Dusk (And Taste)

Dusk (And Taste)
Chapter 132

Nadhira's POV

Since my pregnancy, I don't know why my emotions often can't control me. Sometimes crying suddenly for no apparent reason. Anger that I must vent immediately. Or my weird wish that had to be fulfilled.

My mood is very unstable. Like at the moment. In fact, I obviously knew Reyhan was teasing me. However, it still managed to make me angry and immediately cry. Leave the dining room without excuse. I make sure the whole thing feels weird and guilty.

Especially husband. Really am. I even feel sorry for him. He was so patient with me. Although I know he also has to focus on his work piling up. And also his health that I've seen lately is only declining. I think I should have understood that better, right?

Stairs by stairs I slowly walked. With an increasingly heavy patter I entered the room and slammed the door so hard. It succeeded in making me flinch alone. Not only that, what I did no doubt also made the little human who was growing and developing in my womb kicked hard.

"Gosh, Son. I'm sorry you've surprised you, yes, dear," I whispered as I gently stroked her growing belly. As Mama said, my son is growing and developing well. Of course, that made me smile.

I turned the key that was hanging neatly on the door. Locking the door from the inside so that no one can enter and disturb. Yes, anyone. Reyhan though. I really want to be alone. Enjoy the night and pet my little creatures with a lot of affection.

On the soft bed I landed my body. Remove the hijab and put it carelessly and at will. My tiny little hand as my husband often said grabbed a thick book on the bedside table. Long time no nourish my brain with reading books like this novel I hold.

On the first sheet whose writing was exactly the same as what was written on the cover I found a piece of sentence with handwriting looking so neat. It was obvious that the writing made me pull the tip of my lips and smile. That's my husband's handwriting with the words "I love you, Nadhira Aleeana Prayudha".

My eyes turned to the thick blanket at the end of the bed. Then, I pulled to cover a part of my body that began to feel cold in the night wind that I let in through the wide-open room window. I often hear Mama, Mommy or even Reyhan's sister advising me, that the night wind is very bad for my health as well as the baby in my womb. However, tonight I really don't want to heed that. The wind this evening made me feel a little comfortable. Sometimes it seems okay, I thought.

My attention was caught when I heard the sound of footsteps getting closer to my room. Very slowly. And I'll make sure it's Kak Reyhan's footstroke.

I grabbed the blanket that covered half my body. Get down on the bed and step towards the door. However, I immediately broke it. My emotions that are still soaring high make me reluctant to get close. I immediately went back to bed and tidied up the position of getting ready for bed.

Long after I heard the footsteps stop. Later, silence. The knock on the door I should have heard wasn't even there.

The movement in my stomach became clearer. Perhaps, the little creature inside was signaling me to come out to see his father.

My foot steps back. My hand holds the door knob. And again I pared to open it. Because, I heard the voice of two men talking out there, my husband and brother.

I sharpen my hearing to be able to hear the conversation of two humans one generation. The corner of my lips lifted. I smiled at the answer after answer Kak Reyhan threw at Abang. Apparently, that guy was really thinking about me.

Just sec. My heart ached when I heard my husband's weak voice. I bit my lower lip. Oh, dearGod. Why is it like this now?

Tears are no longer able to hold. I was sick when I knew my husband wasn't okay. I don't even know what to do.

There was no sound I heard other than my sobs. However, before long Mother's soft voice greeted her daughter-in-law's son. It was a success to make me smile wide even though the patai is still rushing freefall.

I heard the same answer Reyhan said to Mother. And I heard also how Mother is so concerned with the health of her only daughter-in-law.

After no more sounds I heard. I sat down against the door of the room. I still refuse to open the door. I don't know why my emotions are so often so out of the ordinary that I control them so well. Perhaps, this is the influence of the hormones of pregnant women as often said Mama and Mommy to advise Kak Reyhan who occasionally complains with my strange attitude.

Not with my heart. I'm getting nervous, worried about the guy who's still out there. Really, I can't be so hearty to let it linger outside the room with conditions that are far from good.

I quickly turned the hanging key. Opening the door and finding the man I loved dearly bowed with a sweat drenching the shirt that wrapped around his body.

"Sister?"
