A few months after hearing Sumiarsih married Juanda, Guus Van Der Kruk decided to return to his native Netherlands. There, he gets to know another woman named Eline. To this figure, the escape of the love of the big tall man was anchored. Not until it took a long time, both of them also said vows and promises of loyalty at the altar of the church.

Not without reason, Guus chose Eline as his future wife. Because the woman is the son of a state official who has power there. Eline's father was a high-ranking Dutch royal military general. So it is not surprising that Guus' career has increased quite rapidly.

While waiting for the right moment, Guus Van Der Kruk secretly searched for news about Sumiarsih with her husband, Juanda. In addition, additional news obtained is that the land manager of Kampung Sundabarakar, has a close relationship with a local regional official, named Hansen. So, while devising a certain strategy, Guus invited Eline to move to live in the colonial colony, namely Indonesia. Of course everything is arranged in such a way as to the influence and services of the in-laws.

Three years old or when Roosje was still young, suddenly word spread that Eline was found dead horribly on the edge of a forest. All the allegations and evidence point to a group of people, including two of them are his father Sumiarsih and Hanan himself. They were both tried, thrown in jail, and the last news the family received was dead.

"Her father Sumiarsih and Hanan are alleged to have leaked state secret data to the rebels (fighters - Pen) and aided their movement (fighters). This was discovered by a wife of an important state official named Eline. Then they killed the woman and dumped her body in a forest rim." As soon as the news spread in the midst of the surrounding community. But it was never mentioned, what was the name of the husband of the victim who was killed at the time.

One thing that escaped the attention of some parties, including from the Sumiarsih family and Juanda itself that there is someone who stands strong behind the series of sly stories, namely, he was named Guus Van Der Kruk.

The grudge possessed by Guus did not stop there. A few years later, the man with a large height began to target the figure of Sumiarsih himself. With the influence and power of his in-laws, Guus managed to cut Hansen off from his position in Kedawung Village. Then after that, then he himself replaced by choosing Kampung Sirnagalih as a daily service house. None other than to facilitate the pecking of the Juanda Juragan family.

Since coming to power there that, little by little, Mr. Guus deceived the efforts of the husband of the ex-lover, Sumiarsih.

Mr. Guus' daydreams instantly froze when his only daughter, Roosje, came to bring a cup of fresh tea to him.

"Drink first, Pa," Roosje said in surprise. "In the near future lunch will be prepared," he added again while sitting in his original seat. Face to face with his father to continue their chat that had paused.

"Ah, you're the guy, Roos. Surprising Papa," the man was accompanied by a gentle smile while looking at the child's face. "Papa's busy reminiscing about Papa's past with your Mama's people."

Roosje smiled back gently, then chimed in, "I think, Papa is probably overshadowing Papa's love story with that of Mama Hanan. He-he."

Intentionally the girl trapped her father with the last sentence just now and it turned out to be fruitful.

"Ah, you could have been, Roos," said Mr. Guus, sliding the cup closer. "There may be Papa still hopes on that woman who has dumped Papa first. This Papa's heart and love, only for an Eline. Your mama," the man returned unknowingly.

Mr. Guus glared. "Papa said that Sumiarsih was just a friend, Roos. There is no such thing as love. Ha-ha-ha!" He laughed to himself mixed with a sour look. "Then from that, it's appropriate for a friend to help each other's people. Right, Roos?" ask the man after he stops sniffing.

Roosje said softly, "That's right, Papa. I'm so happy, Papa's done a really good thing."

The girl looked into her father's eyes. Feeling that there is still something stuck and unsolved behind the sound of laughter. 'Could Papa still expect that Mama Hanan's heart? Highlight Papa's eyes during meeting Sumiarsih earlier, like not wanting to escape and leave the feeling of love since long ago.'

"There's another one Roos wants to ask Papa," Roosje said.

Ask Mr. Guus, "What is it, Roos? You people want to know what else about Papa's past, huh?"

Roosje. "Not that, Pa," he said, "but about Hanan."

The old man raised an eyebrow. "Hanan? What's with that young man?" She began to think that her daughter was indeed putting her heart on her ex-boyfriend's son. "For that, you asked to come there, Roos?"

Once again Roosje shook his head. "Not so, Papa," she replied, avoiding her father's eyes. "This is about Hanan's application for assignment in Kedawung Village as a health worker."

"Then, what's your problem, Roos baby?" ask Mr. Guus to investigate. "Isn't that good? That's a young man, the son of a well-respected man in this village. That way, there will be many people who come for treatment later. Not like that old mantri who is often tired of working time. The presence of the Hanan people, according to Papa, is clearly very necessary by local residents, heh."

Roosje nodded, then said, "That's right, Papa. But what about that Papa's plan to ask Kervyn to later serve in the same place as well, Papa?"

Master Guus frowned. Thinking about it, the old man revealed, "That's better, isn't it? There were two young men in charge of serving the citizens and Papa hoped, Kervyn would later get closer to this Roosje son of Papa. He-he-he. You guys must miss Kervyn a lot, don't you?"

"Yes, I'm very happy, Papa," Roosje said with a slow nod. But his eye biases like holding a sense of doubt and for that one thing, he does not want his father to know.

Deep down, the girl often misses Kervyn. The young man he knew as the closest figure while still living in The Hague. But since knowing Hanan, suddenly, it was the last man who was often missed.

'What if Papa knew that I liked Hanan, his son Sumiarsih. While Mama Hanan was someone who had been close to Papa, ' he whispered in his heart. 'From Papa's own attitude earlier, I feel Papa does still love that Mama Hanan. Then, how about this later, if Kervyn really comes together to stay here? Do I have to keep pretending to love Kervyn? While my heart was now already stolen by Hanan's presence.'

Would Roosje give up on her own doubts? No. gabe. He always tried to be sure that whatever he wanted, would come true. Including must have Hanan though.
