The man breathed a rough breath. Occasionally glanced at the door of the room. Closed.
Why so long? thought worried.
People passed by and the sound of crying out of nowhere made him unsettled.
I hope nothing happens to his wife.
The pungent smell of medicine disturbed his sense of smell. The man commonly called Ridho hated this place so much.
The hospital is where her mother breathed her last. Ridho still remembers that. Mama's shadow flashed through her mind. "Ma."
The man glared while shedding tears. In his heart he prayed that his mother would be calm in nature.
"With her husband Rahma's mother?"
Ridho. The woman in white clothes looked at him.
"Yes. I'm Rahma's husband, Doc."
Then he stood up to the woman who had just come out of his wife's room.
"How's the wife doing, me? What the hell happened to him? his pedicab.
"Please enter my room. There's something I want to talk to, you."
Ridho followed the doctor. His steps stiffened along with his erratic heartbeat. He was afraid of something bad happening to his wife.
"Why my wife, Doc?" Once again Ridho asked after being in the doctor's room.
"Look, Sir. Your wife ..." The doctor paused.
Ridho waited impatiently. From the look on the face of the doctor who handled his wife, he knew something unwanted happened.
"Your wife is pregnant."
Ridho tried to digest back the doctor's sentence. What he said his wife was pregnant. That's something exciting, isn't it then why is the doctor's face like that?
Ridho pulled the corner of his lips. "Is my wife really pregnant, Doc?"
His eyes looked happy. However, the twinkle faded as the doctor continued his sentence.
"But the fetus in its womb cannot be saved."
"I'm sorry, sir. The foetus in his wife's womb you're so weak that a little shaking just causes a miscarriage."
The doctor seemed to feel guilty. But, he has tried as much as possible. Then what should he be? It's all god's will. He can't do anything.
Again Ridho shed tears. He's lost back. Sad, upset, and angry mixed into one.
Ridho growled in frustration. Why did all this happen?
Ah yeah. He remembers this all because of that son of a bitch Doni. He's gonna kill that bastard right now.
Ridho walked in a hurry. The face of the bastard seemed to laugh in his mind. He will kill the man now.
However, the wife's innocent face suddenly flashed through her brain as her steps came to a halt. The man turned towards his wife's room in the care.
* * *
"Dear."
The water drops fell again in his eyes. Ridho looked at that sleeping face. It would be hard for his wife to know she just lost her baby.
"I'm sorry I can't take care of you and our baby."
Ridho stroked his wife's cheek. Look at that sleeping face with sadness. Water melts were not easy to stop in his eyes. She cried. His feelings are really disappointed. Why did she have to lose her baby? Even the baby is not known of its existence.
What if his wife found out about this fact? What will happen to that woman? Will he blame her?
A few hours Ridho lamented the sadness and put him to sleep. He's tired. Very tired of crying.
* * *
At four o'clock in the morning Ridho felt someone pat him on the shoulder making him wake up from his sleep.
"What is tahajjud prayer?"
Ridho looked at that face. Smiling sweet. Does knowing all that smile still exist?
"Don't you?"
Ridho gasped then returned that smile. Trying to forget his sadness for a moment.
"Yes dear."
