003 - Family Burden

Viona stepped gontai as she entered her yard. He glanced at the watch that had shown almost ten o'clock in the night. His eyes were fixed on the group of people who had just walked out of the door of the house.

Mr. Ronal, Viona's father looks busy shaking hands with the men with his wife. Mr. Ronal's wife named Inaya, also said goodbye to the group.

Viona held her breath, hiding beside the wall that was directly adjacent to the road. Peering from the gaps between his house and the road.

Slowly he slipped in through the side door of the house while guessing who the guests were.

Arriving in the kitchen, he runs into Sany who is carrying a tray of empty cups from the living room.

Sany is Viona's cousin's sister, one year younger. The woman is beautiful and tall towering like a model. Sany has been living in Viona's house since she was five years old. Both of her parents died in an accident, making the woman an orphan girl. Inaya, who is the older sister of Sany's mother, finally took custody of Sany because Sany's mother's relatives were only one.

"Who's coming, Sany?" ask Viona.

Sany commented on the angelic smile, her eyes sparkling and her white skin radiating a soft pink hue.

"The Angga family came to propose to me" he replied in a soft voice.

"Oh, whoa!" Viona.

A feigned expression that he had to let out because he could already predict what would happen next.

"You and Angga are dating?" ask Viona.

Sany shook her head slowly.

"We are only close as co-workers" he replied.

Viona grinned, pitying the Angga who was already close to Sany. Viona knew the outcome of the proposal event. If Sany says just close, it means rejection. I don't know how many men have the same fate as Angga.

"You just got home?"

Suddenly Ms. Inaya appeared in the kitchen.

"Eh, I-Mother," Viona stammered.

"Vio, come here" Mr. Ronal who was behind Ms. Inaya called out.

Viona tailed behind her father towards the living room.

"Vio," said Mr. Ronal.

"L-yes, Dad," Viona replied stammering.

He could already guess what his father would say.

"When are you getting married?"

Viona gulped her saliva with difficulty, the appearance of Mother Inaya who immediately sat beside her husband made Viona focus distracted with her mother's sharp gaze.

When will I get married? Boyfriends don't have any! Viona.

"Vio, you're this. Look, how many times have Mom and Dad turned down proposals from men who want to question Sany?! We were forced to refuse because Sany didn't want to get married before you got married!"

Again his mother brought up the matter. I don't know how many times, so many that Viona can't count it.

"You must not be the one who stands in the way of other people's soul mates, Vi," continued Mr. Ronal.

Wh-what?! I'm blocking people's soul mates?! Viona.

"Dad, I really don't care if Sany marries me first" Viona said.

"No problem to you?! If stepped over, it really is a problem for you! You could be single for life!" sergeant Bu Inaya.

Viona bowed lethargic, again her mother threw this thing for umpteenth hundred or thousand times.

"It's a good thing that Sany is so beautiful that there are still a lot of men who want to marry her!"

Again, Ms. Inaya scratched the wound in Viona's heart.

"Dad, Mother," cut Sany.

Sany held onto Viona's shoulder, giving a strong support so that Viona would not collapse.

"If Vio doesn't want to get married, we can't force him. Vio must have his own reasons why he did not want to get married" said Sany.

Viona harrumphed, saying that it was more appropriate for yourself, her inner self.

"Mom and Dad don't have to worry about me. It doesn't matter that we reject a lot of proposals from those men. The soul mate is not going anywhere" continued Sany.

Viona felt her stomach nauseous hearing the nonsense spoken by Sany.

"Vio, why don't you get married? Get married and stop being a burden to parents!" mr. Ronal.

The scathing words from Mr. Ronal made Viona feel claustrophobic.

"Dad, Mother, I want to rest" Viona said goodbye.

"Vio, our conversation is not over yet!" cut Bu Inaya.

Viona ignored her mother's words, she strode over to her room beside the kitchen. 

Viona's bedroom used to function as a warehouse. But switched functions as a room after Viona decided to stop sharing rooms with Sany when she started attending High School.

Viona needs privacy and she doesn't want Sany to accuse her of using her belongings without permission.

"The one who didn't want to get married is Sany! He did not want to lose the fans who adored him and gave him expensive gifts!" Viona sneered in annoyance as soon as she entered her room.

Anger, anger, and disappointment rippled within Viona. 

Viona is angry at her parents who consider her just a burden. And he was angry because Sany was being pretentious but cornered him. Make Viona as an excuse not to get married first.

Viona even closed her social media account because she no longer wanted to receive terror from Sany fans. 

They vented anger, reviled, with all swearing because their proposal was rejected by Sany.

Even one of them had asked Viona to be responsible, asking for a replacement for the amount of money that had been spent to buy Sany expensive gifts.

Viona threw herself on the bed. His eyes looked at the ceiling of the room filled with traces of water seepage, forming a map of the tanned islands. Paint on the walls of the room has even been a lot of peeling.

Viona did not have much money to renovate the room. His income every month as an administrative staff at one of the course institutions did not even reach UMR.

Well, understandably, Viona only has a High School degree. He did not get a lecture because it was constrained to the value of his diploma that was destroyed. As a result, he was unable to get a scholarship.

Her father and mother are already disappointed in Viona, they prefer to finance Sany college which they consider smarter than Viona.

Viona's life has changed since Sany's presence. Sany gets more affection and attention from her father and mother. It makes Viona feel like she is being raised by her own biological parents.

It is sad to remember what has passed. But even more sad when you have to experience rejection from his girlfriend.

Alan, the idol he had loved for 365 days refused to be his lover.

Pupus had been Viona's hope to get a lover who would accompany her in order to attend the wedding reception invitation of the mortal enemy in the school age.

Though Viona was already wondering, came to the event to show off her amazingly handsome lover. But apparently his pride is enough to be a hallucination.

Viona looked back at the ring on her middle finger.

"Grandmother, until when should I wait for my soul mate to come? I am 32 years old and have been forced to marry! Did grandma just give me false hope?"

How long do I have to wait?
