I saw the beautiful morning sun and the green field that for ten days I could only look at through the small window in the barn. I'm happy to be able to breathe fresh air in the morning. As I was enjoying the moment, I noticed that Grace and Lucas were walking towards where I was standing.
Today is my day of freedom.
“Only on the third day did I get the least visits,” I said with an annoyed look. Haley who was standing not far from me was trying to hold back a laugh.
I always complained about the three of them coming in turns like they had nothing to do. For the sake of my sick mother, I tried to excuse her. I was just upset that I couldn't come up with a plan when I asked for paper and ink.
I saw Grace waving to me.
“Good morning,” I returned a wave of his hand while shouting. Finally, I decided to make a dramatic impression on my freedom day.
They seem very happy. I saw Lucas breathing a sigh of relief and hugging me. He's a loving brother.
Having a brother is not as bad as I imagined.
I had bad thoughts because In Ho once told me about his sister who likes to squeeze the contents of his wallet.
Then, we walked together towards the main house. I realized there were a lot of eyes looking at me from the window of my mansion (i was happy to call it my home). The servants, gardeners and other knights who were guarding the house seemed enthusiastic to see me. I tried to smile even though it felt awkward.
I immediately met my mother in her room and she hugged me while crying. I made him sad because of the cage. He said not to fight my father anymore. I can't promise about it because I've been planning to make him angry again about the expedition to the north later.
After meeting Mom and going to the kitchen for a while to thank her for all the attention I got, I went into my room. I only allowed Jane and Reevi to take care of me.
“Jane, I must have made you very worried.”
Jane showed a face full of worry in contrast to Reevi who looked calm as if convinced I was okay.
“I will prepare food for Miss.”
I'm nodding.
I saw that Jane had left my room and Reevi was not leaving. I exchanged a glance with Reevi. Uniquely, he understood I mean the look in my eyes that told him to stay here.
“You've bought it?”
“As per your order, Miss.”
“Where is it?”
Reevi walked up to my bed and took something from down there. I gave orders to Reevi through Haley. I also want to help their love story a little. I have my own opinion on the relationship in the approach stage. My experience says the more interaction the better.
“I choose a beautiful design for you to use. You will look very stylish while holding the sword.”
I'm snapped. I don't care if I'll look attractive while wearing trousers and boots. Comfort is the main thing for me.
When Jane came, I hid her first in the bathroom. Shortly after, Grace and Lucas also came to see me eating. Actually, I wonder why they should see me eating.
Fourth priority.
I sat down with my mouth full of delicious food.
“How do you think, Brooke?” Grace asked me.
I swallowed my food in a hurry.
“Oh, I agree.” I laughed meaninglessly. I lost my focus on thinking of ways to realize my fourth priority.
“I'm glad to hear it. They'll be here by noon. Alex Oppa also came.”
“Who came?”
“Alex,” Lucas stockpiling. “Do not fight with him again. His attitude is annoying but he's a good guy.”
“Oppa has warned him not to speak rudely to you.”
Even though Lucas warned Alex, I'm not sure he's the one who's gonna take it for granted. And yes, who are they?
It turned out that they were the children of other nobles.
Ah, my blood pressure.
I want to stop time but I can't. We are now sitting in front of a circular table located in the garden. There are many beautiful cups of tea that still make me amused. Then, I decided to try to smile as sincerely as possible.
Besides me and Grace, there were five other girls there. And there's Alex too.
When I cursed Alex in my heart because he was in this insignificant gathering that girls do while drinking from pretty glasses to mock me, someone older than the rest of us (i don't care what his name is) was seen holding a cup while smiling down on me. From now on he was just talking nonsense about how a noble should behave.
“I'm just trying to keep Miss Brooke from being laughed at while attending parties later. I care a lot about you.”
I don't understand why I should listen to this on my day of freedom. They tried to urge Grace to meet me as if they really cared about me (their goal was to find gossip).
Grace could not refuse the request of others.
In this world as well as in Korea, there are people who are not good at rejecting the requests of others.
“Oh yes, thank you. But your advice is not so important.”
I'm not interested in people who like to talk nonsense.
They look surprised. I keep trying to be elegant while drinking my tea. I accidentally looked at Alex who was holding back a laugh. She must be happy because I gave her such an interesting spectacle. It was worth the time he had spent sitting in this lousy gathering.
“How can you say like that!”
I shook my head because he was screaming and pounding the table.
“Then why do you say that? You sound indirectly laughing at me,” I said in a calm voice but sounded cold.
I'm lucky because my father's position is the most influential in the region.
“You are so arrogant. You are already considered a madman because of memory loss and acting strange. You forgot your position and proper manners.”
The other noble's son was silent. They do not want to interfere in our debate. At the last tea ceremony, only Miss Alyson of the Chamberlain family thought I had good qualities. Only Alyson sincerely looked at me with a worried look.
As I was about to open my mouth to reply to that nonsense, Grace stood up abruptly. That surprised me.
“My sister is not crazy!” Grace shouted furiously.
A pretty rare sight for me. I watched Grace's eyes begin to shed tears. “Why did you say that to Brooke?”
Hmm, this isn't bad.
I called Jane. “Bring Grace into.”
The mood became gloomy. Alex stared at Grace's back which Jane had taken away. Just like me, Alex seemed to just know Grace could yell angrily at someone.
“It's good we end this unimportant meeting.” I stood up and folded my hands. Look at them with a proud face. “Ah, correct. I'm quite proud because a lot of people are talking about me. Called crazy is not bad either.”
I smile as pretty as I can.
“I'm the single prettiest lunatic in the region, right?”
