Chapter 4: The Nici Plan

"Shelia!!" Call Daren, nervously, she tried to strengthen her heart.

Shelia turned her head, she looked at Daren questioningly.

"What's wrong?" Shelia asked as she chewed on potato chips.

"Did you consider what I said the other day." Ask with a serious face.

"What questions?" Shelia turned her face back to focus on the drama series she was watching on television.

"Don't pretend to forget!" Cibir Daren, "I know you remember what I said back then. But, I'll repeat today, for Nic's sake."

Daren crouched down in front of Shelia, holding Shelia's hand.

"Daren what are you doing?!" Shelia was surprised by Daren's action, she was about to pull her hand, but Daren held her tightly.

"I like you, Shelia, I love Nic a lot too" Daren said, looking gently into Shelia's eyes. "Didn't you want to give a complete family to Nic, he wanted a father's affection. And I am the most appropriate! We already know each other's nature, Nic already considers me his Papa!" Daren.

"Daren, Nici is still a child she doesn't understand anything yet, don't take her words seriously." Shelia smiled awkwardly, while pulling her hand slowly.

"I knew he was a child, precisely because of that I wanted to be his rightful father, Shelia! I already love you, I want to take care of you all my life." Daren said firmly.

"Daren, I love you too...But, just as a friend. You can still be Nici's foster father, but... To get married, it's impossible." Shelia turned her face away, unable to look Daren in the eye, aside from her having no love for Daren, Shelia also knew that Anna had long since put her heart on Daren.

"Shelia, so you refuse me again? This is the 3rd time." Daren breathed a rough breath, "but no papa, I will remain patient and wait for you until you can open your heart to a new love!" Daren got up from her squat with a smile, instead of giving up because of Shelia's rejection, instead she was getting excited to get Shelia through Nicholas.

Behind the wall, a boy was peering at the two opposite sex together. He peeked while biting a red apple in his hand.

"Ck ck, Papi failed again. Should I intervene directly?" he murmured while clucking annoyed.

"But I have to test Mami's interest in Papi. I don't want to choose the original Papi candidate wrong." he added. Yes Nici, still not sleeping since he eavesdrop on the talk of Shelia and Daren from behind the wall between the kitchen and the living room.

He went back to chewing the Apples while thinking of a way, to test out what the Mama was really without any particular interest for his adopted Papi.

"Hem... I have an idea, hehe." Nici grinned, revealing her still-perfect milk teeth.

The next day, Shelia is preparing breakfast for him and his little Nici.

"Mommy!!" Shouted Nici from inside her room.

The prank...!!

Shelia immediately threw a bow in her hand, she ran away with a panicked face hearing Nici's screams from her room.

"Nici, what's wrong, son?! Are you hurt?" Shelia looked at every inch of Nici's body from her hands, legs, stomach, back, even her head did not escape from Shelia's vision.

"I'm not the one who hurt Mommy. But, Papi. He's in an accident, his hand is broken!" peeking Nicholas, which instantly made Shelia sigh in relief.

"Mommy thinks you're the one who got hurt. Next time, talk slowly Mami became shocked. After breakfast, we look at Om Daren." Shelia passed with relief, but after she reached the kitchen, it was her turn to shout.

"The food's charred!" Shelia quickly turned off the stove and looked sadly at the food on the charred frying pan.

After breakfast, Shelia and Nici go to Daren's apartment, which is not too far away. In 10 minutes they arrived.

Apparently, Anna was standing in front of the door of the Daren apartment while carrying a paper bag in her hand, she just stood while staring at the tightly closed door.

"Anna!" Scolds Shelia slowly.

Anna is very surprised, and almost wants to escape, but Shelia catches her hand.

"Where are you going?!" Pekik.

"A-I just accidentally passed by, I-I'm leaving soon." He said nervously.

"You want to see him, come on!" Invite Shelia, she knows very well if Anna indeed deliberately came to see Daren's condition.

"Errr. I have to go, I have business." Anna wants to go back, but Shelia blocks her hand.

"Anna's... Don't be like this, if you like him you have to be brave." Shelia is encouraging.

'Hem, so Aunt Anna likes the Papi candidate?' Nici, looking at Anna's face from below, with her hand still in Shelia's grasp.

Anna breathed a heavy sigh, then nodded, she turned to look at Nici led by Shelia, "Hay Nici, you are handsome. Make aunty gemes." Anna crouched down while pinching Nici's cheek.

"Hay is also aunty." Nici replied, she looked strangely at Anna.

'So Aunt Anna likes Papi! Hem..maybe this is the cause of Mami nolak Papi, but let me see first. If Mami really doesn't like Papi, I have to find a new Papi candidate, and let aunt Anna take a step forward.' Nici muttered in the heart.

Shelia and Nici break into Daren's house and follow Anna behind them, "Papi!" Shouted Nici, while running around looking for Daren throughout the room.

"Nic, Papi's in the room!" Answer Daren from within. Nici immediately ran away and approached Daren who seemed to be sitting together while leaning on the head of the bed.

He appears to whisper something into Daren's ear, but is not heard by Shelia and Anna.

'Great Papi, follow my idea, it'll work.' Nici murmured in Daren's earlobe.

'What did Nici say to Daren?' Shelia wondered in her heart.

Daren looked awkwardly smiling, she whispered back in Nici's ear.

'Hehe Nic is indeed a clever Papi Child, your plan must have worked.' Daren blinked one eye.

"Where are you Daren?" Shelia asked slightly suspiciously, making the two men of different ages stop the conversation that only the two of them knew what they were talking about.

"Yes pretty good, I broke my hand and I sprained my leg. For a few days, I couldn't walk and couldn't take care of myself." Daren put on a sad look.

Nici turns to approach Shelia with a sad look to make all who see it powerless to reject this cute child, "Mami, poor Papi he can not stay alone, Mami we accompany Papi ya." Nici said in a pleading tone.

Shelia let out a heavy sigh, considering that Daren had helped her and Nici a lot, Selia was forced to nod in agreement, she turned to Anna who had been silent since.

'Anna I'm sorry, I don't want to take Daren away from you. I just want to return the favor to Daren, I can't let him be in this state alone.

"Yeah!! I'll stay with Papi." Nici ran back and approached Daren, she whispered again.

"But, this is all I can do, next is up to you." Whisper, while pretending to kiss Daren's cheek.
