DestinaRE ~ The Path I Followed

DestinaRE ~ The Path I Followed
Chapters 3. The Chosen

Bugh!

"Oh." I slowly opened my eyes after hearing such a loud bang. As I recall, the burly bald man was about to hit me for thinking I was an intruder. But for some reason after that terrible impacting sound my body did not feel the slightest pain. Was in one blow I instantly dead?

Seems not. I saw the bald burly man lying on the ground in front of my feet. Nose nosebleed, looks like the impact was really hard huh. I don't know since when Laura stood behind the burly bald man. He who was wearing only a turtleneck without the black jacket outside felt different from him that day. I wonder, who made that burly bald man up like this. Although seeing Laura standing while crossing her arms in front of her chest made me suspect that she made the bald man so strong.

"You okay?" Laura asked me. For the first time I heard it worried me. I nodded in agreement. It's true that I'm okay. It was precisely the burly bald man that should be asked.

"Oh, what did Miss Laura do? Why did Miss attack me?" asked the burly bald man to make myself even more convinced by my guess.

It was Laura's right.

I was quite surprised even though I shouldn't have doubted it in the first place. It was clearly Laura who made the burly bald man fall down. He should have been nothing to Laura if a five-meter-high monster had been slashed easily.

But one thing made me feel sad. From the way the burly bald guy greeted Laura, I knew that Laura was in a higher position and respected.

"What exactly do you want to do?" ask Laura. The tone sounds intimidating.

Obviously it wasn't me who was asked, but somehow it felt goosebumps. He crossed his arms in front of his chest. Even though his eyes were closed, I am sure now the look in his eyes was looking straight at the burly bald guy. I feel sorry for him.

The burly bald man rose from his fall. His hands covered his nose. "The man next to Miss, he's an intruder!"

"A-anu... I can clearka—"

"He's not an intruder." Laura interrupted before I could finish my sentence.

"But Miss—"

"Di-a bu-kan pe-nyu-sup," cut Laura did not let the burly bald man finish his sentence. He just repeated the exact same sentence. He spelled every syllable out of his mouth with great emphasis. I can feel the pressure coming from inside Laura

It seemed that the burly bald man felt that immense pressure on him because he finally stopped calling me an intruder. Yeah, I don't think he's wrong either, anyway. After all, I'm the one who suddenly appears, who won't imitate me intruder. In the end I was completely cleared of intruder charges after Laura told him I was the 'guest Chairman'.

After dealing with the burly bald guy, Laura took me away from there. He walked in front of me. It feels awkward to be in a position like this. Plus he didn't talk to me and there's no way I'd start the conversation. Got to talk about what I'm with him.

Thank me? Should I thank him?

Laura suddenly stopped her steps. "No need to thank. The bald smelly of the land does sometimes like to be unsettling."

Uh, what is this? He read my mind? I don't think I can condition my facial expression. Other than her suddenly 'answered my question', her last sentence was really unexpected to come out of a Laura's mouth. Yeah, I just met him, anyway. I shouldn't have made a conclusion too soon.

The night in this place was completely silent. The night wind that blew felt so peaceful, in stark contrast to where I came from. The long silence between Laura and I added to the silence of the night. Only the dribbling of leaves could be heard filling the silence.

"Why did you get here?" the question breaks the silence.

"I-I was actually waiting for your friend. He said he wanted to see the Chief, so I ran here. Sorry."

Laura was silent and did not respond to me. He turned his back on me so I couldn't see his facial expression at the moment. I don't know why I didn't answer the question because after thinking about it maybe he asked me why I got to this world. Ah, it's a shame that that means that.

He did not correct the question and instead told me that the Chairman was not in the office. The man should have come back earlier and told me that I would meet the Chairman tomorrow morning. Afterwards we continued our journey and Laura showed me the room where I was going to spend the night.

Before entering the room I was silent for a moment to rethink the incident that had just happened to me. "Laura. But I'm not that kind of person" I said. I can't bear to imagine them wishing more on me who doesn't know anything.

I didn't hear a word come out of Laura's mouth. Maybe he was disappointed in me. Ah, how else, than I regret not saying something like this.

"Tell the Chairman tomorrow. Maybe he also knows how to get you home" he said before leaving.

Home...is that possible huh? I hope it's true I can go home tomorrow.

***

After tidying up, he guided my way towards the Chairman's room. While driving the road, I could see his wibawa only from his strapping back. The call is strong, but not as strong as Laura because being by Laura's side alone has put pressure on me.

The door of the room opens. The room was much bigger than I thought. I thought the room was just a patch of room with a couple of chairs and a desk. Who would have thought it turned out to be a large room that resembled a court room. The main seats were not filled yet, only there were some people who seemed to be soldiers in that place. I went inside and the big door was closed. In that big room I waited in the chair they had reserved for me.

"Chairmen and Elite Troops entered the room!" greet one of the soldiers when the big door is reopened. People started to stand up and I got up from sitting like they did.

The sound of the foot of the walking person was heard in my ear. A man dressed as a war commander walked forward into the large door. I'm sure that must be the Chairman. Behind him were three people dressed in black jackets with a bet of an organization. They were Laura, the man I didn't know her name was, and the man I first saw. I think they're the Elite Army.

The Chairman sat in his seat then followed by three people from the Elite Squad sitting on the seat next to the Chairman. After that, I and the other members sat down. The atmosphere was really tense as if I was about to be executed.

No, I might be executed.

"Gdh...."

The entire gaze of his eyes at this moment must have been staring at Laura who was desperately holding back a laugh. Me included. It's all like wondering why he's like that, but I feel like he's laughing at me. Does it seem like I'm panicking?!

It didn't take long for Laura to return to her cold mode. It was cold and expressionless as if nothing had happened just now. After that meeting began.

"So, what's your name?" The chairman opened the meeting by asking my name.

"I'm Naito, Chief," I replied as carefully as I could.

"Are you really from another world? How did you get to our world?"

"That's it..," I fell silent for a moment. Stringing up word for word I had to say so as not to look like a con man. "I'm really from another world, but I don't know how I got here. All I remember is that I've suddenly arrived here."

"so yeah. Welcome to our world, O 'The Chosen One'. We're really lucky to have you!" His aura had completely changed now. Not at all terrible. The atmosphere around me turned cheerful, but it put a lot of pressure on me.

"Ti-no, Chief. I'm sure you misunderstood. I'm not the 'Chosen One' you all think I am" I argue. At first glance I glanced at Laura who was still just as silent. I think he'll help me talk to the Chairman.

"where possible. It's obvious you're the 'Chosen One'! A savior sent from another world to end the war in our world!"

Uh, why don't the people here like to listen to me. I saw the Chairman's smile so wide as to ignore my rebuttal. How now? Of course I have to convince him.

"Ketu—"

Brak!

The big door was opened by someone loudly. A soldier suddenly came panting. I could see his sweat running like a marathon.

"Chairman! Report, the monsters are starting to attack again! Reportedly two three-meter-tall monsters had entered the main pier and a five-meter-tall monster attacked the outskirts of the village!"

Everyone stood up from their seats. The chairman is the same. The presence of a soldier made me stop my sentence that I had not even spoken a single word.

"Deliver class A troops immediately to the main pier and the outskirts of the village!"

"Good!"

"Prevent the situation from worsening and report the situation as quickly as possible before the S-class forces catch up with the 'Chosen One'!"

"Good!"

I looked at those who were so ready to respond with a look of admiration. I'm sure things like this are common in this place.

Some people came behind me carrying a set of armor and handed it to me. Their presence made both of my eyebrows tangled in confusion. I think there's something I missed from the Chairman's words. Ah...

What does it mean to 'go with 'The Chosen One''?!
