Sonata No Kioku

Sonata No Kioku
20.3-Promise of the Little Finger

Under the falling petals of the cherry blossoms, my 5-year-old self was stunned, while living a voice reading a poem. While leaning under the old sakura tree, the breeze made my hair dance. So is my book, which the boy is reading now.

I don't know why it feels so calm and I don't worry anymore about being separated from my parents. Because I knew he would always be by my side until my parents came.

..."The pieces of wood have now turned into ashes.....

...Seconds by seconds all scorched into dust.....

...Inside his face full of jokes, that was where the calmness I saw.....

...Steel, yet soft-hearted.....

...The obstacle you passed through, made a clue for me...

...Like a short story, which is read with a glance...

...Like an argument that makes a question mark...

...The stories that are seen in fiction, make everything look real.....

...From me to you, stay like ink and paper, which are always united, even though they hurt each other."...

"Wow, did you make this poem?" Excited the boy who is now opening page after page of my diary.

"Yes... Is this ugly?" I asked with my head slightly tilted.

"No, this is great!! You're terrific. Next time teach me to make a poem as good as this yes, surely my language value will be great" he said with a sweet smile with a row of white teeth.

"When you're a violinist, but you can make poetry this good! Amazing...!"

"Hehe, thanks. I will be glad to teach you"

The boy next to me who was reading, closed the book and looked at me. He smiled with his tiny little finger thrust towards me. He also said,

"Do you want to promise me? Promise me next time we'll see each other again. And at that time, teach me to do poetry?"

For a second I thought while staring at the pinky and took turns looking at her. Slowly my pinky began to be linked, I nodded.

"You! I will definitely see you again, wherever you are I will definitely find you! If I meet you, I'll teach you to do poetry. So you have to promise, too. Don't forget me, will you?"

"Yes! I promise!!"

The promise made by the pair of 5-year-old children was just a meaningless empty speech. A tub of cherry blossom petals blown by the wind and disappeared somewhere in the vastness of the sky..

That promise, I always remember and there's always effort I make. I was willing to be punished for daring to run away several times, only to find you. I was willing to get hurt for refusing my father's man to take me home, just to find your figure.

But, what did you do for me? Have you forgotten that promise? Where are your efforts to find me?

I don't know... I don't know... I'm confused!

Returning to the previous scene, I who no longer knew what to do, was still fixated with blank stares for hours.

"Do you want to refuse?"

He uttered a sentence that I find difficult to dispute. And quickly, he silenced my mouth and announced his engagement date.

"Your engagement will be tomorrow. Practice the correct Sonata song, do not continue to practice paganini song. Remember one thing, never try to find an excuse to have this event cancelled again!"

"I understand, okaa-sama"

The red high-heeled shoes made a sound along with the door that was closed slightly slammed.

I who did not budge like a bird in a cage, could only stare blankly at the tiles of the music room. Unknowingly, tears began to flow from my cheeks...

At the same time, the figure of Shiratori appeared and grabbed me tightly. He stroked my head without saying a word, maybe he understood that now I needed to calm down more than to pour out everything..

"It's quieter, onee-sama?" Ask

"Yes... Thank you Shiratori" I answered while wiping away the tears.

"Call me Tori. Is onee-sama still unable to say that?" Her speech.

"...I'm sorry, but my feelings for you are still too elusive"

Shiratori smiled and left the room. I was finally alone again, with my beloved violin. Or it could be called, the only thing my birth mother left behind.

"Anyways, I have to refuse this engagement!" My inner.

๐ŸŽถ

The night of the day before the engagement, the sky felt dark and empty without a star figure and the moon. It all looked like a gray sea, which was already polluted. Died, forgotten and ignored. Those words are appropriate to describe the atmosphere of the night today.

I felt the strong night wind make my hair and pajamas flutter. Just a second later, I was intending to jump off the balcony but, suddenly, my body was pulled from behind. I also fell into the room.

"What do you think onee-sama?! Why are you up there!? Are you going to die?!!" Shouted Shiratori who was still hugging me.

"Why did you prevent it? Should have just pushed me! Let me meet okaa-san there!!" My speech.

"No! Can't!! Death won't be able to solve anything onee-sama. Onee-sama has promised, right, to stay alive on the path of violinis for the sake of okaa-san?"

"Why stay alive on that perverted path?! I'd rather die than stay on this road!"

I pushed Shiratori's body and got up towards my dresser. I saw myself arranged like a doll and then threw everything on the table.

"You know, since I'm a violinist, okaa-sama betrothed me to a man I don't love! Since I am a violinist, I lost okaa-san. Because I am a violinist.... L'm... Difficulty meeting any meaningful boy in my life!!" My unceasing scream ruffled the contents of the room.

Shiratori stopped me by hugging me again. This time with warmth and anxiety in her. For some reason, my anger went away and we sat down weak.

"Onee-sama... You're a strong man. I know, onee-sama did not want to do what Okaa-sama and Otou-san told her to do. But you still do it even if you hate it. Onee-sama is a kind and friendly person. Don't blame yourself too much.."

"... If not myself, who should I blame? Who can share my complaints about all my problems?"

"You can blame me"

"Did?"

I turned to look at Shiratori's eyes, who was looking at me round and round. He smiled and said.

"Onee-sama can hit me and be angry with me. Do whatever it takes so that all your anger, sadness and resentment are gone."

"... What can? If I was like that, later I would not deserve to be your brother" I said softly.

"You however onee-sama attitude and nature towards me, you are still my brother. I don't care if so, anyway the onee-sama I know is so" he replied.

The moon, which was not visible in the sky that night, now shows itself from behind the clouds. The light began to radiate and make the night atmosphere beautiful as usual.

A smile of shame was etched on my face. For a moment I was calm and able to run all the problems that happened in this family, even though it had to be something I sacrificed.

"Thank you, Tori-kun!" My voice that was smiling at him.

"Can I ask you one thing?" Ask me before closing the curtains.

"What's that?" Ask.

"I want my engagement day tomorrow, you..."

"Well?!"
