The Civilian: Resurgence
Chapter 5

"We can't stay in this place. Tony, get the explosives ready. We'll make the door ourselves."

"And the rest, keep an eye on things. People started to bring guns back. And I'm sure this place will be taken back by them." Ando said to his team.

"All right! I'll get everything ready." Said Tony.

They hurried to do all the preparations. And Tony used five C4 bombs to blow up one part of the wall. Others are on guard, while preparing weapons and also the supplies they must carry. Because up to this moment, there hasn't been any calls from General Hidi. The reinforcements did not come either. In fact, this place is quite safe if entered by other troops, in large numbers.

Even if they get an attack from civilians, the soldiers can definitely survive the attack. But there was no action from the headquarters. Ando and his troops were already very exhausted, as they were getting small attacks from civilians. Some threw Molotovs, grenades, and also smoke bombs to block their view.

"Hurry Tony! We're under attack! Our view is blocked by the smoke bombs they throw." Ando said to Tony.

Tony's got all those bombs in place. But since there were civilians barging in, he ended up choosing against them.

"Protect Tony! Hurry along!" Ando's orders to his troops.

"Exit!" Said Tony.

"Blow it!"

"Ready!"

Instantly, Tony pressed the trigger button and a huge explosion occurred. Some people who were near the wall were thrown, because of the explosive power. Ando immediately ordered them all to get out of the place. Despite their position on the first floor, but the floor was high enough for them to jump.

One of the members was shot. And the other one broke a bone because he wasn't ready to jump off that floor. Then the man was brutally shot by civilians who had already made it in.

"Create line! We have to protect each other!" Ando's orders.

But apparently, Ando's orders are no longer heard by other members of the army. Only Tony and Ryan still listen to Ando's orders. It was indeed a troop that had just been trained, and had never gained combat experience at all. They all ran away from the battle, and made the situation even more difficult.

With the number of people who should be able to fight, they prefer to run and be shot, rather than having to strike back at civilians. Not because they don't have the heart to attack people, but because they are afraid. In fact, if they fight back, they will all survive.

Unfortunately, they are in a desperate position. The enemy keeps coming. The Wikar team that they thought had left this place, they're still here. They attacked again and threw stun grenades, which made Ando, Ryan, and Tony, as well as other troops captured by the Wikar group.

In a weak and semi-conscious state, Ando saw a large tall man approaching him. He said something, but Ando couldn't hear it, because his ears were buzzing and it hurt so much. He saw another member of the squad being shot on the spot. Ryan and Tony are unconscious.

Ando now can only resigned to his condition. He can't fight anymore. He was arrested and taken to a closed room. Remaining from the army were only nine people. The other six people were still unconscious.

Then the big tall man came and shot one of them. The sound of the shot made everyone shocked and aware of the fainting they had experienced.

"You are a strong army. The trained soldiers. And you guys use incredible weapons. But know that it will mean nothing if you have no guts."

The man held the head of one of the other members. He shot him, until his head was crushed. As if he felt innocent, he shot the other members again, leaving five people. Ando tried hard to untie the bond, but it was too strong for him.

The man sat in a chair, right in front of Ando.

"Fuck up!" Ando said mocking the man.

That person only smiled, as Ando spat at him. He simply washed his face with water, then wiped it with a cloth. He smiled at Ando, and sat back in front of him.

"Anger, resentment, hatred. These are the things God hates the most. You might want to assume that this is all a civil war. But not for us. It's all about justice. Justice for a little person like us. Born in the middle of nowhere. Living in misery and suffering. The pain. Hatreds. Oppressions. And injustice." Said the man.

He resumed his words, smoking a cigarette.

"If you're wondering, why should there be someone like this? Answer's short. Why not?"

"You are at war, thinking of defending a nation and a country. But have you ever thought? That when the change of power occurred, chaos began to be born in this place. Politics is always associated with faith. Until finally, people like us are only considered trash by them. Where was the military then? Where is the promise of soldiers who want to eliminate radical ideas? Big Zero!" Said the man while hitting Ando in the face.

"Now you're hunting us, just because you think that everything we've done is wrong. You are more defending people who think we are lost. Don't you see the truth? That our ancestors have fought and sacrificed for this country for thousands of years. And where's your reply? You guys just threw shit in our faces. You changed the rules and laws that our forefathers had worked so hard to make."

"How is it different from those radicalists? You're the same!" Ando answered all the words of the man.

"You are the one who made us like this!" One of them started talking.

Then the big tall man reconnected.

"seen? Look at! They're all mad. Because what? Because this nation is colonized by the nation's own children! And that's you guys! You colonize with promise!" Reciprocity.

"We're just doing our job as soldiers! And we will not betray the oath!" Ando.

"Ohh.. Really true?! What about your promises to people like us?! Do we not deserve to make that promise?! Huh uh?!" Said the man.

For some reason, everyone was silent. No one has the answer to that question. And so is Ando. He doesn't know what to answer. Because the military has been bound by a code of ethics. They have the main task, which is to protect the leader of the country. But, if the leader of the country alone is no longer concerned and even chaotic. So, what can they do?
