Mirabelle's Doubts
Jef takes Belle to the park behind his house. They sat on a white iron bench that only fit two people. The woman rested her head on the husband's shoulder.
"Jef, I'm sorry for being too busy with my work. I hope you always understand, baby," said the woman expectantly.
"Yes, it's okay," the man replied by gently stroking Belle's hair.
"Can I ask you something?" belle said after a few seconds of silence.
"Hm," Jef replied as he grabbed a cigarette on his lips.
"Are you going to stay loyal to me even if you're already Kimmy's husband?"
Jef was silent, soaking in the cigarette and exhaling the smoke into the air. Belle looked up waiting for an answer from the man.
"Do you doubt me?" Jef asked back.
"It's not like that, baby. I just-"
"For 7 years married to me, have you heard the issue of me cheating or responding to a woman other than yourself?" cut off Jef and get a trinket from Belle.
"You should know how much I'm loyal to you, Belle. A lot of women tease me out there, but I just feel for you" the man added.
"Then what do you do if a woman teases you?" ask Belle curiously.
"I've ignored. If anything goes too far, I hurt them until they don't dare approach me anymore" Jef's reply made Belle feel lucky to have her husband like Jef.
"Really?"
"Do I look like I'm lying?"
Belle shakes. "I'm just scared of one thing."
"What's that?"
Jef put out his cigarette, then sat facing Belle with a firm face. Both of his hands cupped the woman's thin cheeks before him.
"You still doubt my loyalty?"
"I'm just afraid, because she's not the woman who teases you at a glance like out there that you can hurt. But she's also your legal wife and you definitely won't refuse her wish, or even you can want something on her."
Jef exhaled his breath a little harshly. He was a little confused by the discussion of his marriage with Kimmy. Not his request but he often got an attitude as if it was his wish.
"Mirabelle Louislyn, listen to me! What I'm living with right now is your request as well. I don't know what's going to happen up there, but as much as I can I'll keep my loyalty to you. Provided that..."
"As long as what?" Belle stared at the two beads of Jef's eyes in turn, waiting for the man to continue his sentence.
"As long as you always spend time like this with me. Talking together, sharing stories, creating romance for harmony. Gave me more attention. It definitely won't make me look away, it will add to my love for you" Belle smiled, but her eyes still showed fear there.
"It's because I'm busy, Jef. I'm afraid I can't give you what you want."
"At least you got more time than Kimmy. You can take advantage of that time" said the man.
Belle nodded despite the doubt. Jef gave a brief peck on the woman's right cheek, restoring her lost mood.
"If you're still sick, we're hospital, yeah. I'm afraid the wound is infected!"
"Yes, baby."
