21. Between Love and Responsibility

The next morning, Anin returned to her usual attitude. He began to make peace with reality. The fact that she married Defan is only to be Defan's runaway. And Defan's kindness during this time was only the duty of a husband.

That morning, Anin cooked for Defan. After marriage, Defan wants Anin to cook for him. But, if Anin is tired. Defan didn't force it either.

In the room, Defan opened his eyes. But didn't see Anin next to him. He ran to the bathroom, but did not find his wife. Then he searched the kitchen. His lips were scratched when he saw the figure he was looking for was arranging food on the table.

His face was back again. Defan leaned against the kitchen door frame while watching the woman he had married for nearly three months. His days have been more fun since he married Anin.

"Master?" muttered one of the maids who saw Defan.

Anin looked at him immediately. His eyes were rounded as he saw Defan standing in front of the kitchen door. But a moment later, his eyes blinked softly. "Want breakfast now? I'm just making a salad with cow's eye eggs." asked Anin.

Defan walked to the dining table. Then he sat down for breakfast. While Anin prepared her breakfast and also poured tea for Defan.

"Where are you going to go home from college?" tanya Defan while eating breakfast made by his wife.

"Not anywhere. Uh, I want Sandra to buy clothes, she has a blind date tonight" Anin replied.

"You're on a blind date?"

"Pengen anyway, who knows meet a mate." Anin replied casually.

Brakkk's. Defan crashing the table made Anin surprised. He looked at Anin sharply. "What do you think of me?" defan asked in annoyance.

"Husband. But it will be later if the woman you love suddenly returns. You will also return to him, right? My time must be slumped alone." Anin replied casually. He did not see Defan's irritated face at all.

"Who said I'd go back to Ana?" his tanyakan held back his sense of regret.

"You didn't tell me there wasn't a woman like Ana?" sahut Anin's.

Defan frowned. She remembers what she said to Dita, Ana's friend last night. Defan finally knows the reason why Anin suddenly changed.

"Udahlah Def, our marriage is only a covenant. If Ana comes back, you'll be together again. So from now on I have to get ready to find a boyfriend. Uh.." Anin was surprised when Defan suddenly pulled his hand. Defan gripped Anin's hand quite tightly.

"As long as we're still tied to marriage, I won't let you have a boyfriend!" he said glaring.

"But if you're back with an ex, can you? Selfish." Anin smiled cynically.

"There is no. Don't be jealous!"

"I'm not jealous." exclaimed Anin quickly.

"What did I say wrong anyway? No one is like Ana, including you." continued Defan.

"Yes, I'm not Ana. I'm just a barmaid who accidentally met you, and you have to take responsibility. I can't be like Ana, and I don't want to be Ana either. I am who I am, I can never be anyone else" Anin said with a sliced heart. Even tears had piled up in his eyes.

"It's not what I mean." Defan touches Anin's face, but Anin quickly dodges.

"I have to get ready for college" Anin said as she pulled her hand. He immediately ran to the room without looking back.

"Argh.."

Defan followed Anin to the room. He knocked repeatedly on the bathroom door. Unfortunately, there is no word from Anin.

As soon as Anin came out, Defan immediately caught his hand. "Keep me first!" her door.

"Dengerin what else Def? It's all clear. I realized, our marriage is just a covenant. Now, I have no problem, I am also self-conscious." replied Anin with a faint smile.

"You misunderstood." Defan pulled Anin back.

"Why should I misunderstand? What you're talking about is true. I'm just a country girl, poor, I'm not like Ana. Yes, I understand. I'm leaving." Anin left the room after preparing.

"Oh yeah, I'll be home tonight." he added then immediately left for campus.

Defan just stared at Anin's departure in annoyance. "Why is that girl so stubborn?" defan muttered.

He took a shower and prepared to go to the office. His face turned grim again. His attitude also turned cold.

"You must be fighting with Anindya?" Rafa could guess Defan's expression.

"Why else? Have you guys not been okay lately? Even you guys exchanged attention? I thought you were in love." Rafa added.

However, Rafa did not get any answers. Defan just remained silent without answering any of Rafa's questions.

"Def, if Ana were alive. Are you going to go back to him and leave Anindya?" ask Rafa suddenly.

Defan immediately looked. "So news about Ana?" tanyakanya.

"Still an estimate. Someone saw Ana." Defan was immediately shocked.

"Where?"

"In a remote village. It was almost a month ago, but Ana didn't show up again. He was with a man" Rafa said.

"Then, a week ago. I saw the lady going to the hospital with a woman named Bella. I suspect Ana changed her identity." added Rafa.

Defan's eyes instantly rounded. If it's true what Rafa said. Ana should have come to see him. "Find more information. Make sure who the lady named Bella is!" said Defan.

"Are you hoping to get back with Ana? And Anindya?" Rafa asked again. He was curious about Defan's answer.

"I haven't decided yet."

"You said you'd give Ana to Reno?" Defan was silent. He again did not answer Rafa's question.

"Do your duty!" his orders without answering Rafa's questions.

Rafa saw there was confusion on Defan's face. He could also understand what Defan was feeling at the moment. "Ask your little heart! What you have to do! Together with the woman you love or with the woman you are responsible for!" message Rafa before he exits Defan's room.

Defan was silent again. His face looks cold and flat. I don't know what he's thinking. Rafa could not guess at all his thoughts.
