found in Canaan's room broke his mind, and for a second he could not speak.

The fire, snatching threateningly before Canaan's face, was very close to him. The figure was like it was made of fire riaps with a thousand scorpion whiskers on its head. There were no eyes there, all that remained was a pair of cavities filled with liquid fire that seemed to be able to crush anyone who looked at him.

Jerry retreated in horror to see the holes in the creature's body pounding continuously, he could hear painful screams from inside. The creature completely ignored Jerry's presence and continued to stare giddily at Canaan who was cowering in fear half to death.

Seeing his only son being threatened, Jerry's courage rises. He got up and stormed the creature and shouted the prayer of the Archangel Saint Michael to expel the presence of the creature which is the embodiment of the demon named Sharai.

Don't try with me…

Unexpectedly, Jerry heard the voice of the creature echo beautifully, like a beautiful symphony he had never heard. He felt his body bowing under the crackling of the bright flames that were about to prey on his son.

Good, you vermin, worthless other than prey.

Sharai's voice reverberated in his head. Jerry knew he and his son would be preyed upon, but he was willing. He was willing to hear that intoxicating voice, once again, once.

Canaan was apparently not affected by Sharai's power intoxicating Jerry, he threw his body towards Jerry, so he pounded the big man and made him regain consciousness.

“Canaan!” Jerry was shocked. “Expire him!” Canaan cried weakly while pointing towards the demon Sharai who was pounding brighter. The smile that formed on the face of the flames was indescribable to his horror as Jerry stared at him. In fact, perhaps death wouldn't be this scary. Thought Jerry resigned. He will not be able to fight the firestorm that will crush him.

It's not you guys I want.

Persuade the devil with a voice as sweet as honey. Just when Jerry thought death had come to pick him up, he saw Canaan suddenly on the floor, while there was no sign of life on him. Jerry roared angrily realizing his beloved son was just staring blankly at him.

“You what is he? What are you doing my son?” Jerry exclaimed furiously while trying to attack Sharai blindly, but just as he was about to approach the body full of fire, the poor man immediately crashed far into the wall.

I just borrowed his soul, just for a second. You can make it up to him.

Sharai whispered again, his voice inviting, Jerry was all his might resisting the temptation to obey. His precious son was just a lifeless blank sleeve, staring right at him.

Exchange, Mahla with Caanan. Let me be with you.

Jerry can't answer, but we all know the answer is always there. The man will do anything for the sake of his beloved son, he will allow the devil to dwell on him.

In one blink, the fire grabbed Jerry, he waited to feel the pain, but he no longer felt anything. There was only an empty darkness wrapping around him now.he could see as usual, yet there was a strange red mist enveloping his gaze.

Shut up and follow.

Sharai's voice was the only path she would follow now.
