Rayyan
Chapter 22. The Passage of Dear Ones

This room looks crowded, but in fact it is only quiet that everyone catches. No one knew why this had suddenly happened, the figure looked extremely stern in front of many people. No one knows, in fact, that he is in pain. His gallant body was just a mere display, people were easily fooled by his attitude which seemed to be fine. Including women with puffy eyes in the corner of the room. While his two daughters-in-law tried to calm down on the left and right.

Kensie and Shan stood next to the people in black with their sad gazes. No one can smile on this dark day.

Their two sisters were also standing at the same place. With red eyes, holding back the cry that they had been holding. Trying to stand up in front of everyone.

The figure of grandfather who always gave wise advice to them is no longer there. All cried when his body was lifted, then put into his final resting place. No one knows when or how death came. Everything can happen at any time. All the families came, including Arnold and Sasha who seemed to forget their problems. Renand unceasingly asked why his sleeping grandfather was put into a burrow and then filled with wet soil. He continued to cry when the mound was sprinkled with flowers, then asked again 'why?!'

Shan looked at his family who came quickly when he heard this sad news. Thank goodness they still have a conscience to go to his grandfather's funeral.

"You go to the room!"

"No, I'm here. The same lo." Kensie looked at Shan fixedly. He knew that the three people next to him were tired. They've been there since morning. When he came home from his grandfather's funeral, until noon.

"Gue knows you're tired, mending now you rest. Inget, in a few days you'll take the exam."

"Lo is coming too. Why not take a break?!"~Kensie

"Gue still wants to be here."

"Sister, is it really okay? We go upstairs first, right?!" Shan nodded. Look at Karel and Sam. He knew that the two children were secretly tired after almost a day of sitting together

"Why are you still here?!"

"Gue won't go if you don't go!" Shan let out his breath. Then stretch his legs. Then it went back as quietly as a few minutes ago.

"Ray why haven't you come home yet?" Kensie asked as she looked at the wide-open front door. But Shan was silent. Perhaps grandfather's departure leaves a deeper wound on Ray. The boy did not cry as the others sobbed. He just kept silent while looking at the mound of soil that was still wet. He was only silent when the others began to make a noise to calm the grandmother. And when the others started to leave the cemetery, he just kept quiet. He said nothing, but looked at the tomb while stroking it slowly.

Rion called out his name repeatedly, but the boy was silent. And still in his position. Ray is not that strong. He is weak and fragile. His mind was shaken, when the only person who continued to defend his existence was no longer there for him. When everyone had left the tombstone, he shouted as loud as he could. Hopefully after that, the heart will feel more relieved.

But what he felt was the opposite. The more he shouted loudly, the more he felt a void begin to creep around him. And his screams slowly faded. Replacing with sobs. Sean and Rion exchanged looks. It's sad to see it like this.

The loss of grandfather was enough to make them lose with a wound that seemed clearly plastered wide. Do not also make the teenager limp in the path that he has determined slowly. Do not make the teenager lose his cheerfulness and his wired voice.

...***...

Ray looked out the window looking bright. Strangely, however, he could see tiny dots that started falling from up there. He rarely sees this kind of thing. Usually, the sun with the clouds is never this bright. They may have re-established their old friendship.

Forget the clouds and the sun.

Now, he chose to sweep a glance. Trying to find where the person who had been arguing at length times high, then stopped because he broke the glass suddenly. What were they talking about outside for so long? Maybe something interesting.

He moved his foot towards the door.

"Lo don't lie, brother. Joking is not funny! Yesterday was fine, don't talk!!" Before Ray opened the door, he could hear their voices from here. What are they talking about? She's calling someone?!

"You guys come here! I wait!" The cold voice then filled the air. Phone connection is closed. He could clearly hear how Sam sounded.

"It's impossible, isn't it...sister?!"

"What's wrong?! Why you?!" Ray opened the door quickly. I realized that there was something strange about their conversation. He should have realized from the beginning. Sam rubbed his eyes, though he was clearly crying with a whim in front of the two men. As for Rion, the teenager was still silent. Stand up with a slight shiver in his hand. He patted Ray on the shoulder, then said, Well,

"Lo change clothes?! We're going home." Rion sighed. But Ray's not a stupid kid who just says 'yes' when told to. He needs to know the reason. Previously, Rion wanted to take Ray away very far from home, as if they would not return. But now, he easily said 'come home!'.

"Lo tell me first, what's the matter?! Why is Sam rich?! Why are you the same?! Why you?!!!"

"Let's go home! Grandpa's waiting for us!" Now Sam's sobbing is getting harder and harder his body just fell on the floor. And now, Ray already understood what Rion meant.

Grandpa was waiting for him...

...***...

The red tinge is now beginning to be seen, a sign for someone who has been tired all day to return home. However, some of them still chose to stretch the muscles for a moment. Then rest on a park bench, while looking at the orange sky. In fact, it is unfortunate that someone missed this amazing sight. Or, just Ray who felt himself never seen this beautiful thing before?!

The teenager was quieter than usual. There was no conversation between them. Only silence accompanied by the sound of car horns that are connected from the road there.

"Sister Ray ate, right?!" The sound adorned Ray's hearing. Making his attention to the teenager next to him. He smiled, nodding his head.

"I eat regularly, really." The teenage elak. Normally, Ray wouldn't care if he ate regularly or not. Maybe this time, he'll be free from Ray's next question. Which might be Rean could not lie to that figure.

"Not lie. I know you rarely eat, earn your own income every day, and plan not to continue education. Yeah, right?!" Rean breathed. Ray must have known from Sam.

"You're a pinter, not a rich brother. You can get scholarships everywhere. Why not try it?!" Rean took his breath back. This is what he doesn't want. He was only confused as to how he could answer Ray and break his opinion.

"Sister, I..."

"I need to remind you again, education is important. This country is in the hands of young people like us, how to grow if we don't want to go to school." Ray had never spoken this seriously. But this time, his sentence precisely aimed at the right target in the void space in his heart. Ray spoke slowly, not even the slightest emphasis in it. But, that sentence seemed to tear down what he had prepared long before.

"How come?!" Ray looked back at the teenager beside him.

"I want school. But I can't be selfish, there are still orphanage children who need higher school. So let me give up this time." Ray breathed. This time, he really could do nothing. He knew Rean would always give up. He doesn't even remember the last time he was selfish, since the first time they met.

"You sure?!" Rean nodded slowly.

"Look at me!" Ray's voice looks better. Rean looked away, starting to look at Ray who was now smiling warmly at him. The teenager stretched out both hands.

"You don't want to be hugged?!" Rean was riveted by the question. He thought Ray would get angry, then just leave him. But the assumption is wrong.

"Sister..sister Ray isn't angry?!"

"What are you angry about?! You make me proud you know?!" Rean was still in his place.

"So, really don't want to be hugged?!" Rean immediately slid into Ray's arms. He did not care how people looked at them with strange gazes.

"You always make me proud."

"Thank you..." Finally, of the many who tried to break his plan, there is still Ray who continues to support. He just needs that.

"I'm sorry, I can't do anything. I can only support you from behind, hoping you can be a successful person!"

They let go of each other's embrace.

"Sister.don't be sad anymore."

"Huh, sad?! Sad why, hmm?! I'm not sad!"

"So don't lie, so why don't you talk rich usually?!"

"I just need some time. I'm okay!"

"Sure brother keeps the same mind, Mr. Chandra, right?!" Ray breathed his breath.

"I told you, I just need time." Rean was relieved. It seems, Ray's situation was not as bad as he thought.

"Sister..."

"Yes, what?!"

"Tomorrow I've received my test scores, can we meet? I want Ray's brother to be the first to see my grades!"

"By the way, tomorrow I'm gonna run away from Rion, hehe!"

"But I'll be angry! Just talk about it..."

"If permission, it won't be granted! We'll meet again here, okay?!" Rean smiled. Then nod.

Both are trying to hide their pain. Try to be strong by encouraging each other. Or by exchanging laughter that from earlier they hold. Then they waved their hands when they wanted to leave from there.

Ray doesn't know why he doesn't feel the way he usually does. He looked at Rean's departure, until his back was invisible. He still looked at the path Rean had passed. Then shake, trying to think positively. He stepped out of his place with quick steps. Fear Rion will be angry if he stays there longer.

He didn't know that this might be their last chance to meet.

In good condition.
