The Eternal Fragments of Moonlight

The Eternal Fragments of Moonlight
Chapter 25: Death Parade (Part III)

The end of my second journey.

Although I have known for certain that “” destiny provisions for Mira will come exactly at 22.13 pm, he said, I still can't be completely sure that on this occasion I will be able to save him. But I have no other choice. I can't just give up on the hands of fate that are about to take Mira away from me.

On the other hand, Laras seems to no longer care what I will do. Two days before Hari Wiwitan arrived, we had a big fight to the point that I made him go berserk and threw me out of his house. Before slamming the door that time, he said.

“Do as you please, Aji! I don't care! In the end, you will also look for me to repeat the time!”

Laras tried to regulate his hunting breath before continuing. “Gue just wants you not to be around him when he faces death! Is that too hard?”

Then he slammed the door hard, making all the windows of his house vibrate.

And sure enough, in the end I couldn't do much when the time came.

When there was only 5 minutes left, I had managed to take Mira to one corner of the temple courtyard which I think is safe enough for us to make a shelter because it is surrounded by stone fort on each side.

Just like what I did in the previous timeline, I protected Mira by covering for her. Leaning it on a stone fortress I thought was sturdy enough to protect us from a violent collision.

But fate can always find its way. Moments after I had Mira's body there, she suddenly suffocated and muttered.

“Alan.”

Not far from where I and Mira took refuge, I saw Alan who was furious and disgusted looking at us with his judgmental gaze. Without saying a word, he passed.

At once Mira also became panicked and revolted to escape from my arms.

"Aji, peeling! Lepasin! Hicks..." He also sniffled. "Dadji! If you keep this up, I'll scream!"

Hearing that, I immediately closed his mouth. Then pressed my entire body weight firmly onto his body.

"Sorry, Mira..."

"Mmh! Mm!"

It feels painful, it hurts so much. Seeing someone you love so much get hurt and suffer like that because of your own actions.

Mira finally gave up. There was no more resistance I felt from him. All he did was cry with the look in his eyes as if begging me to stop.

I immediately turned, not looking into his eyes. Then not until ten seconds later, I felt a big palm grabbing my neck from behind and a moment later I found my body lying on the ground, smelling the grass that was there.

“Shoppers lo.”

I found Bentot locking my body from behind as I looked up. He crossed my arms behind my back so I couldn't do much. Around Bentot I also found some faces that I knew. Dian and Ronny. They all looked at me with judgmental gazes just like I got from Alan's previous sight.

“Ben, take me ben! It's not like the elo..”.

My voice was stifled as my eyes unintentionally glanced towards Mira. There I found him crying and staring at me with a smile. It was only a few seconds before Mira immediately ran away from the place. I don't know, maybe he's going after Alan.

"Woi dog! Let go of me son of a bitch!"

I continued to squirm with all my might and made all the effort I could to escape. I have finished the Bentot and I have thrown all the dirty words that are in my mind, but still Bentot does not budge. His strength folds stronger than my strength.

Ah, is this what Mira felt when she was helpless when I got her? Damn, she must be as sad and frightened as I am feeling right now.

Amid the growing frustration, I heard the sound of fireworks with the boisterous sound of many cheering people. Finally there I gave up, all I could do was scream and cry roaring on the ground. Surrounded by the astonished looks of the people around me.

In just a few seconds after, I felt the earth tremble with a rumbling sound that felt so close.

Instantly also the cheers turned into hysterical cries that made the heart slashed upon hearing it. The people around me were running around leaving me to see what was really going on. I just lie there and cover my face with my hands. Continuing crying.

I don't have to go there to know what's really going on. Because even though my position was lying like that, I should still be able to see a large billboard towering into the sky not far from where I was.

I don't know what makes him invisible now. But one thing I do know for sure, this time he was the cause of Mira's death.

After I was satisfied to mourn what happened, I finally got up and started walking. Not to a location where there should be a billboard. But to the south entrance of the main temple where Laras had been waiting for me there.
