Chapter 4: Trash Worth Being Punished

Yun Ruoyan ignored Yi Qianying's accusations and turned her head towards her grandmother. “Grandma, trust me. I promise I will help you recover the jade ornaments and find the real culprit!”

No one expected the gentle and frail Yun Ruoyan to say something so bold, and even Yi Qianying was a little confused by his words. When matriarch Yun looked towards Yun Ruoyan once again, there were a few additional tones of appreciation in her gaze. "Are you confident?"

“My name is tarnished today—I have to prove my innocence, and I refuse to be mistreated by others! Grandma, please give me this chance.” He understands his grandmother well. Her grandmother was the only one in the family who believed in her, but even she ended up losing hope.

In the past, the straw that broke the camel's back was when Yun Ruoyan was blamed for the theft of jade ornaments.

But this time, he was sure he could change all this.

Yi Qianying wanted to be praised by everyone and loved by everyone, but Yun Ruoyan would ruin her plans!

“Grandma, I did see Qianying that night, but the person who stole the jade ornament was not me!” At this point, Yun Ruoyan slowly looked towards Yi Qianying, and the crowd followed her gaze. "That's it!" Yun Ruoyan raised her hand and pointed straight towards Yi Qianying.

Yi Qianying was silent. He never imagined Yun Ruoyan would accuse him like that in public! Accustomed to Yun Ruoyan's weakness and silence, she clearly felt uneasy about her suddenly fiery behavior.

Just when Yi Qianying was about to speak in protest, Yun Ruoyan spoke to her. “That night, while I was walking past Grandma's residence, I saw Qianying running away with something clasped in her lap. Back then, I didn't realize why Qianying was so confused. After Qianying recounted the events of that night with our roles reversed, I now understood that what she was carrying on her lap was stolen jade jewelry!”

Yun Ruoyan knelt on the floor, her tone solemn. “Grandma, I know I don't receive as many gifts from the household as my sister, but I will never steal from the household! I don't like to fight with others, but I also refuse to blame me for this theft!”

"Ruo-Sister Ruoyan!" Yi Qianying's hands trembled as she propped up her trembling legs. “I didn't steal a single item! What proof? Grandma, I'm innocent!”

"Evidence?" Yun Ruoyan looked at Yi Qianying coldly. "Qianying, if you're really innocent, are you willing to have your room ransacked?"

"You!" Yi Qianying's tongue was bound, her slender fingers slightly wobbly as she pointed straight towards Yun Ruoyan.

Matriarch Yun looked at Yi Qianying's trembling lips, and then at Yun Ruoyan kneeling on the floor, her face was firm. “Come go to room Qianying.”

A group of people immediately rushed towards Qianying's room as soon as the order was issued. The family servant began to comb through Yi Qianying's treasure gently and carefully.

Yun Ruoyan could not help but think back to what the search in her room had been like in the past. His entire room had become chaotic, sheets strewn across the floor. When the servants were unable to find the ornament, Lady An and the others accused her of selling it. Yi Qianying's treatment was much better than the one she received.

Her grandmother saw and understood discrimination clearly, but even though she sighed, she did not say anything. He was more interested in Yun Ruoyan's response to this behavior.

A moment later, Yun Ruoyan did speak up. “Mrs An, why does our waiter look so lethargic, even for a simple task like searching? If outsiders looked inside, wouldn't they be commenting on how inappropriate households are managed?”

Madam An's face froze. When did Yun Ruoyan become so eloquent and eloquent?

Yi Qianying's face paled as Yun Ruoyan smiled.

Suddenly, Yun Ruoyan's gaze lit up as she stepped forward. "Wait!"

In front of the dressing table, a waiter raised a very beautiful dressing box. He was about to check it out when Yi Qianying snatched it from his grasp.

This was something that Yi Qianying's late mother had left for her, and Yun Ruoyan had only seen her once. It was filled with all sorts of jewelry and ornaments, and Yi Qianying liked it very much.

"Qianying, what is this?"

A flash of panic appeared on Yi Qianying's face before she forcefully calmed down again. “It was an ornamental box that my mother left me; both Grandma and Lady An knew it!”

Madam An obviously did not miss Yi Qianying's panic, as she immediately left to smooth things out. After all, even though Yi Qianying was not really a member of Yun, she was smart and smart, and was much better than trash like Yun Ruoyan. “It's true, we all know about this. Qianying was a dutiful girl, and she was very protective of her mother's possessions! We don't need to scrap.”

What kind of a thin reason is this? Yun Ruoyan smiled coldly; she could not follow Madam An's logic. “Given how valuable something like this is, isn't that why we should check it out? If there really is nothing inside, then my brother's mistake will be erased, right?”

Yi Qianying gripped the box in her hand, her face flushed red. At this point, matriarch Yun finally spoke up. "Qianying, bring the key."

Yi Qianying could only take the key out of her pocket. He bit his lip, unable to muster enough courage to open the box.

As the key slid from his grasp, Yi Qianying knelt on the floor once more. "Grandmother! I know I made a mistake! It was just a momentary folly, and I dare not do it again!”

Everyone present was surprised. They never expected that an obedient and kind-hearted girl like Yi Qianying would actually steal the jade ornament!

Yi Qianying knelt on the floor, her head almost touching the ground. One could only see his trembling shoulders, as if he would cry at any moment.

Yun Ruoyu picked up the key on the floor and opened the makeup box in a giggle.

"Ah, it really is a jade ornament!" Yun Ruoyu called out at once. “Yeah, Qianying, you really stole it ?! You even tried to blame our older sister .. ”

Yun Ruoyao was also shaken to the point. Clearly, even he did not know about it, and he was the closest to Yi Qianying in this house! Madam An felt somewhat speechless: after all, she was the one who had been protecting Yi Qianying all along. He looked at matriarch Yun. "Mother, how do you think we should handle this?"

"Do you need me to teach you this as well?" Grandma Yun Ruoyan frowned. “Mrs An, Ruoyan is the only daughter born as the wife of the Yun family. When did she become someone who could be intimidated by outsiders who were not even part of this household?”

Yi Qianying knelt on the floor, unable to speak for herself out of fear. Madam An looked at her with pity — she originally only wanted to give a small punishment, but matriarch Yun had stated that it should be something that was at least quite harsh.

Madam An sighed and gestured to the servants. "Come, take Miss Yi to the ancestral hall, and have her kneel there all day and night!"
