The Red Umbrella (Nicholas Geoff)
.
.
Nicholas doesn't expect anything on this always boring Monday. Nicholas' job is a bit much because the office in his brother's living out of town.
His older brother Chris is a reliable architect - while he is just the manager of the company that Chris is building - is trying to patiently face the questions of their prospective clients. Nicholas may not be as reliable as his brother in technical matters. But a little bit he understood the theory.
And thanks to his speech and diplomatic smile. All work went well today. He can go home quietly.
Nicholas parked his SUV in the cafe's parking area, where he was sheltering from the rain on Friday night. It rained again, inviting Nicholas to sip hot coffee. It feels like Latte must be very delicious.
Nicholas went inside and ordered a drink, before spreading his gaze all over. Looking for a comfortable place to relax, as her eyes catch her pink hair.
Sure enough, the pink doctor who shared an umbrella with him that week. Nicholas approached her with a bit of hesitation. But finally made it to that table.
"It turns out it was you, pink doctor.” Nicholas hopes his greeting isn't that bad. But he kept on posting smiles. The woman looked at Nicholas for a moment before smiling broadly displaying her neat rows of teeth.
“Ah ...Mr. gentleman yesterday.” Nicholas rolled his eyes at the gentleman. I don't know why he feels ticklish.
“I'd rather be called Nicholas actually.” Nicholas said it was still standing next to him.
“I also prefer it on call Monika.”
this is a pretty unique introduction.
“Alright , so are you waiting for someone?” Nicholas is a little bit of a mince.
“No , I wait for the rain to subside," replied Monika who was still smiling.
“Doubt if I treat a cup of coffee and chat ?” Nicholas doesn't know why he's asking that. But he was no longer able to retract his words.
“We can chat, of course. You don't need to buy coffee just to chat.” Monika's answer inexplicably makes Nicholas' doubt disappear. Nicholas smiled and pulled the chair across the monica. And sit back relaxed
“Of course I have to, I owe you a cup of coffee,” George said, a smile not yet gone from his face.
“I don't remember we ever discussed this before his.”
“No, I owe it to myself. In those seconds when you cut a baby's umbilical cord." Nicholas laughed softly at the end of his speech.
Monika also laughed with the crispest and melodious voice heard in George's ears. What is. His shoulders shook with his laughter.
“Have ordered something ?” Nicholas asked Monika who was still smiling beautifully while holding back a laugh. The red hue is depicted as a rainbow bias in her white cheekstrakes.
"I ordered my coffee. But I was thinking of ordering a piece of chocolate tart cake." Monika does not try to sell expensive by rejecting what Nicholas offers.
"of course. Let me pay." Nicholas bragged by showing him his wallet.
"Do you want me to order too?" tanga Monika.
"No need. Thank you," answered Nicholas quickly.
"Let me guess, you must hate sweet.” Monika squinted her not big enough eyes. Makes it hard for Nicholas not to smile amusedly.
“Your guess is wrong," replied George, still trying to hold back the laughter.
“Sugar makes us excited and warm," said Monika trying to sound cheerful with her shy face.
“I won't deny it.” Nicholas muttered as he sipped a little coffee.
“So you're here to enjoy coffee?" monika asked not to stop asking.
“I'm here to take shelter from the rain" replied George. Lying, of course. He actually brought a car.
“From here there is a mini market that may have sold the umbrella again.” Monika begins to make Nicholas remember their memories. Them? Nicholas snorted at the word that came to his mind.
“No thanks. Last time I was there I had to see someone cut the umbilical cord" Nicholas replied half-jokingly.
“You discussed the umbilical cord twice. Is that very disturbing?” ask Monika again.
“No, there is something more disturbing actually, than just the umbilical cord that is cut.”
“Really? What is it?” Monika turned out to be an easy person to make curious.
“Sorry I don't usually tell secrets to people I just know," Nicholas replied in a whisper.
“Alright, I won't ask.” Monika rolled her eyes.
“Maybe true said the pregnant woman. We're tied in true red," said Nicholas sounding bragging.
“Yes, maybe meeting you brings bad luck to me.”
“What? Thank you George, I'm a little offended now.” Monika crossed her arms in front of her chest.
“You shouldn't be offended. Nothing is perfect in this world. Including beautiful women. Maybe it's a little bit of your imperfection" Nicholas said long.
“What did you just say that I am beautiful?” Monika is trying to widen her eyes now in a way that Nicholas finds funny.
“You don't like being called beautiful?” Nicholas replied with a slight tease.
“Why do handsome men like to reverse questions with questions?”
“So I'm handsome?” Nicholas' smile is wide right now.
“You must learn to answer questions correctly George."
“Abspond which one? Too many questions you ask Monika."
“If you answer with any more questions. You will upset me and sir, you will not want to see an angry obstetrician.” Monika was still crossing her arms, her chin slightly raised. His eyes stole a look at George.
“What now am I under threat?” Nicholas is still trying to tease Monika.
“That's another question sir.” And finally Monika could not help her smile anymore.
“Do not get angry, I must have a way to impress you.” Nicholas knocked the table with his index finger.
“What is important?” Monika raised her chin again. Trying to hide his face that looks redder.
“Of course it matters. Especially at this time I will discuss about the ritual of antidotes. What do you think?” Nicholas' bullshit continues. He doesn't even know how to stop anymore.
“I didn't expect this topic to continue.” Monika raised her eyebrows.
“Of course this will continue. So we have to think about it carefully.” Nicholas nodded his head twice, as if this was a serious matter.
“Alright, how then.” Monika finally gave up and was ready to hear even more of the man's booing. He had already propped up his chin with one clenched hand, touching his lips with his middle finger.
“There are three ways.” Nicholas looked at Monica. There was an amused glint that flashed in Monika's shady eyes. Is beautiful.
“First, I have to drive you home with my car tonight," said Nicholas sounding confident.
"You brought a car? you said you were waiting for rain to subside.” Monika slightly raised her tone.
“It's not an ongoing topic now Miss.”
“Good. Then?” Monika re-establishes her seat waiting for what Nicholas will say next.
“Both we have to exchange phone number.”
“Why?” asked Monika pretending not to understand.
“For us to be able to connect with each other when misfortune comes," reason Nicholas sounds weak.
“You said I'm a pesky carrier, what are we connected to?” Monika wants to attack Nicholas on that weak excuse.
“Sadness keeps us alive Miss.”
“Alright, and third.” Monica doesn't know anymore. He'll just be in the game.
“Third, it's good we meet every weekend.”
Monica laughed again.
“Sorry what is a date?" monika asked, not believing what she heard.
“Ya actually.” Nicholas lightly answered that.
“Nicholas you're really full of shit.”
“Yes, you are right. I was thinking of a way to fill it.” Nicholas wears a smile that is truly a smile. Not his usual diplomatic smile.
Monika still looked amused Nicholas who was looking at her seriously.
“You are beautiful when laughing Miss. That's the content of all this nonsense.”
The amused lightning in Monika's eyes was replaced by another twinkle. His cheeks brightened, he gulped as he turned his face slightly and sipped his coffee. Although he avoided Nicholas' eagle-like eyes. Nicholas could still feel his smile.
