THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME

THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME
Selecting a Vehicle II

"So, Zachary," Camilla interrupted. "Should I go ahead and start the procedures and related documents to transfer the gray R8 GT into your name?" He asked, holding Zachary's gaze.

"If the machine is in perfect condition, please go ahead and start the paperwork," replied Zachary, going into poker face mode.

She did not want Camilla to realize that she was behaving awkwardly before her. He was sure that if he could ignore it until he left the dealer and returned to his place, he would forget about it in a week or two.

She doesn't like being around a girl who is too controlling of her emotions. He had a bad experience during his previous life. Anita, the fiancee of her past incarnations, has such an influence on her. But when he left, he was emotionally torn to shreds.

Zachary doesn't want a similar incident to happen in his new life. Not when he started making something of himself with his football career. So, the coping mechanism is to "escape and forget" to spare himself from the pain again. He wanted to complete the vehicle procedures quickly so that he could escape from the dealer, or rather, Camilla.

"Don't you want to take the car for a test drive to better understand it?" Camilla asked, smiling at Zachary.

"No," Zachary replied quickly because getting out of the dealership—away from the alluring Camilla takes precedence over everything else. "Since you both have assured me that the machine is perfect, I will keep your word. After all, why should I be picky when I get a car for free?"

"But, I have to warn you about something before you confirm your decision," Camilla said, approaching Zachary and lowering her voice. “Some R8 GT test drivers complain about the automatic transmission system. They claim there is always a lag, as if a computer was cutting the vehicle's power while moving gear. I'm kind of worried you won't get it. To enjoy this vehicle because of its transmission system because some customers initially complained about it."

"In the truest sense, it doesn't matter" Ryan cut before Zachary could answer. “I myself once drove a friend's R8 GT, and I felt firsthand what you just mentioned. As you drive the R8 GT, you get some terrible changes. You feel like there's a turbo lag— as if the computer is cutting power and the engine is pulling you back because of the R-Tronic automatic single-clutch system."

"But all you have to do is put the car in sports mode to eliminate that little problem" Ryan continued. "That will make a big difference, and you will no longer feel slowness. As long as you don't want to go racing, the car will meet all your needs, Zachary."

"You sound more like a car salesman than I do, Ryan," Camilla said in a joking tone. "I did not expect that the transmission problem could be solved easily, in such a way. And you have quite a lot of knowledge about the R8 GT." He added that his words were colored by his exotic accent.

Ryan smiled embarrassedly at it. "It's just that I'm helping a friend who's facing a similar problem to the one you mentioned" he said. "That's why I know a few things about the R8 GT."

"Well, yes," Zachary agreed, nodding. "Since Ryan has recommended it to me with such confidence, then there is no need for any more consideration. I'll take the machine. But my only concern was whether my long legs would fit in such a small vehicle."

"You don't have to worry about that," Ryan interrupted once again. "I'm sure even tall basketballers like Shawn Bradley and Yao Ming can drive a car without facing any problems. But to calm the heart, you can sit in the driver's seat and feel for yourself the comfort of the car."

"Okay, then," said Zachary, stepping towards the gray R8 GT. "Camilla, am I allowed to enter the vehicle even though I didn't pick it up?" He asked when he was next to the car door.

"Of course, there's no problem" Camilla replied, also stepping closer to the vehicle. "As I've promised, I can even take you down the road for a test drive. That's if you want to better understand the car."

"That's not necessary," Zachary replied, shaking his head. "I just wanted to check if there was enough leg room for someone like me up front. I'm not worried about anything else. I'm pretty sure Audi won't put anything wrong in its showroom." He added before opening the door and entering the front seat.

As Ryan said, Zachary found the inside of the R8 GT to be surprisingly roomy as there were only two seats in the entire vehicle. He found no fault with the available space on the front and was even able to stretch his legs as he adjusted the driver's seat slightly backward. But that's not what got him excited about the R8 GT. The interior design is almost entirely black but very luxurious, with a low head covering and easy-to-find controls. Everything blends seamlessly with the subtle ingredients of the car to give a sporty and smooth finish to the German engine.

Zachary loves everything about the interior of a car. He pushed the door open and got off the vehicle with a smile on his face. He could hardly believe he would get such a sleek vehicle at almost no cost. It improves his mood.

"So, what are you saying?" Camilla investigated, stepping closer to Zachary. "Do you like the R8 GT? Are you going to take it? Or should we look at the others? Don't feel pressured to make a choice. The decision is in your hands."

"I love everything about this machine" Zachary quickly responded. "I'll take it. No need to look at the others."

"Then it's good," said Camilla, her face beaming with a charming smile that pierced Zachary's heart like a nail piercing through a piece of wood. "I'll start the procedure and the paperwork soon. You don't have to wait long." He said before walking out of the side showroom.
