The Eternal Fragments of Moonlight

The Eternal Fragments of Moonlight
Chapter 7: Heavy Rain

Cloudy weather conditions since noon, now has given signs it will soon rain. Drops by drops of water began to fall to the ground and in an instant the rain fell. Then profusely.

Alan and Mira who were still in the Teduh Ramp immediately cleaned up their luggage and ran around looking for a place to shelter. Like instinct, they ran towards a gazebo in the corner of the park that seemed quite comfortable as a shelter.

“Aduh so wet deh.” Said Mira

“Wah, if the rain is heavy like this, it looks like it will be old.”  Alan looked up at the sky.

Alan wagged his sweater that was hit by rain. Then, when he looked at Mira, the discovery of a white dress Mira wet from the rain made it limp and transparent. Shows some of the curves and angles on his body. Seeing that, Alan's face was blushing then he quickly turned away.

That afternoon the Rise of the Shadeh was very quiet. There were only one or two cars passing under the cliff. Unlike Bunderan Lima which is located in the middle of a large road that has various shops and shops on the outskirts of the road, which is, the park that there is Tamanan Teduh is just a small flower garden on a cliff that is rarely visited by people because of its location away from the settlement. So even though it is a weekend like this, rarely anyone comes there.

For a long time they just stayed there looking at the rain. Until finally Alan approached Mira and without speaking he covered Mira's back with his sweater. Maybe he was waiting for his sweater to dry up before finally deciding to do this.

“Let's not cool.” Said Alan.

Mira looked up and was stunned for a few seconds. Then he smiled.

“Makasih... Lah, but what are you? Later cold.” Mira.

“Nothing Mir, my shirt is not wet kok.”

Alan sat next to Mira while tidying their luggage in the corner of the Gazebo and then he checked his phone.

“Eh Lan, you want to? When we were in tenth grade, we were trapped by rain several times after school. Ah, but I guess you won't want to..”.

“I inget kok.” Alan was smiling. “Three times if not mistaken.”

“Oh.”

Mira is seen clutching a sweater that covers her purse.

“Yes but, because we used to not know each other, so we did not care for each other.”

“Iya, hihi.” Mira laughed amusedly. “Eh, but never once. When you put your umbrella on me. Yes even though it can not be counted as hell, your people do not say anything.”

“What are you talking about, Mir?”

“Not really, just doang rings, hihi. Maybe at that time I left you alone here. So yes I had to refuse. At first I thought you would leave me after that, but you even follow the rain stop here.”

“Haha, even bothering ya become?”

“Eh, not that, I even mingle how did you meet that time.” Mira blushed then buried her face deeper and deeper.

“Also times before that and after that. It feels..comfortable if there is you.” Further.

Hearing what Mira said, made Alan stop his finger who was playing the phone. He was silent and Mira was, just silent. They like entering into their own world accompanied by silence that seems to be a good friend to them. Not bothered by anything around. The sound of rain, the wind blowing, the cold air, nothing can interfere.

“Emm Alan, can I pinch her HP?”

Alan did not reply and simply handed over his phone.

“Photo yes.”

Mira approached herself while pointing the phone in front of them. Although there was a look of tension on his face, Alan was finally able to control himself. Then they took pictures together. Mira's face looks very sweet on the frame. Alan, as usual.

“Good. Send to me yes her photo.”

“Ya.” Answer Alan.

“Mira, actually since then, since the moment we waited for the rain here, I..”.

Restrained.

“I..”

Alan's stunned. Can't continue what he's about to say. His mouth was open but no words were spoken. Maybe you think that he is feeling doubtful or afraid of the end result that may not be in accordance with his expectations. But what makes Alan stunned is not that. Because of his handover, Alan is now ready with all the consequences he will receive.

What stops it is not the tightness in the chest as usual. But more to the feeling of surprise, wonder, even horror.

Because at that time, in front of him stood a girl who was using a large black umbrella. Under the heavy rain. Looking hard at him. Chilly.

“Laras?” Alan spoke without turning his mouth back.

Without speaking Laras offered two black umbrellas that were no less large than the umbrella he was wearing. Both umbrellas are still folded neatly, unused.

“You can go home now.” Briefly talk.

“Laras by, you..”.

Crash it!

The sound of lightning striking makes Mira strangled and holds Alan's shoulder. Baras just remained silent and did not react when he witnessed that. Alan was still speechless. Let alone to reach the umbrella proffered Baras, just blink he did not.

The barrel always looks strange and mysterious, but this time, it's completely out of the ordinary. If I were Alan, there would be questions in my head like. Why is Laras here? Did he follow me earlier? But why would he carry three umbrellas? Did he know it was going to rain today? Did he even know that today I was going to meet Mira? But... why?

“Why.... can you be here.. Ras?” Alan could finally speak.

“Gue accidentally saw you ride here this afternoon.” Quietly said. “And because I know today will rain, I bring this umbrella for you.”

Of course Laras explanation even makes Alan become more confused and horrified. Seen from his hand that was still held back to reach the two umbrellas that were thrust towards him. The barrel finally placed the two umbrellas next to Alan then spoke softly.

“You'd better cepetan go home, soon dark.”

After that Laras did not go immediately, but just stayed there as if waiting for Alan and Mira to leave first. Pause for a moment, Mira finally spoke to him, breaking the stillness that was floating.

“Anu, Laras, why don't you come with us here? We wait for the rain to subside.” His word. “Your clothes.. wet all.”

It is true, the clothes used Baras look moist and wet in some parts. Although the umbrella he used was large, it still could not protect him entirely from the heavy wind rain at that time.

Barrels just bowed. Not to return Mira's words to him. The expression on his face was not visible because of the rain and because the day was already dark.

Garden lights that are around one by one start to light up by themselves. The barrel was still there not budging.

“Free.” The voice was very slow, barely audible. “In the end you will still be like this right? Fascinating, finally made up? No matter how hard I try, as much as I try, the results will remain the same.”

Alan and Mira could only remain silent, not understanding what Laras was really talking about. And indeed his voice was not very clear because it was muffled by the sound of rain.

“Why... Why always in vain!” Baras was screaming.

Now Alan can see the look on the face of Laras who had been bowed. His face was now raised looking sharply at him. She cried.

“La, Laras..” Mira tries to approach Laras who is still standing outside the gazebo. His response tried to reach the girl, trying to calm her down.

But Laras brushed it off so strongly that Mira's hand fell. There was a deep sadness on his face as they met a look.

Mira pulled back her hand and clenched it in front of her chest. His eyes began to glaze over and he seemed to be crying soon. The barrel walked away from the two of them tracing the increasingly violent rain. Then lost.
