Lewis tidied up his tie once again as he prepared to return home from work, today is Caitlin's birthday, he had prepared a small surprise that Brian helped in his apartment. “Is everything ready?” lewis asked Brian over the phone.
“Of course, me and Gabby will start lighting the cake candles when you give the cues on the doorstep later,” Brian replied with great enthusiasm.
“Alright then, I'll pick up Caitlin now.” Lewis closed the call, he tidied up the suit and stood up from his chair. Actually today Lewis had asked permission to go home early, at 3 pm which coincided with Caitlin's return from school, he would pick her up without sending a message first, he said, let Lewis wait a little while in front of the gate before Caitlin goes home with her friend.
Since Lewis began work, he had little difficulty in determining the schedule to pick up Caitlin, sometimes he booked a taxi to pick up Caitlin or occasionally Brian if he was having free time, sometimes he was the one who booked a taxi to pick up Caitlin, but it has been 2 weeks now Caitlin said if she has a one-way friend to the Apartment, either Jenny or Kimberlly, but Lewis definitely thinks is Jenny, Jenny, because Lewis often heard Jenny's name when Caitlin was calling on the balcony of her room.
Just as Lewis's elevator stops at the Lobby, a message from Caitlin appears. \[Uncle, don't wait for me if you want to have dinner, I'll go with my friends until tonight.\] Lewis grimaced softly upon seeing that incoming message, how is this? Does that mean the surprise he made will be canceled? Feeling too confused about what he should do, Lewis eventually contacted Brian again, hoping that the man would give him a little enlightenment.
“Um, how about? Ah, I know. Just let Caitlin be with her friends, you just have to tell her not to come home too late, she will continue this event the night alone, while eating pizza and a small talk, he said, that way the atmosphere gets warm and you can start approaching Caitlin so she thinks of you as her brother, how about?”
Lewis thought for a moment, what Brian said was true as well, it would not be too good to force Caitlin to stay home, instead of getting a chance close to Caitlin he would make Caitlin's hatred for her grow bigger. “Alright, that's a good idea, then I'll reply to the message first.”

Caitlin stared dislikefully at a message she had just read, what else did the man want to say? Does Lewis not know that he does not like the man? And even more annoying that boring man does not remember his birthday anymore, it has been 2 times he had a birthday since living with the man, but there are only questions. ‘You're birthday today? What are you expecting?’ and when Caitlin answered only with a headband until the night, there was not a single gift that Lewis gave. Gosh, it's so senseless and it's fitting that the man didn't have a single lover until now. “Huft, after all I don't expect anything from him,” grumbled Caitlin slowly.
A helping hand on his shoulder made Caitlin turn to Peter, the handsome man of Italian descent managed to approach Caitlin, the man who was being targeted by the women at his school is currently taking him to a restaurant to celebrate his birthday. Really lucky, he thought.
“What's up?’ ask Peter. Caitlin just shook her head as a sign of answer, she shifted Peter's hand slightly to let go of his shoulder, because honestly Caitlin felt uncomfortable with it.“Oops, sorry, let's go in, I can't wait to see your expression with my little surprise.”
Caitlin's smile expanded a little, she was also impatient with what Peter had prepared for her. “Come, then,” replied Caitlin.
When they started entering the restaurant, they were directed to a VIP room where some of Peter's friends were apparently already there with a cake that had been stuck with a lighted candle. “Happy birthday Caitlin,” shouted everything in unison and the day passed with great fun, many jokes of laughter that Caitlin felt with Peter and others until a message came in from Lewis made him aware if he had been there too long.
“Um, sorry, I don't really want to end this fun day, but my Uncle has asked me to go home,” said Caitlin with a bad taste, but thank God everything seemed to understand Caitlin and say goodbye one by one.
Now that only Caitlin and Peter are ready to go home, a waiters come and give Peter a bill. At first everything seemed normal, until something strange began to happen where Peter seemed to be confused looking for something in his bag and went back to check one behind him. “What's Peter?” ask Caitlin.
“A-I seem to have forgotten to bring my wallet, gosh why I was so careless,” Peter said then he kept his bag back and picked up the phone as if he wanted to contact someone. “I'm sorry, let me call my brother first, I just remember last night had opened my jacket in my brother's car, you're okay not a little late to go home?”
Seeing the hardships Peter faced made Caitlin feel sympathy, he quickly opened the bag and took his wallet and gave a card that he rarely used even though Selena always told him to shop using the monthly money given Austin, and it looks like today is the perfect day to use that money. “Then let me pay for it, after all this is my birthday.”
“Hey, it can't be like that, we better wait for my brother only, it won't be too long like.”
“It's okay, Peter. I'm quite grateful for today.”
“Oh Caitlin, I feel so useless and trouble you, I promise tomorrow will replace your money.”
