...💞 Happy reading 💞...
The skyline seemed dark today, as dark as Sari's eyes when telling her what exactly was fifteen years ago. He no longer cares about the threat of Mr. Pangestu who has been pressing him to silence his mouth. Sari also felt helpless and today enough have the Mavendra family closed all their carcasses.
"Fifteen years ago, Mr. Pangestu and buk Parwita came to this orphanage Aslan," said Sari opened the long story.
Flashback on*
Sari was very happy with the presence of Aslan as well as Chiara in the orphanage she managed, the children she previously cared for also welcomed the arrival of Aslan and Chiara became part of their large family.
"Kids, always compact and help each other yes, mother does not want between you there is a storm. Remember, you're all mothers here, there's nothing different, right, okay?"
The children that Sari adopted and loved like her own blood, nodded in unison. "Good mother!" their exclamation in unison and compact made Sari curl her lips feeling proud and moved.
At first everything went smoothly in accordance with Sari's expectations all along, but suddenly Badau came to their quiet life when that day a luxury car came to their orphanage. Sari thought it was the car of an angel donor inside the human body of God's messenger to help her ease the living expenses of the orphanage's children, but it turns out that Sari was wrong not the angel-hearted donor she hoped for but the angel of death that became a frightening specter for her.
Plakk! Sari fell to the ground after getting a slap so hard on her jaw that it was done by a mature old man who stood haughty in front of her at this moment.
"How dare you hide enough in a slum like this?!" Pangestu mavendra stared intently with his wife Parwita mavendra who was currently staring hatefully at Sari, a grin appeared on the graceful face when he saw Sari who was in pain due to the loud slap from her husband.
"Now tell me where is my grandson, Aslan?!" Pangestu rebuked the beaver, pressuring the frail woman into telling the truth.
"Are you just going to look for Aslan, Mr Pangestu?" Sari stared hard, she who was afraid now has great courage to protect her best friend's children who she considers like her nephew.
Sari does not not not know how to suffer Rasti-her best friend during being the daughter-in-law of the Mavendra family, a well-respected family that turns out to have a patriarchal understanding that is so creepy. It can be seen by Sari herself how her best friend was restrained in her husband's family who always demanded her to be a obedient wife and silent even though her husband had cheated on her by another woman.
Nah! never will Sari let Aslan and Chiara fall in the hands of the wrong person let alone Mr. Pangestu who has become an open secret how hard the man's attitude and selfish he is, he said, also Parwita who is eleven twelve with her husband.
Pangestu sighed at Sari's statement. "For what is the other child if he is useless. All I need is Aslan, my first granddaughter, the boy who will be my successor," the man said arrogantly.
"Why? didn't your family doubt that Aslan was Baskoro's biological son, so incited him to hate Rasti and accuse her of nothing."
Now it was Parwita's turn to speak up. "At first we were doubtful that Aslan was not Baskoro's flesh blood but after we had DNA tests, we were one hundred percent sure that Aslan was Baskoro's successor to our family."
Sari screeching. "New to that you believe? where were you when Rasti had to bear your charges until she finally had to part with her husband?"
"Rubborn, reset!" Pangestu threw out a deliberately disparaging saliva. "We don't even care and are happy that the woman is dead! because he is a siaaal carrier for Baskoro and the Mavendra family!" he said grumbling even Pangestu did not want to call Rasti with the name of the woman.
"Your Biaddab!" Rasti snapped in anger, not caring if the two people in front of him were older than him, Rasti angrily pushed the two to the door.
"You better just go, remember this until whenever I never give Aslan or Chiara into the hands of you two!" he said, giving his index finger to Pangestu and Parwita.
But the only thing that Sari got was the sneer of the vile implied on Pangestu's face. "Boddoh. Don't you know who you're looking for trouble with? my Pangestu mavendra can make your life ruined with just one snap of a finger."
Suddenly Sari's hunch became unpleasant. And sure enough the look on his face that had originally shown courage quickly turned frantic as the throngs of men in black uniforms and dark glasses came dashing into his orphanage.
They all formed a circle there were also those who stood with firearms that unsheathed towards him making Sari limp instantly. Now every corner of the room is filled with mysterious men with weapons in each of their hands, Sari could not count for sure but she could see that they were so many.
His orphanage has been surrounded!
"What are you trying to do, Mr Pangestu mavendra?!" sari shouted, emotion, worry was now one in her mind.
While Pangestu can still be calm. "They're all my men" he told me. "They have been trained hard to obey my orders and will not hesitate to anyone including." Pangestu smirked making Sari feel something was wrong.
"Mother please! help us?!"
Sari turned her head, her face changed pias when she saw all her foster children were being led towards her in the guard by the number of mysterious men who were now pointing guns at them.
"Fuckhead!" as Sari said, he looked at Pangestu with anger many times over. "Take them off, Mr. Pangestu! they were still plain children, what were they trying to do?!'
"I just want to give you an understanding, if you don't think I'm going to do this," said Pangestu then sat on the green sofa in the living room that is not too wide.
"Look at that, my men will not hesitate to eliminate one of them," said Pangestu as if never messing with all his words and actions.
Sari tried to rebel as hard as she could but her usual strength was even very small compared to the big-bodied men that made it feel useless.
Pangestu smiled slanted while lifting one leg up the other while the level he always carried in his place next to the chair, now the man looks like a master of the shock.
"I warn you once more, I'll give you one chance. Starting tomorrow morning, take Chiara away from Aslan's life, and until noon when I come back to pick up Aslan but the girl is still beside him then you will receive the consequences," said Pangestu as if not messing with the threat. "It's not just you, but this orphanage and the children in it will have consequences if you don't obey these orders."
Sari's eyes glared sharply, she clenched her hands furiously, but there was nothing she could do, she was helplessly powerless to resist Pangestu's notoriously cold-blooded threat.
The next day, Sari wept bitterly at the sedan thinking about the fate of Aslan and Chiara, of course he would not be willing to Aslan or Chiara separated from each other, of course, he wanted to do anything as long as the two poor children without sin did not have to bear the cruelty of the grandfather who wanted to separate them. But until this moment the situation outside is very unsafe,he knew that even though Pangestu secretly sent his men to keep watch around the orphanage, he could not make it at all or try to escape from here while there were dozens of children's lives now being threatened by her security, Sari felt very frustrated and helpless.
Sari accidentally sees Aslan and Chiara outside the window, the boy is leading his sister to play in a park that is specifically for children to play.
At first glance, his brain had a plan. He just remembered a few weeks ago a couple came here to adopt a child from this home.
Sari had no other choice, she did not want Chiara or Aslan to get hurt even though they had to separate them at least the two would be safe even if they had to be far apart.
Sari sees Chiara herself in the park, the innocent daughter says she is waiting for her brother while playing. Sari was filled with a shaky plan but finally he had no other choice and took Chiara away from there to let the distraught Aslan look for Chiara who suddenly disappeared.
While Sari finally entrust Chiara to a married couple who want to adopt a child from her orphanage.
"Please take care of him, he's a love for this boy and protect him," pinta Sari on the couple while rubbing Chiara's cheeks with tears flowing down while Chiara just stared innocently in confusion.
"definitely. From now on this child is our son."
Flashback off*
The cloud that was originally gray has now begun to drop rain drops are increasingly heavy. Sari stared out the window along with the specks of rain that began to fall as well as her tears that were now getting heavier. The feeling of tightness as if forcing her to recall the dark times.
Aslan looked in a daze as if in disbelief. "So all this is grandpa's work? he's behind my breakup with Chiara, my sister?"
Sari turned to look at Aslan with a guilty feeling. "It's painful but that's the truth. Your grandparents aren't as good as you think, they just want to take you and not care about Chiara at all. They think Chiara is the reason Baskoro died because during the Baskoro accident with his new wife Chiara was invited and only Chiara survived the terrible accident."
There were too many surprises until Aslan could not digest all this well, he never thought it was his loved ones who turned out to be the cause behind all this.
"Now where is Chiara, mother? tell me where her foster parents are and how is my sister?" Aslan asked the question, hoping he could find his sister soon.
But Sari could only shake her head. "Pardon mother son, after Chiara was left by her adoptive parents, they still send news but a few months after that there was no news about them, the mother gets the news that their family has moved out of town, bringing Chiara along."
Aslan's knees felt limp after hearing her, his face pias felt hopeless after that.
"I'm sorry mommy son, forgive my carelessness for taking that action but you were completely helpless back then, son, that was the only way you could stay alive."
Aslan shook his head weakly, he felt very bad after all his struggles all this time turned out to be all in vain, the possibility to meet Chiara was getting smaller and not even exist at all, he doesn't know if his sister is alive or not.
"But the mother still keeps this," exclaimed Sari, took a wooden box and opened it, and took something inside. A handkerchief, Aslan frowned.
"Before you part, your mother has prepared a pair of handkerchiefs for you, hoping that if destiny says otherwise, you can meet again through this handkerchief." Sari smiled bitterly recalling that painful memory.
"This handkerchief mother made a pair of one for you and one for Chiara, mother knit her own with full of guilt at that time hoping you can forgive mother if you can meet again."
Aslan listened to Sari's explanation but his brain is now guessing because he felt he had seen a handkerchief like this, exactly the same. But where is it?
"Mother made Chiara handkerchiefs with pictures of orchids while you with pictures of hibiscus. Before Chiara left the mother had left a handkerchief to her adoptive parents hoping that Chiara always kept it but to you the mother could never give it because the man who sent Pangestu who always watched the movements mother even now you're in her hands."
Then Sari gave the handkerchief to the owner whom she had always hidden. "Now you give this handkerchief to you. Maybe you're too late but you believe the miracle of God exists."
Sari's last words made Aslan raise his face, looking at the woman.
Aslan clasped tightly onto the flower-patterned handkerchief that was now in his hand. Can he find Chiara with this handkerchief clue?
