Chapter 2: Rebirth and Returning

The sky was still fluttering as the servants from the Pei family threw Yun Ruoyan into the street as if they were disposing of a dog carcass.

There were a few people walking on the streets, discussing the impending execution of the Yun and Lin families. When they saw Yun Ruoyan being cast out of the manor, all they thought about was that she was just a female servant who had committed a great sin or another; no one could have imagined that she had once been the full-fledged daughter of the Yun family, or the wife of the host Pei.

The rain soaked Yun Ruoyan's body. Before she married Pei Ziao, she had even started a great quarrel with her grandmother because of the relationship between her and Pei Ziao. However, based on today's events, it was clear he was the one who was wrong.

Grandma, grandma.he was the only one who really treated her well in this world. No matter what, Yun Ruoyan had to meet him once more before the execution, even if it was just to apologize in vain.

But after a long period of torture and poison that he had just swallowed, he no longer had the ability to stand on his own accord. After trying and failing a few times, the most he could do was crawl on the floor as he pulled himself forward with his hands.

The rain mixed with the bloody creek on his body, leaving a terrifying trail along the way as Yun Ruoyan crawled forward.

Almost, he's almost on stage!

But before he could get any further closer, a call sounded, "It's time—!"

"No, no ..." Yun Ruoyan reached out towards her family, shouting with her last breath, but her voice was completely sunk by the wind and rain.

When Yun Ruoyan regained her senses, all she could see were traces of blood emanating from the stage. Blood droplets, diluted pink from the rain, stained her dress.

Traces of bloody tears fell from his eyes.

Is this the end? He couldn't even see his family for the last time before their execution! In her sadness and sadness, as her breathing became irregular and rough, she felt blood and bile rising into her throat.

And as he lay dying, Yun Ruoyan could not help but cry in the rain. It was a heart-wrenching voice, as if he was trying to throw all his grievances and sufferings at once into heaven.

The Yun and Lin families, both wealthy families, were briefly executed—all because of him, Yun Ruoyan! And that was when he swore once more: if he ever lived again, he would never allow himself to suffer, nor forgive those who had left him in such trouble. Oh, how much he hates himself, naivety and lack of perception, and those who orchestrated this disaster!

An umbrella opened above Yun Ruoyan's head, accompanied by a curious voice. "Yun Ruoyan?"

Yun Ruoyan was lying on the floor, her eyes barely opening. All he could see was a dark robe with gold embroidery, the signature of a noble.

"I think you'll wake up and see the truth sooner." His tone was unaffected, almost heartless, as if he was stating a fact.

“Ha...” Yun Ruoyan curled up, smelling the scent of blood rising around her. "Even if I become an evil spirit, I will never forgive them!"

"That sounds more like you I remember." The voice of the dark-robed man sounded again. He bowed and stroked Yun Ruoyan's hair. "As you know, the weak have no right to live."

Without the right to live?

Yun Ruoyan smiled as her surroundings became ice-cold, as if her breath was going to freeze in her throat. If he could relive these days, he would never allow such a disaster!

The man did not hear any further response from her. He stretched out a slender finger towards his nose, frowning.

A black-clothed guard beside him stared at the woman on the ground, his cold face expressionless. "Your Majesty, he seems to be dead."

Only then did the man pull back his finger. "Yes you're right."

Cough! Uhuk!

When Yun Ruoyan came to her senses once more, all she felt was a hum in her brain that caused her to cough violently. Only when he stopped did he slowly open his eyes and stare at the scene in front of him. It took a while before the fog in front of his eyes dissipated, as if he had woken up in the middle of a nightmare.

Yun Ruoyan looked at him confusedly, not speaking for long enough.

He vaguely remembered this face. It seemed to be one of the female servants she had before her wedding, a warm and intelligent girl.

But she got married three years ago, and she never saw that waitress again.

"Peoni?" Yun Ruoyan asked carefully.

The Peony immediately replied, "Yes, Miss, I'm here!"

Yun Ruoyan became dazed.

What the hell's been going on? He clearly remembered that he was force-fed with poison by Pei Ziao, and the terrible execution of the Yun and Lin families, and he fell in the rain, and then… there's nothing.

He should be dead! The peony should never appear before him, unless he comes back to life once more!

"Miss, is something wrong?" Seeing Yun Ruoyan in a daze, Peony glanced at her secretly several times. "Miss, if we don't go to the old lady's residence now, we'll be late..."

Yun Ruoyan felt her head filled with cotton. He took off his blanket and immediately got up. “Peony, my head hurts a little. Can you remind me what happened?

"Of course your head will hurt, miss, you've slept for so long!" When Peony helped Yun Ruoyan wake up, she recounted, “The old lady just sent word saying that the jade ornament passed down by the empress dowager to her had gone missing, she said, so everyone gathered in the large hall to find out what could have happened. . We can't be late!”

Yun Ruoyan fell silent once again.

Her grandmother, empress dowager, jade ornaments, was missing…

He remembered this series of events very clearly, but it was something that happened five years ago. The entire family made a huge fuss about this incident, and somehow, he ended up becoming a scapegoat. But he did nothing; he was clearly framed!

Because of this incident, even her grandmother turned against her.

Did he really go back five years? Did heaven look suitable to give him a new life, after he died at the hands of Yi Qianying and Pei Ziao?

Yun Ruoyan sat in front of her dressing table. Reflected in the mirror was a young face, which might be beautiful but for the bright red birthmark on her right cheek, extending from the corner of her eyes to the base of her nose, giving her a frightening appearance.

Yun Ruoyan raised her hand and touched her birthmark.

Did heaven hear his request? If so, he would not have wasted this opportunity. To those who had plotted and plotted against him, he would pay his debt in blood!

He clearly remembered that Yi Qianying was the one who stole the jade ornament, but the shame and inferiority had prevented him from daring to tell the truth. There must be a reason heaven sent him back to this particular time, and he would definitely not repeat the same mistake!

And for Pei Ziao, he would also pay.

“Peony, something simple is enough. Grandma's problem is very urgent, so we must not let everyone wait.”

Peony glanced at Yun Ruoyan's reflection in the mirror. The young miss seemed to have changed after her long map, but she did not know how.

He only dared to glance at her once before dropping his gaze and carefully combing her long hair. “Ya, miss.”

Immediately after, accompanied by the Peony, Yun Ruoyan walked towards the meeting.
