An old habit of Kim Jisoo– gazes at the ceiling to the point of boredom while thinking of something random. This time he thought about his father. Honestly, he missed her a little, but he could not continue to allow himself to be restrained by his father. He wants to live like a young man in general. He hoped there was a device that could connect him to his father from a distance. Of course it was impossible for him.
It was past midnight but still Jisoo could not sleep. His mind kept going around in circles about many things. Usually if, unable to sleep, he would go to his father's room and ask him to hug Jisoo's body to sleep. Or when her mother was alive, she would ask her mother to sing something to her so she could fall asleep. This time, who is he asking for help? Ji-won? Jisoo will only get a blow from his cousin.
Brak!
There was a sound that made Jisoo flinch. Is that a thief? Jisoo who was on standby immediately looked for something that could help him as a means of protection. He peeked out of the window of his room and went out to look for the thief. Jisoo had already carried the wood on his shoulders and was preparing to hit anyone who dared to enter this area of the orphanage. He saw a shadow and followed it slowly. Jisoo looked at the shadow, but strangely the shadow was walking leisurely like an ordinary person, not slumping around like a thief. He approached the man and prepared to hit his head from behind, but the man turned his head and shocked Jisoo back. Jisoo was relieved because that person was one of the residents of the orphanage.
"Yes! What are you doing these nights?" Jisoo asked as she held onto her chest as her heart was pounding.
"What are you doing these nights? What's that wood for?" Instead of answering, Yunhyeong asked back.
"I thought you were a thief."
"There are no thieves in this village. Go back to your room. Don't you have to go look for the barnacles tomorrow morning?"
"Aren't you going to be with me tomorrow? You better go back to your room.. Aren't you cold?" Jisoo asked who was now slightly hugging her body.
"It's none of your business." He passed away leaving Jisoo.
"Yes! Song Yunhyeong." Jisoo
"Why again?"
"Where are you going?"
"Why do you want to know that, huh?"
"I can't sleep. Can I come with you?" Jisoo said at last. He didn't know what to do in the middle of the night. He is not the kind of person who likes to be quiet.
"Can't." Yunhyeong.
"Come on.."
"No."
"Please..." Pinta Jisoo while putting on a face.
The real Yunhyeong was a bit upset and finally let the woman follow him.
"Whatever. But don't mess up or report to Eommoni and Abeoji."
"Promise." Jisoo said while pointing her pinky finger which of course was not responded to by Yunhyeong.
"Why don't we just ride a horse?" Said Jisoo who was panting.
"You want to wake up the whole parlor?" Yunhyeong sarcas.
"If you say you're going to a place like this in the first place, I'm going to stay in my room." Jisoo was a little sorry.
"Who forced that? Why blame me now? You shut up or go back to the parlour alone?"
"Haish! It sucks." Said lirih.
"I heard, Kim Jisoo." Reply Yunhyeong. Inevitably, Jisoo had to keep going because there was no way he would go back to the orphanage alone.
Yunhyeong had already reached the top and sat down. Jisoo who just got quiet for a moment and greedily inhaled the air that he had been throwing away since he first climbed the hills.
"What makes you willing to get tired like this? Climb the hill at midnight and there's nothing there." Jisoo Protest.
"Sit down and stay calm. You'll know the answer after you feel it for yourself." Yunhyeong said as she continued to stare at the night sky.
Jisoo sat down according to Yunhyeong's orders and followed what the cold man was doing. He knew the answer when he sat there for a second. The scattered stars bewitched anyone who looked at them. This was the first time he could see the beauty of the night.
"Almost every night I come here just to see them." Yunhyeong said as she pointed at the stars in the night sky. "When I was a child, I couldn't get out of the palace. Wherever I go, there will always be five guards following me. At night, the king forbade us all to leave the palace for safety reasons. Lucky mother rebelled and decided to get out of the palace. I'm sure you feel the same way."
"Hm.. The difference is, the King is my father and I am the main successor of that kingdom. And.. Lucky your parents are both intact. My eommoni is dead, Yunhyeong-a."
"Eommoni and Abeoji are threatened with not being able to marry because of differences in status." Yunhyeong.
"You mean?"
"My father was a commoner, while my mother was the successor of the kingdom. My mother's son was supposed to be the future crown prince, but since she violated royal regulations, that right was revoked and passed to the son of the king's concubine." Yunhyeong was obviously at length.
"I don't know if your life is that bad."
"Luckily we're free from there. I'm also happy to be living with the children. As long as I was in the kingdom, I had no friends at all."
They were enjoying the night in silence and without realizing it, Jisoo was now asleep on Yunhyeong's shoulder. He looked at her for a moment and smiled. He laid Jisoo on his thigh and covered her with his robe because he knew Jisoo was cold.
Jisoo was the first woman to be close to her other than her mother. More precisely the woman who forced him to be close. She had a more male-like nature than a Royal Princess but somehow that graceful aura could not escape from her.
"You look strong, Kim Jisoo. But I know very well you're the one who should be given protection." He said while allowing Jisoo's hair to fall onto her pretty face. "I like you a little bit, but I can't love you yet. At least for now." He said before completely leaning his body on the tree trunk and falling asleep.
