Chapter 44: I Will Save Them!

“Of course not?” Lin Qingxue opened her eyes wide and continued to look at the lion far below, who remained silent, as if dead.

After a while, almost as Zhuo Yifeng had expected, one of the beasts started moving and then stood up, as did the other three.

The four beasts looked at the cliff, and, seeing that they could not reach Yun Ruoyan's group, howled loudly several times before turning around to leave.

"You're right!" Lin Qingxue turned around and looked at Zhuo Yifeng with big eyes, her face full of admiration. "Sister Zhuo, you are amazing!"

Lin Qingchen sighed in relief. Based on Yi Qianying's cultivation, there was no way she could make a powder that could even put a high-level beast to sleep. If he could, as his partner in Yun Ruoyan's group, Lin Qingchen would feel an overwhelming burden to follow him.

"When are we going?" Lin Qingchen sat at the entrance of the cave and asked.

“After tonight. Mystical-eyed lions are nocturnal creatures, and they will return to their nests in the morning. Safe to go in the morning, ” Zhuo Yifeng said.

Yun Ruoyan's lips curved as she closed her eyes once more.

Zhuo Yifeng looked at Yun Ruoyan as she closed her eyes and surveyed the surroundings. Inside the cave it was dark, but Zhuo Lin'er did not detect any trace of any beast within, so he also closed his eyes and slept.

After a long day of running, the group fell asleep relatively quickly.

"Qiu, qiu, Madam!" As he was half asleep, Yun Ruoyan heard Qiuqiu's voice.

"What's up, Qiuqiu?"

"Wake up, something's wrong!"

"What's? What's wrong?" Yun Ruoyan immediately woke up and sat up straight.

Lin Qingxue, who was sleeping on her lap, also woke up due to her sudden movements. He sat up straight and rubbed his sleepy eyes. "What's up, Ruoyan?"

Yun Ruoyan let out a shushing sound as she pushed Lin Qingchen up.

"What's wrong?" Lin Qing Chen asked.

"Something's wrong!" Zhuo Yifeng spoke up, waking up on his own, his eyes shining in the darkness. Lin'er said that he could smell the snake again.

“What, there are snakes also here?!” Lin Qingxue jumped in fear.

“I can't be sure. No such scent before, but suddenly appeared out of nowhere.” Zhuo Lin'er's equally bright eyes stared towards the interior of the cave as he slowly extended his finger. "There."

The others looked in the direction he pointed, and they seemed to see a pitch-black dot in that direction, like an indelible stain that would not disappear no matter how much people rubbed it.

“I'll go to check it out. Stay here and don't move, ”command Yun Ruoyan, as she walked slowly towards the direction Zhuo Lin'er pointed out.

Near the entrance of the cave, there was still a faint trace of moonlight, but the inside of the cave was completely devoid of any light source. Yun Ruoyan took out the inner core of the fire dog and held it in front of her, borrowing its dim lighting to discern what was ahead.

In the darkest part of the cave, Yun Ruoyan suddenly saw two green orbs.

"Mrs, careful!" Qiuqiu suddenly called out, and then Yun Ruoyan saw a gigantic snake emerge from the shadows, his eyes shining green amidst the darkness.

Yun Ruoyan hurriedly took a few steps back as the snake approached, finally illuminated by the moonlight.

"High level magic switch!" Zhuo Lin'er softly exclaimed.

"Sister Ruoyan, be careful," Lin Qingxue wanted to call, but Lin Qingchen covered her mouth.

“The higher the level of the snake-type magical beast, the weaker his eyesight. Given how big this snake seemed, it was probably almost blind, ” whispered Lin Qingchen, after reading some relevant notes about such a ferocious beast in his grandfather's study.

Yun Ruoyan was also aware of this, but she could not do anything about it. He quietly directed a gust of spiritual energy into his mind, ready to summon Feilai Blade at any moment.

A moment later, as if finding nothing, the snake slowly turned its head and appeared to return to the darkness to sleep.

Everyone could not hold a breath of relief.

But, suddenly, a cunning ray shone in the snake's eyes. His head quickly spun backwards as it opened its wide jaw and stuck out its tongue, licking Yun Ruoyan's face.

"Gee!" Lin Qingxue broke free from Lin Qingchen's restraint and shouted.

Despite the sudden danger, Yun Ruoyan was surprisingly calm. He woke Feilai Blade from his slumber, and in a few moments, the sword appeared in front of him and flew, like a beam of light, into the snake's open mouth.

Based on Yun Ruoyan's current cultivation, even with the perfect control of Sword Feilai, there was no way he could slaughter such a high-level beast, but Yun Ruoyan had chosen the best opportunity to attack, no way he could, and the sword didn't do it. it didn't have to overcome one of the snakes defenses.

The soft and tender internal organs of the snake are impervious to the raging of the sword, and it thrashes and hisses in pain.

The cave shook and debris fell while the group avoided the falling debris carefully.

After quite a while, the snake finally lay motionless on the ground, its green eyes shining out.

"Is it dead?" Lin Qingxue clutched her chest, panting heavily, as she walked to Yun Ruoyan's side and looked at her surroundings. “I think I saw a beam of light suddenly fly into the snake's mouth, but I don't know what it is. Sister Ruoyan, have you seen her?”

“No, what lights? Could it be just an eye trick?" Yun Ruoyan had long since taken back the Feilai Blade.

Lin Qingxue rubbed her head before turning to Lin Qingchen and Zhuo Yifeng, who paid no attention to anything.

"It seems so ..." Lin Qingxue did not suspect anything was wrong as she looked at the snake head on the ground, smiling. “The mystic-eyed lion may have blurred, but this snake is ours! The point will be very valuable, right?”
