The Destiny of the Undone

The Destiny of the Undone
chapter 11

Junkyu was already lying in Jisoo's room. He closed his eyes while listening to the melodious voice of his Eomma. The lullaby made Junkyu's eyes heavier and eventually fell asleep.

Jisoo slightly recalled the memories in her memories when she was a child. In the past, his mother also sang a lot when he started sleeping. He remembered that if his mother did not sing when he wanted to sleep, Jisoo would cry loudly and look for her.

Junkyu was asleep. Jisoo looked at the plain face of the boy and stroked his hair slowly.

"What a pity on you, son. Why would your mother throw away a child as handsome and as smart as you? Eomma promised to take care of you and take care of you like Eomma's own son. Eomma wants you to grow up to be a smarter, kinder, wiser child." He said with great affection.

Without realizing it, Jisoo also fell asleep with her son. When he woke up, the sky was dark. He was also shocked to see Yunhyeong sitting on her back to the door of Jisoo's room.

"What are you doing here?" Ask Jisoo.

"You're late for dinner. Eommoni left you and Junkyu food."

"God. Ii'm sorry. I slept too fast!"

"What's wrong. I know you're tired. Now eat. Wake Junkyu up too." Yunhyeong's Order.

Jisoo woke Junkyu up very gently. He lashed very slowly onto the child's cheek. Slowly but surely, Junkyu awakens and Jisoo already sits Junkyu in front of the folding dining table.

"Let Appa that bribe Junkyu, huh? Let your Eommamu have dinner." Yunhyeong. Junkyu nodded in agreement.

Little by little the food in the bowl was gone. Junkyu finished his meal with no leftovers.

"Well! It's over. Now drink a lot. If you're still sleepy, go back to sleep, Junkyu. It's night anyway." Yunhyeong said as she cleaned the table and tableware.

"Gee!"

"Why, Son?"

"Tonight I want to sleep with Appa." Junkyu said innocently.

"Of course you can, Junkyu. Appa'll get your bed ready, okay?"

"No Appa, it's not. Junkyu means, Appa slept here with Eomma and Junkyu."

Yunhyeong and Jisoo looked at each other. He did not believe the somewhat frontal narration of Junkyu. He wanted to refuse but Jisoo gestured to be fine. Unwillingly, Yunhyeong nodded in agreement to Junkyu.

Yunhyeong rushed towards the kitchen to put down the empty dishes and glasses then rushed back towards Jisoo's room. Without even expecting it, the place for her was already prepared. It is on the right of Junkyu.

"Appa, Eomma, good night! I love you guys." Junkyu said before continuing his sleep that had paused.

As soon as Junkyu was feeling slumbering, Yunhyeong and Jisoo tried to close their eyes but they were not sleepy.

"You haven't slept?" Ask Yunhyeong.

"Yet. I can't sleep anymore."

"How could he sleep so soundly? Didn't he sleep too?"

"He was only three and almost four years old. His body performance is still very good. We are old. The body's performance is also getting fragile." Reply Jisoo straightforwardly.

"We're not too old to feel freedom, Jisoo. Sometimes there is a need for us to keep thinking about freedom in order for us to better understand what life really means."

"You're right. When my father thought I would marry him, I just kept thinking how I could do whatever I wanted."

"Which prince will he marry you from?"

"From a kingdom in Gyeonggi-do."

As soon as Yunhyeong froze to hear the words from Jisoo.

______

Jisoo's statement regarding the prince's origin to be betrothed to her deeply hit Yunhyeong's mind hard. He did not expect that the kingdom in Jisoo's place should be involved in the game of Gyeonggi Kingdom.

Jisoo said it was a kingdom in Gyeonggi. Perhaps the more precise sentence is a kingdom 'of Gyeonggi. The kingdom is no longer prosperous, there has been filled by greedy people who want to rule this land.

"Do you know the name of the prince you'll be betrothed to?" Yunhyeong asked who was now sitting down.

"Eitherway. I haven't seen him yet. I ran away before I met." Jisoo replied, who was also sitting.

"not anymore. From now on you can't run." Yunhyeong said with an angry tone. Jisoo was confused by Yunhyeong's attitude.

"A-what's up? Is something wrong?"

"You have to go home Jisoo-ya." Yunhyeong's words were full of emphasis, which naturally shocked Jisoo.

"What?! W-what do you mean tell me to go home?? You kicked me out?" Jisoo did not believe Yunhyeong's words.

Because Jisoo's voice was too loud, Junkyu was somewhat distracted from his sleep. He moved uncomfortably but Jisoo swiftly calmed him back down.

Yunhyeong felt she had to explain something to Jisoo. I don't know, he's suddenly very responsible for the safety of Jisoo kingdom. He dragged Jisoo out. It was a bit rude indeed, but it was done so that Jisoo would listen to his explanation.

"Aw sick! Release my hand!" Jisoo.

"If you don't calm down, your hands will hurt." Reply Yunhyeong who still pulled Jisoo's hand and brought her to the field. He had to speak four eyes with Jisoo in order to avoid misunderstanding from the other residents of the parlour.

"Hey! What the hell are you doing? You're really gonna kick me out?!" Jisoo said with a high tone.

"If you want your kingdom safe, then go home." Yunhyeong jerking. "Warn your Raja–Abeojim not to get in touch with the Gyeonggi Kingdom."

"Whatchu mean? Know what you are?" Jisoo really doesn't understand.

Yunhyeong let out a long breath. He was confused as to how to explain to Jisoo.

"Just do what I say."

"You think you're si–"

"THAT KINGDOM IS THE KINGDOM I CAME FROM!" This time Yunhyeong was furious. Jisoo was silent. He did not dare to say a word.

"The King of Gyeonggi Kingdom was King Jisung and his Crown Son was Junmyeon. They're not good people! They plan to destroy your kingdom slowly." Yunhyeong. Jisoo was surprised by Yunhyeong's explanation. He did not expect Yunhyeong to have any connection with the kingdom.

"Actually my family did not withdraw from the kingdom, but those who expelled us. The real throne holder was my mother, Crown Princess Lee Tae Hee– who was supposed to be the Queen Mother. While Jisung is only a child of the king's concubine." Yunhyeong. Jisoo is increasingly surprised to hear the continuation of his story.

"J-so, you and your family are the real rulers?"

"Yes. Uncle Jisung, ah no! I wouldn't even call him uncle. The bastard poisoned my King–kakek, and he accused my father of poisoning him. Jisung and his minions kicked us out because they knew that I was a strong candidate to pass on the Gyeonggi Kingdom. They made it look like we were suspects and threw us out." Jisoo doesn't know how to act. He did not know that the matter was much more complicated than he had imagined.

"With Junmyeon marrying you, that bastard could easily gain access to your kingdom and destroy it slowly."

"Then what should I do? I'm confused and scared." Said Jisoo who was confused by his current condition.

Yunhyeong held onto both of Jisoo's shoulders and looked into her fixed eyes. He could see Jisoo's fear. Not a fear of something but a great concern for the person he cares about.

"Listen, you should go home at least to warn your Abeoji. You can come back here again if you've finished everything. Go home with Jiwon." Pinta Yunhyeong was gentle on Jisoo, who was now covered in tears.

"I will help you by warning the kingdom of Gyeonggi. I won't let them take your kingdom, your home." Further.

Jisoo was still hesitant but she had no choice. Really, he could not imagine what if later everything really happened. It was enough that he lost his mother figure, no longer with his father.

"Replace tomorrow. Let Junkyu stay with the others. There's still Eommoni who can take care of it." Yunhyeong.

"Tonight!" Said Jisoo suddenly as Yunhyeong was about to go see her father. "I'm leaving tonight. The sooner the better."

"But ka–"

"No problem. Jiwon is reliable." Jisoo reassured while rubbing her face.

There was nothing Yunhyeong could do but nod. He knows that Jisoo looks like his mother. Brave and free-spirited.
