The Eternal Fragments of Moonlight

The Eternal Fragments of Moonlight
Prologues

Super Blue Blood Moon, that term is still very fixed in my memory. It felt like just yesterday I was watching a large moon in blood red. But after I counted, I spent almost four years after it happened.

On January 31, I was with my four friends gathered on the roof of the house. Witnessing a rare lunar eclipse phenomenon that according to the media has only happened again since its presence 38 years ago. It is also in the eastern hemisphere. In Indonesia, the lunar eclipse was last seen 157 years ago.

“Hey view! The moon is already starting to eclipse!” Said one of my most beautiful friends.

“Wah yes, very good.” Another friend responded.

“In my opinion, we are very lucky to be able to witness this lunar eclipse live. Even our great-grandmother did not have the opportunity to see this.” Said one more friend of mine whose ram was in two.

We spend a lot of time together both inside and outside of school. I remember, it was the beginning of our odd semester as a student of Twelfth Grade High School. It doesn't feel like we're only one year away we're going to spend our childhood and head into a world of maturity that seems like it's going to be very boring. Because when we become adults, we will always be preoccupied with the work and interests of each. There will be no more togetherness, silliness, and games that can make all laugh.

“Eh, how do you do mojok here? Not join another?” My tall, stylish friend with slightly Mohawk hair scolds me sitting on the lip of the roof door. He just came from the convenience store. Carrying a variety of snacks and drinks.

“No, I prefer it here.”

Yeah, instead of watching the lunar eclipse, I'd rather look at him. The most beautiful person I love more than anything. Even more than myself.

“Hey, you two! Cepet here, soon the moon is perfect red.” His high and soft voice spoke to me which when I heard it, my chest always felt tight.

I got up to join the three girls sitting on a mat in the middle of the roof. The five of us then together witnessed a rare natural phenomenon that was being presented before us.

“You know not? He said the lunar eclipse on Wiwitan Day will also be a unique lunar eclipse like today.” Said the Most Beautiful.

“Hmm, yes like this year will be a very special year.” Sahut Si Kuncir Dua's.

For most beliefs in various ancient civilizations, such as Greece and ancient Egypt, lunar eclipses are always identified with a bad omen as well as a catastrophe. Because according to most ancient beliefs, if a lunar eclipse occurs, then the power of the devil is enveloping the moon which is nothing but a symbol of the majesty of the gods. However, it is different from the belief here, on Lembari Island. Here the eclipse of the moon is considered a form of power of the creator where at that time the creation of space and time began.

Lembari Island itself is a small island located to the south of Java Island. With a fairly dense and diverse population from various parts of Indonesia. Making Lembari Island as the most populated island in the archipelago.

“Woi look, the moon is really so red! Similar blood!” Said Si Jangkung.

“Really!” My speech. “Oh I finally understand now why when menstruating girls are called by coming months.”

Rebut my three female friends were leaning towards me with their own eyes. One looked at me with disdain while the other looked coldly at me. As for him, looking at me while holding back his laughter.

“Hihi, you..” Saying.

“Probable.” Cut off my other girlfriends.

“Start again by this moron.” The Pigtail Two responded. He said it while chewing on his favorite mochi cake. “You know when you're gonna be a moron, huh? We are now in class 3!”

I answered by raising my shoulders and putting on an innocent look. How else, I was always like that. Saying whatever comes to my mind just like that.

At the same time I heard the roof of my house open. It turned out that there was my little sister who seemed to have just woken up from her sleep. With a staggering path while rubbing his eyes he walked over to us, then without speaking he sat on the lap of the Pigtail Two.

“Eh, Ami?”

My sister also smiled at him, then leaned his back as if making Si Kuncir Dua as a comfortable seat. Hmm, it looks like it would be very comfortable if you lean there. Seen from Ami's head that is slowly inserted when propped up.

“Monthly...” Say my sister. “Surve.”

For a moment we were silent after listening to my sister's words. Before finally me and Si Jangkung start the conversation again with our various silly jokes.

Honestly, actually the first thing that came to my mind when I saw the Blood Blue Super Moon that night, was the same feeling that my sister had said. The moon looked strange and mysterious to me. Gave an awkward impression in me that I myself did not know why. Yeah, I didn't know why at the time.
