At the Secret research center of the arms development company, located in a certain country on Earth, there is a researcher. Head researcher, in fact – even if today, most of his time was taken by the job of secretary to Vice Director, Jhon. One of his colleagues recently shared a video they found interesting.
“No way... but, what if..” murmured Audrey. (secretary name).
The scene stuck in his mind. Yggdrasian. An entirely new world is presented as fiction, nothing more than a virtual reality game.
The so-called 'player' is sent into this world as a harvester of new forms of energy, called 'where'. To lay the foundations, corporations have begun to disrupt the human states of the new world since a decade ago. Temples are built in it as mana collectors and as resurrection points for players.
The Yggdrasia human race believes this is the God of Knowledge Temple. In fact, these buildings serve as bases for corporate staff members and digital equipment, for on-site analysis of local peculiarities such as mana and materials, and for surveillance.
One hundred thousand AI-driven, rover-focused remote-controlled drones are used as scouts. They fly around the world to survey the terrain and climate. In rare cases, extremely sensitive monsters or other causes may still be able to severely damage them. After all, the overall performance was good, and the earth received a tremendous amount of information.
Once the AI drones detect unusual events, their programming requires them to rush to the scene and record what they can.
Drones in the Kingdom of Seis, a country in the northwestern corner of the central continent, had detected one such event in the auction hall and had recorded a portion of it.
Right in front of the Vice Director's room was Audrey's own desk. Using an audiovisual-only VR device, he played back a copy of the recorded data that was on his mobile device.
Before his eyes, he saw a little girl fighting against a large group of adults in front of the auction venue. The video was filled with a strange white noise, almost like mist or smoke, and the girl's movements were extremely fast. Audrey can't see what she looks like. Fortunately, when the girl was sent flying by the wind spell, her side profile appeared on the screen for a split second.
And soon after, the screen turned white as if the drone was engulfed in a hot mist, and it did not work. The recording ends there. Fellow Audrey has complained about white noise. They thought the fight would produce a good trailer video, if only the footage wasn't too blurry.

But according to Audrey the girl looked familiar. Almost like a feeling of deja-vu.
She has white skin, white hair. Usually the characteristics of an albino, but with the addition of her long ears, she looked like a Fox Beastman girl.
However, more than anything, a glimpse of the side of her face reminded Audrey of a certain girl.
“...number 13..”
Last alpha tester. An albino girl is born with special powers, called 'demons' by her own mother. His consciousness was gone, and his comatose body was kept in the collection facility.
Audrey remembers very clearly the photo attached to the document detailing the girl's personal information. It's hard to forget that look.
They just look alike, that's all.
Most people would ignore that problem with it. But somehow, Audrey could not separate the rabbit girl from No. 13. However, the woman decided to bury her anxiety, despite the protests coming from her intuition.

After I escaped from the auction venue, I quickly mingled with the crowd.

go to the top of a building and start jumping over the roof. The express train was about to depart just at that time, so I clung to the roof of the carriage. We are outside the capital.
I spent the whole day on the train. Once we got to the next city, I took another train – officially, this time, with tickets purchased – before news about me could spread, as soon as possible had to leave the border of the country.

The train I was riding was heading east to the Kingdom of Trestan. The destination was a small country called Anneuf.
Saying 'neighboring country' might give the wrong impression. In contrast to the countries on Earth, which were densely packed together and covered all the land that people could live on, the countries here only formed around the Earthquake which was very comfortable. So there's a considerable distance. It took three full days without stopping for the express train to arrive.
Actually, this speed is almost the same as a linear motor train, right? The sight just passed. Yet even when I opened the window, all I felt was a gentle breeze. I wondered if the entire carriage was covered with a force field. After all, they did have a lot of magic to waste.
Well, seeing a scene like this is not much different from looking through the plane window, after all…
Trains crossing the border have eight cars, three of which are for passengers. Twelve rooms in total. There are currently only seven groups of passengers, so I have one room to myself.
From the window, I was finally able to take a breath of relief. I took some of the food I bought from the dining room to feed while checking the results of my evolution.

Unique expertise [Absorption]... If I remember correctly, the avatar's ability to absorb mana from a slain enemy comes from this power. And as a source, the power of No. 17 is much more flexible.
In my case, the absorption of life force that I could do through my mist was now proceeding much more smoothly. Not only that, I can now absorb the air around me to create hotter air.
My combat flexibility will get a huge boost from just this change alone.

So, plan for the future. I had to start gathering information about the last magic stone, which belonged to No. 08, once I could get inside Tristan where the stone was located.
