SAVANTS
The 19th Chapture

Zoe patted his chest. "Oh, Victor. He's really mysterious.

He had recently left the city but no one knew what he was doing. Rumor has it he lives with Trace in town, but I'm not so sure. I think he's a spy or something."

"How do you tell them apart?"

"That's easy: Uriel, ultra intelligent; Victor .. um..very mysterious ...'

"cheating." My grunts.

Zoe grinned. "Will, wacky; Xav, X-treme sport; Yves, - yummy and you know how to pin down Zed." He sang the alphabet song. "If they use the Benedict family to teach letters, we girls will pay more attention."

I laugh. "I wonder why they're all back this weekend?"

"Maybe a family birthday? Mr and Mrs Benedict are really nice sometimes a little weird, but it's always nice if you stop by her house." He sipped his drink.

"I met Mr. Benedict on the river."

"Great, right? The only strange thing is why a man as smart as Mr. Benedict wants to spend his life running a ski lift. You should look at their bookshelves, full of things my brother read in college, philosophy, and so on."

"Maybe they're the kind of people outside the room."

"Maybe" He nudged me. "But he's someone who doesn't want to be outdoors right now."

Zed has abandoned his brothers and is headed straight for us. "Hi, Zoe, Sky.'' He greeted us both.

"Zed." Zoe waved at Yves who was watching her from across the room. "Everyone at home?"

"We have a little family business. You two look great."

Zoe swung her long hair over her shoulders, her bracelet clinking.

"Thank you, Zed. You don't look so bad yourself. I'm just gonna go and chase Yves. I'll see you again."

He slipped away, leaving the two of us in a corner of the crowd. Zed stood in front of me, blocking my view of the entire room so it felt as if it was just him and me in this room.

"Hi Sky" he said in a low voice.

"I thought we were greeting each other." Wow, this kid is sending hot air.

" I greeted you and Zoe earlier. This one's just for you."

"Oh." I bit my lips to stop my laughter. "Hi."

"I wasn't kidding when I said you looked amazing." He reached out and rubbed the loose curls behind my ears. "Where did all this come from?" while looking at my hair makeup.

"I keep it in school. This can be annoying when studying"

"I like it like this."

"Well, I don't have to clean my hair every night."

"I'd rather volunteer to clean your hair." Said.

"Oh."

"Yes, oh." He laughed and put his hands around my waist. "Should we go mingle?"

"What to?"

"certain. I want you to meet my mom and dad."

"Have you told them?" I don't believe everything about this soul mate talking, but if he does, I wonder what he has done about it.

"No, I want you to be happy with the idea when I tell them. They'll be thrilled when I deliver this news."

Is that the real reason, or is he just toying with me, spinning a thread to tie me up? I don't know if I can trust my instincts when I'm nearby.

"What about your brothers? Can I meet them?"

"You can meet Yves because you already know him, but I want you to stay away from the others."

"Why? Aren't they gonna like me?"

"How can anyone not like you?" He stroked my arm, making my hair goosebumps. "Not that. It's just that they'll tell you all the most embarrassing stories about me and you'll probably never talk to me again."

"I don't think that's possible."

He looked at me, with a gentle smile. "Yep, that's not going to happen"

We stopped looking for a moment Mr. Keneally, we joined and applauded as he finished his piano set.

Mr. Keneally smiled at the sight of my presence, then frowned as he looked at Zed beside me while embracing my waist.

"Do you want to play, Sky?" he asked, clearly thinking it was a good way to separate us.

"No, thank you, sir. Not for tonight"

Zed strengthened his embrace on my waist but did not hurt. "Do you want me to get you a drink, sir"

"You're so nice." He reassessed our partner. "It's nice to see Sky make such a good impact on you, Zed."

"The early days are not yet," I murmured.

"I want soda and Coke." Said Mr. Keneally.

"I'll take it right away." Zed released his grip on me and went into the crowd to catch a waiter. It's almost funny how he tried to impress me that he could be polite when he wanted to.

Mr. Keneally is obviously trying to figure out how to start a difficult topic. "The party's great"

"Everyone's looking after you?"

"Yes sir."

"If you have ... er .. problems with anyone, you know there's a school event, right" the music master jumped to my defense - even though I don't think he's quite ready to face Wolfman head-on.

"Yes, Mr. Joe told me. But I'm fine sir"

Zed's back. "One Coke, sir. Ready to go on, Sky?"

"Yes. See you, sir."

Mr. Keneally gave me a worried smile. "Thank you for the drink, Zed." He sat down and started playing the music of Mahler's funeral march.

"Message to me?" whispered Zed.

"Or me. People don't know why we're together."

"Don't know why I brought the prettiest girl at the party with me? Then they have no imagination." She laughed, when I saw her making me blush again. He rubbed his thumb against my cheek. "You're the sweet definition, you know that?"

"I hope it's a compliment."

" I know that even when I give you a warning - you know, about going out after dark.you listen to it right?"'

I nodded, not sure what else to do. He seemed so serious about it.

He smiled and tickled my neck with a strand of my own hair. "I was so upset that I had to do it just because of my dreams, I was still worried - but even so, it made me realize that you were cute."

"You never showed it." My word.

His lips curved with sourness. "I have an image to maintain. I thought I might fall in love with you at the parking lot when you scolded me. There's nothing sexier than a grumpy woman."

I wanted her to tell the truth, but I doubted. "Funny and sexy? I'm not like that."

"of course. If I'm a bass tone, you're a perfect, smooth A tone, making me hum."

I'm getting embarrassed "Zed... Shhhh"

"What, you don't like compliments?"

"I love it, I'm just confused what to do because of your praise"

"You just have to say, 'thank you, Zed-that's the best thing anyone's ever said to me."

"Will you stop wearing those fake British accentsit won't work!"

He turned his head back and laughed, drawing many eyes at us. He held my hand and kissed the back of my hand. "You're beautiful. I don't understand why I'm slow to realize what's going on with you"

I'm not ready to talk about feelings. "Is your dream always a reality?"

He frowned. "In one way or another. Don't worry, I won't let anything happen to you. I'll take very good care of you, Sky."

I don't know what else I can say about such a vague threat, but he scares me a little.

I changed the subject. "You know, Tina doesn't think you're my type" I pointed across the room where Tina was chatting with Sally.

She looked conspicuous in her long green dress; nelson approached - she did not miss the fact that she drew many amazed gazes tonight.

"Oh?" Zed looks amused. " So what's your type hmm?"

"Tina's opinion or mine?"

"Your opinion"

I lowered my head and looked at my new shoes before catching a glimpse of Zed's expression. I was really nervous, but I kept saying it. "Right now my type seems to be tall, arrogant, grumpy, and secretly very good."

"I don't think I know a man like that." Eyes glittering.

" Sky, right? How are you?" Father Benedict interrupted us, grabbed my hand and held it with his big palm.

His grip was warm like a hard worker. He was not surprised to see me side by side with his son after our last conversation at the river.

I get the impression his face rarely betrays his mind. Instead, his wife was a bundle of energy with big black eyes, the face exuding positive emotions, the body remained calm like a dancer.

He was the one who had descended his son with a Hispanic appearance. From the way Mr. Benedict's arm rests on his shoulder, you can see that they have a special energy together, hiss a quiet joy to each other.

"Sky" Karla broke my daydream, she smiled as she patted my wrist.

"It's nice to meet you, Mrs Benedict."

"Have our boys apologized to you? He talks rudely to you at the river"

I glanced at Zed. "In his own way."

"I see you understand Zed well. I'm very happy. It's hard for him to stay calm." Mrs Benedict touched my cheek lightly, before her eyes lost focus and she became a bit foggy . "But you too have passed through a dark-suffering life, which is far worse. I'm sorry."

My heart stopped beating.

"Mother" Zed warned. "Stop Mom"

He turned to Zed. "I just want to see."

"Yes, I can do it but not now" Zed snorted in annoyance.

"So much sadness for you Sky"

"Darling, Sky is here to have fun." Mr. Benedict led his wife away from me. "Let's visit us anytime, Sky. Our family will always receive you at home"

I want to run. These people make me see things again. I want to forget the incident - color' - getting into a box locked away in the dark. What can I do here with Zed Benedict? I shouldn't have tried.
