I Have to Come to Jakarta

"Yes. I understand that. Ask the doctor when I can go home? I don't feel at home in the hospital. Make the spirit disappear. Especially when my son comes home like this."

"Yes. I'll talk to the doctor. Mother don't worry. I got a sabbatical. We'll be together in a few days."

"Oh glad." Amelia hugged Dhira.

In Dhira's heart wept.

How her mother felt the weight of living apart from her. But how else, he got a job in a faraway place. Now he must be able to persuade his mother to come to Jakarta. Besides being able to under his supervision, his mother can do more intensive treatment.

In the morning, Dhira spoke with the doctor who treated Amelia. He was down when the doctor said there was no other way but to find a donor. His mother's condition is already weak and certainly over time will get worse.

But Leo calmly advised Dhira that his mother be taken to Jakarta and undergo another examination. Also finding a kidney in Jakarta is likely easier than in the Lampung area. Also the facilities in hospitals in Jakarta are more adequate and modern. You can even see a kidney specialist. There are some people who know Leo as a Nephrologist.

But in the end, Amelia was not willing. The woman refused to go to Jakarta. This frustrates Dhira. Somehow he persuaded his mother.

"Patience, parents sometimes trust their feelings more than explanation." Leo rested Dhira's head on his shoulder. This man was always stoic and loyal to accompany Dhira without even sleeping a bit.

"Fight against a mother like this."

"I know you're not one to give up easily. We'll try to persuade mom again."

"Thank you for being with me."

"That's my duty and responsibility. Because I love you and mom."

The soot in Dhira's eyes was glassy. Moved by Leo's attention and affection for him.

"Now we rest first. Bali uncle and aunt said they would take care of mom. We need rest too. If tomorrow mom finally wants to come, don't we have to be strong on the road. And it should be healthy to take care of mom later."

"Yes. But where are we going to sleep? There's no place here."

"So uncle said, we can sleep at uncle's house near here."

"Oh yes. I forgot that uncle Bali is home here."

Finally they slept that night at uncle Bali's house. Although heavy for Dhira, but Leo managed to calm him down.

The next day Dhira looks fresher. After a good night's sleep eating and bathing he seemed to gain new strength. He had prepared the words he would say later to persuade his mother to go to Jakarta. He went to the room where Leo slept. Slowly open the door and it turns out Leo is still sleeping well. He smiled at Leo who was sleeping tilted towards the door. The handsome face was very calm and pleasant to look at. He decided to go to the hospital first. Let Leo rest.

With quick steps, Dhira went to Amelia's room in the care. But he was very surprised when he saw his mother's bed was empty and even the blanket was folded neatly. His chest went down and up guessing where his mother went.

"Sus, Sister! Where is my mother?" Ask with a pale face.

"Oh his mother is going to the park with Ayunda's mother. Just got out. He said he wanted to sunbathe. Good weather. It's in front of the east entrance."

Dhira breathes a sigh of relief. His mind went where and he was scared. "Oh. Thanks Sus."

He stepped towards the door the nurse told him about and looked for his mother in the grassy field. He smiled as his mother and aunt spoke. Her mother was in a wheelchair and her aunt was standing behind her.

Dhira's steps came to a halt when faintly heard Ayunda's aunt mention Jakarta.

"You have to be strong anyway. It is a city of bitter and bad memories for you. But for Dhira it is the city of life. He got a job there and even got a girlfriend from there. How did you decide Dhira's hopes with the city. It could be that fate will make your daughter do something big that will win you."

"Hahhh, you don't know how cruel they are. I don't know what happens when they see or know we're alive. Just thinking about it made me feel like I was going through that horrible incident. Up until now I'm still goosebumps and my chest hurts every time I remember that."

"Look, your son is no ordinary girl. He is great and strong-minded. Didn't you forge it that hard in order to protect the two of you? Look, do you doubt his abilities? Why are you so pessimistic now?"

"When Dhira was a child, you always told me 'see Ayunda, my daughter is tomorrow who will drag the wicked into hell. With his own hands will break the bones they pay for what we both have experienced.' Where's your spirit? Why did it suddenly disappear? Your fight is not over. You can't hide yourself forever. When you are able, you have to face them. And trust your daughter."

"Let's go, it feels like my courage is disappearing. I admit I'm scared. I'm afraid Dhira why. Not to mention I'm sick."

"What you're afraid of. But at least Dhira deserves to know who Mel's father is."

"Yes. But I'm not ready."

"That's what to Jakarta. Good medicine to keep you healthy and strong. At least Dhira is not divided into focus when one day meets the thing you are afraid of. Try to imagine the situation, you are sick, there is a problem because Dhira already knows who his father is. How does Dhira deal with it simultaneously?"

"Then from that, go. If indeed you meet it means it's time Dhira knew the truth. Otherwise, it means you can treat well."

Dhira now understood, the reason his mother did not want to go to Jakarta. It turns out his father was from that town. It means his mother was in Jakarta. He was curious about his mother's past. But the two mothers no longer talk about it. They've changed the subject.

His blood rippled re-imagining the words of the two women. They were once obliterated apparently. Her life and her mother were not wanted by the person her mother feared. Why could that be? Did his mother make a mistake? So, all this time his mother tried to hide. A little began to reveal her mother's past.

At noon Leo came to the hospital. He brought lunch for them all.

While eating they discussed the continuation of Amelia's coronation. Wisdom and authoritatively Leo expressed his opinion. At first, Amelia refused, but eventually complied.

Dhira smiled happily at his mother's loss. Even her mother was honest about her kidney that lived one. Had made their tears trickle with the story of Amelia who was forced to sell her kidneys eighteen years ago because she had to operate on Dhira's forehead which grew lumps. Not having money, making him have to fight more so that his daughter can grow normally like other healthy children. Those are the marks on Dhira's forehead and head.

Meanwhile, Leo moved quickly. Before seeing Dhira and the others, he first saw the doctor who handled Amelia. Ask a lot of things about the disease of his future mother-in-law. Once he got an explanation he immediately contacted his acquaintance doctor who is a kidney expert even ordered a kidney for Amelia. Fortunately Amelia's blood type is not a rare group so the hope of getting a kidney is not too difficult. It will not be as easy as treating other diseases that only require treatment, but there is still hope with the common kidney type. The hope now is that there will be no unexpected difficulties. If Amelia's condition persists then there is time to get a kidney for her.

***

It has been two weeks that Amelia has been in Jakarta. Fortunately he can still undergo outpatient so it does not make the expenditure of Dhira swell.

They're contracting a house near the hospital. Not too big but clean and comfortable. Leo's persuasion to stay in the new house that Leo showed Dhira that day did not work. His lover was too careful not to happen something bad in the future.

Amelia's coronation also went well. As long as he is not stressed and exhausted his condition is still fairly safe. Certainly not separated from the drug and doctor's observation.

The day of Dhira passed without feeling. His busy work at the office also took care of his mother making him never count days and dates. Sometimes I forget the day.

"Darling, you're getting a fuckin' shit now. Are you too tired?" Leo stroked Dhira's shoulder. They were sitting enjoying the night in the courtyard.

"No. Or at least sleep." That's right, Dhira has trouble sleeping because he is too anxious to think about his mother.

"Tomorrow I'll put a nurse to take care of mom. You have no time to rest. Look at your chin getting pointy." Leo pinched slowly on Dhira's chin.

"No need. I'm still strong. I will not be taken care of by others. I'm not too tired anyway. Mom's not hard to take care of. I just need to prepare food, remind me to take medicine."

"Luckily I was given a woman as good and as strong as you." Leo kissed Dhira's head. "Oh yes, yesterday I had news from a friend, he said there is a prospective donor. Hope this one doesn't have any problems." Four times there have been reports that willing to donate a kidney to Amelia but all four are not eligible for a transplant. And this is the fifth. Leo did not play with his help.

Dhira did not answer. He stared blankly ahead.

"Hey, think what? I'm talking about mom."

"Yes, I heard. After I thought, let my kidneys. No need to buy any more kidneys."

"Andhira!" Leo's face was tense hearing his lover's words. "Besides being too risky, you're the only one that mom has. You have to think about the future for both of you. Look at how mom is doing right now. The same thing could have happened to you."

"I'll take care of my health after surgery."

"No! I don't agree. There is already a candidate to cure the mother. You don't have to live that kind of life. Your journey is long, and it concerns your future."

"Mother's health is also one of my future. Why would I succeed if I couldn't help my mother." The voice of the raucous Dhira held back the cries.

"Hsss. You just pray and take care of your own health. About mom handing it to me. We just have to wait until the right time. I can be healthy again. I'll have surgery after that you don't have to worry anymore. Hopefully this candidate qualifies then everything will be under control."

"Our money is not enough. The same savings from the sale of the garden is only enough for the operation. For the cost of buying a kidney..."

"Are you stupid or what? You don't have to think about the cost. I'll handle everything. Garden sales money save. Later after a healthy mother you can model mother to open a business in this city. Don't buy another garden so you don't come back to Lampung."

"But it costs a lot. How I let you endure it. I'm not good. And I don't know when I have the money to give it back."

"Ck, you always thought I was someone else. I consider you my family even like myself. What I'll do for you. Aren't you like that too? You'll do anything for me too? Because we love each other."

Dhira did not answer. He just looked down. 'No matter what happens in the future Leo, no one knows what our relationship is like. This little heart is always doubtful. Especially with your parents' attitude.' Only in Dhira's heart was complaining.

"Well, daydream again." Leo patted Dhira's head slowly.

"What if we're not fooled? Isn't everything you do a mere waste?"

"Do you not believe in the power of love?" Ask Leo. "If our love is as great as ours, I'm sure we're a match." Optimistic, that's Leo.
