Lu Xiang will not have a concubine
A few days passed but Mak Li did not get any answer from Adelia to make him anxious, at the insistence of the family who paid him to be a Matchmaker, Mak Li finally visited Lu Xiang's house back.
He found out Xie Hsien's activities and left when almost lunch, he could not wait and relied on Adelia in answering the comblangan he proposed.
The news that some families were paying Mak Li to be a matchmaker between them and Lu Xiang spread in Cheng city quickly, especially after the good quality poem incident that Lu Xiang wrote about. Any news about the young Xie Hsien was so attracted by the gossip lovers.
Mak Li felt awkward looking at Lu Xiang who was just focusing on giving a snack to Adelia and ignoring her, they had already been sitting in the living room for a few minutes yet Lu Xiang did not ask him anything at all, he took a deep breath and said carefully. "It's nice to meet you Xie Hsien, I heard a lot about you. You are the only man who has great talent to graduate with an Xie degree even though you are very young".
Lu Xiang smiled slightly and just nodded in response to Mak Li's sky-high praise made the old woman feel even more awkward.
"I'm Mak Li, maybe you've heard my name before. A few days ago I came to the house and already said the purpose of my arrival but Madam Lu said that the decision is in your hands so I came here to hear your answer".
Lu Xiang's smile was slightly muffled, he stared flatly at Mak Li who dared to give Adelia a bad impression on him. "So now you want my answer Mak Li?"
Mak Li smiled in relief, he nodded enthusiastically. Today he will get many bonuses from selected families.
"My answer is that I have no intention of having a concubine". He was relieved because the family who applied to become a business only came from among business people because it would be difficult to refuse the application of a bachelor family without causing problems.
Mak Li's smile froze. "What's?".
"I have no intention of taking any concubines Mak Li. This answer must satisfy you, right? If you're done talking, we won't make sitting linger anymore" The words of expulsion rang out clearly from Lu Xiang's mouth.
Adelia just watched the conversation while eating potato chips, ah if there is popcorn would be more perfect.
"W-don't you think about it anymore, Mr. Xie Hsien? I-I can negotiate with the candidate's family to raise their dowry".
Lu Xiang still smiled elegantly. He called Lu Tao to lead Mak Li out of the house.
Mak Li stood in front of the gate of Lu Xiang's house with a still stunned feeling, his obvious repulsion without any negotiation left him stunned until he could not think anything.
Conscious of his shock, Mak Li swore a sombre oath by slowly venting out emotions due to Lu Xiang's refusal. He is a famous matchmaker and has managed to compete many couples from various families but only lost before issuing all of his mainstay moves, namely playing words reliably! It made his pride hurt because he felt underestimated. He also spread that Lu Xiang had no intention of taking the concubine.
The news spread quickly, Lu Xiang's statement that had no intention of taking the concubine invited many pro and con reactions. There are those who support and are amazed at the decision of men that they are part of women, who was not moved and wanted to have a husband like Lu Xiang who was very prioritizing his wife and did not even want to have a concubine.
The various reactions did not affect Adelia and Lu Xiang. Adelia was busy thinking about a new menu for her cake shop welcoming the spring while Lu Xiang returned to study at the Academy while preparing for his trip to the city of Fucheng which would not be long.
A few days later Xiao Wen Li Jin's wife came to visit to gossip about the news about matchmaker Lu Xiang.
"You know Adelia, there are many wives and girls who admire and even envy you. You know for yourself that being the only woman in the husband's life is our greatest hope as wives, your romantic story with Xie Hsien even made the theater troupe make a show".
Adelia was almost choked by the tea she drank. "really?"
"Yes. A lot of women who love that theater and maybe even a novel version will come out soon, you're one of Adelia's luckiest women". Xiao Wen stared in admiration and hope that he would follow in Adelia's footsteps.
Adelia's lips pulsed speechless. No one submitted any proposals regarding his household with Lu Xiang, what about the fee he should have? Can they do the show without the permission of the story owner?.
"You also include the lucky lady Xiao Wen". Adelia smiled sweetly, she heard that Li Jin only had a legitimate wife in his house, Xiao Wen.
Xiao Wen's smile slightly disappeared. "I'm not including Adelia. Li Jin just hasn't gotten a chance". The last words sounded whispered.
Adelia realizes that she is speaking wrongly and switches the conversation. "Try this cake, it's a soft chocolate gelatin cake that melts in the mouth, I want to add it to the new menu for the season". Recently he trained in making pudding cake as a menu of spring and lunch cake which is famous in Korea with unique decorations that play colors and imagination.
Xiao Wen looked at the piece of cake pudding with three harmoniously matched moka brown and white tones. He took a spoon, took a little cake pudding and ate it.
Xiao Wen's eyes widened, the smooth and soft texture that melted on his tongue astonished him, he did not even need to chew and deep swallow it after tasting the sweetness of chocolate and milk.
"It's so soft Adelia. You're going to sell it in the spring?!".
"Yes, I want to add this new menu along with a lunch cake that has various colors of flowers".
Xiao Wen imagined a colorful cake and grew curious and impatient to taste it. "You have so many brilliant ideas Adelia, I'm so amazed. If only I could be like you". She envied Adelia's ability, if she had such talent she would be able to have more status in the eyes of her husband's family.
Adelia smiled, she did not have much talent she was only lucky to have space lotus and the book she stored in it.
