CH 15: Beginning Before the Storm

“Sial, how is this?” murmured Liu Huan while remembering something. “System, did the mission this time fail?”

[No, before you complete the mission, I can't answer questions from the host.] Respond coldly to the system.

“Jeez, how is this? Last afternoon didn't I reveal my real identity to Lin Yujie?” thought Liu Huan while feeling panicked. “System, is this okay?”

After quite a long walk, Liu Huan finally returned to the herb shop he had visited before. “Hu Tao, are you here?” liu Huan said as he entered the shop.

“Ah, Liu Huan, welcome. Can I help you?” said Hu Tao who was cleaning up the shop at the time.

“Look, I need some ingredients to make a pill. Here's the recipe,” Liu Huan said as he handed her a piece of paper.

“Let's see, zaitu fruit, flavorings seed, 5-year-old ginseng, and holy water. Looks like we have all the necessary ingredients,” Hu Tao said as he picked up the ingredients written in the recipe.

After quite a while, Hu Tao returned with the ingredients listed in the recipe. “This is all the material you wrote,” Hu Tao said as he gave Liu Huan's order.

Upon hearing that, Liu Huan felt uneasy. He thanked her and gave three silver coins to Hu Tao. “Then, see you later,” exclaimed Liu Huan while leaving the store.

“Be careful on the road,” reply Hu Tao looked at the departing Liu Huan.

“System, what is all this for?” liu Huan asked as he walked around the city.

Liu Huan stepped slowly in the bustling city with activity. There was a frenzied hustle and bustle of merchants shouting promoting their wares, and the fragrant aroma of appetizing food filled the air. At that moment, Liu Huan's eyes were fixed on a small child who was running around cheerfully, but accidentally hit him hard.

There was quite a loud clashing sound and several people around him turned their heads, observing this unexpected event. The little boy fell down and cried sadly, while Liu Huan swiftly helped him wake up. His originally stiff and cold face turned soft when he saw the child crying.

"Look where you're running, son. You all right?" liu Huan asked gently, calming the little boy down.

The boy shook his head while holding his injured hand. "Sorry, uncle. I accidentally hit you."

Liu Huan smiled and grabbed the child's hand. "It's okay. Come on, I'll help you find your mother."

Liu Huan continued his journey with a light heart, feeling happy to have helped others. As he passed by a snack vendor, Liu Huan noticed Xiao Xue standing around. Out of curiosity Liu Huan walked towards him.

“Oh yes, almost forgot” Liu Huan replied, then removed his mask from the inventory.

“Xiao Xue, where's your brother?” liu Huan asked as he approached Xiao Xue.

“Ah, the masked brother I once met in the valley” Xiao Xue said gently “my brother went to buy a drink. My brother told me to wait here,” Xiao Xue continued with a happy face when she saw Liu Huan wearing a mask.

“Why don't you order food?” ask Liu Huan again.

“All the money is in my brother, so I was told to just wait here,” Xiao Xue replied sadly.

“It's okay, let me buy it for you,” Liu Huan said happily.

“Seriously, Brother? Thank you, Brother,” Xiao Xue replied with overflowing happiness.

They both approached the food vendor and ordered. “Mas, two sweets yes,” said Liu Huan politely.

“Good, Bang,” replied the seller who immediately started making their food.

After their food was finished, Liu Huan gave her the money and left. The two of them sat on an empty bench located beside an urban road.

“This is your meal, Xiao Xue,” Liu Huan said as he handed over the small meal.

“Wah, thank you very much, Brother,” Xiao Xue said happily.

Liu Huan was happy to see Xiao Xue's happy expression while eating the food. Xiao Xue, the 8-year-old girl, was sitting sweetly on an empty bench next to an urban street with Liu Huan. Her cute and innocent face smiled as she held the sweets that Liu Huan had just given her, which looked so big in her small hands.

Her small, red lips burst when she put a small sweet into her mouth. Her big, funny eyes radiated happiness as she looked at the sweets with excitement. Her shoulder-length, black hair gently unraveled on her shoulders, adorning her plain and cheerful face. It was clear how much she enjoyed each bite of the sweet, which made her smile wider and warmed the hearts of anyone who saw it.

“Haa…. Angel, must be her angel” muttered Liu Huan happily

When they enjoyed the snack, from the front they saw Sin who had just come confused and frantically looking for his missing sister. There was the sound of a shout that fused with the surrounding noise, "Xiao Xue where are you!" he cried with breath.

Xiao Xue who was enjoying her sweetness immediately waved her hand and replied in a loud voice, "Sister, we are here." However, her lips that were still covered with sweets made her voice sound cute and adorable.

At the sight of Xiao Xue who had survived, Sin felt relieved and immediately approached her with a breath that was still wheezing. "Xiao Xue, why did you move from the place you told me to?" ask her with an anxious face.

"Sorry big brother, earlier Xiao Xue accidentally met this masked brother." Xiao Xue replied as she pointed towards Liu Huan who was still sitting next to her.

Hearing that, Sin immediately saluted quickly, "Senior." he said the words politely, showing his respectful attitude. “Sorry for inconveniencing you senior”

“don't think about it, I'm just taking a walk to buy some ingredients, there's no problem." Liu Huan replied casually, calming Sin down.

When the time for separation arrived, Liu Huan said goodbye and walked away from the place. "Sister, be careful!" xiao Xue shouted with her sweet smile.

“Senior thank you very much” said Sin saw liu huan who went from there

"There's no need to think too much about it, I'm just doing what I'm supposed to do." Liu Huan replied with a friendly smile from behind a mask. He walked away leaving the two of them with a sense of peace emanating from his body.

Meanwhile, Shiori who was heading to the battlefield was being surrounded by a group of troops in a forest. “Sial, why even we ended up like this,” Shiori said feeling annoyed.
