Sometimes Friends are the Enemy
Part 15's. The Struggling Debate

After the maths teacher left, soon the English teacher came and went to class. The teacher only briefly greeted his students then ordered all the students to sit down based on their respective groups.

"Mom sure you must have prepared your material well. All right, I'll call each group's name, and you present your research results."

The students in the class were 30. And Lyra's mother divided it into 6 groups of five people each. Betty got the number 2 sequence. So he thought there was still time to work on the material while the first sequence number presented his scientific work. He whispered to his groupmate,

"How's this? I forgot to work on it. I'm not preparing anything. But you've been prepared, haven't you?" Said worried.

"Oh.... How is this? We also prepared nothing. You are good at English, you. I only know the material in Indonesian. My grammatical fucked up."

The teacher told them to make some kind of scientific work. He gave them some topics then told her to choose. Among them, 'The impact of technology on young children, The influence of association on young children, the Importance of dating at a young age?, and the way to choose friends to get along wisely.' They must be able to explain what the positive and negative effects of the material are and provide evidence that supports the theory.

Then after all the students have been divided into their respective groups, the teacher immediately called the first group to come to the front of the class to present the results of his research. Then some students are asked to convey a rebuttal or opinion disagreeing with the theory they explain.

While some students were busy asking each other questions when the first group finished their research, Betty was busy with her group's material. He tried hard to prepare material that he could write. None of the students from his group raised their hands to give a single question, nor a rebuttal. They became the only group that was vacuumed from among the others.

Then suddenly the teacher's attention was diverted to his group and asked,

"Betty, Susi, Norma, Nita, Ira. Why are you guys quiet? You guys did it there from earlier. From that moment I noticed you were busy whispering. You gossiping? What are you guys talking about? If you have any questions, please raise your hand! Where's your research?"

Betty and her friends were silent and downcast. When the teacher scolded them, all of the students' eyes were instantly fixed on them with a myriad of meanings. Linda and Tuti were one group whispering, and,

Then the teacher said again,

Then the debate was resumed and got a good response from other groups as well as the teacher who was very happy with the results of their research.

The material we're going to present today is about, 'Are you dating at a young age?'" Betty was nervous to death.

Then Linda whispered to Tuti, "Surely she chose that topic. He's going out."

So they began to pay attention to every theory that Betty bluntly and very groggy. He said,

It's not very important. Because it can distort young people, especially those who are still in school from its main purpose. Many young people become out of control because of their still unstable emotions. Young people are very easily affected. Their goals or their resolve had not been firmly rooted in their hearts. And we can also see many young children end up quitting school because of getting pregnant out of wedlock. Their love is far greater than logic. Especially during puberty. So it would be better not to date at a young age. Especially at a very young age." Short words.

Then after he sat down, several students from each group started to raise his objections. Someone asked,

"You think, starting from what age is someone suitable or able to date? Because I think 20 years old is also very young and unstable. But some shows on television set an age limit for each particular show. For example, there is a writing, '18 years and above.' That means the age of 18 years can be categorized as adults. What say?"

Then another group asked,

"But I see a lot of young people become motivated after they date or start getting to know someone more personally. For example, maybe before they date, they are lazy to shower or brush their teeth. Even shoes or feet can be very smelly because they are lazy to clean. But after dating, they start to be neat and clean. That means dating at a young age is not wrong. How about that?"

Then there are others who convey their objections,

"If dating at a young age is wrong, or can be perverted, it means that there are certain rules so that dating at a young age does not distort. Because it is impossible or difficult to forbid yourself from dating. Especially if someone is already very interested in the opposite sex and indirectly, he is the one who gives the spirit to continue to enter school. They even said, 'Oh... "I agree a bit with his theory that dating at a young age can deviate a person from his priorities. Even because they choose to date at an age that is still unstable, they often fight because they are more concerned with ego and can consider themselves more important. Also not infrequently they often compare themselves with others who are not dating. Or it could be that the impact could affect a person's friendship if the dating is more prioritizing his girlfriend. But like other opinions, dating is also useful. Please specify in detail what the benefits are, and what the impact is, as well as how to find the right close friend."

All the questions and objections her friends had raised made her nervous and panicked. He did not know what to answer the refutation or support his theory.
