Dated 15 – 18 October 2015 I and my fellow FON PSU students and lecturers conducted study visits to several places in Bangkok such as Mahidol University, Wat Bang Kung Tree Temple, and others, King Rama II Memorial Park, Chatuchak Market, Vimarnmek mansion, Amphawa Chaipattananuruk, Asiatique Night Market, The Grand Palace of Thailand, Thai Human Imagery Museum. We leave at 5.30 am from PSU to Hat yai airport for the flight departure at 08.00 to Don Mueang Bangkok airport.
Upon arrival in Bangkok we visit Mahidol University Salaya Campus to just share knowledge with friends and lecturers of Faculty of Nursing Mahidol University while eating lunch there, right at 4 pm we visit the Thai Human Imagery Museum or wax museum located in Nakhon Pathom Province, here we can find wax statues of monks – most influential Buddhist monks in Thailand, here we can find the wax sculptures of the monks, the kings of Thailand from the Chakri Dynasty from Rama I to Rama VIII, there are also some famous figures such as Abraham Lincoln, Mahatma Gandhi, Wiston Churchil and also displays of traditional Thai culture of the past.
The next day we go to The Grand Palace or Wat Phra Kaew which is known as the palace complex in Bangkok. The palace served as the official residence of the kings of Thailand from the 18th century onwards, as a place to receive state guests and religious ritual events.
The palace began construction in 1782, during the reign of King Rama I, when he moved the royal capital across the river from Thonburi to Bangkok. The palace has been expanded several times and additional buildings have been built along with the times with typical Thai and European architectural styles. Although still titled King's Palace, the present King of Thailand, King Bhumibol Adulyadej did not live in this palace, he lived in Chitralada Palace. To enter the grand palace for Thais is free but for foreign tourists we are charged 100 baht/person, it feels like a dream because I used to only see this grand palace on TV and now I can visit it.
In the evening we go to the Asiatic Night Market or the night market in the city center, before going there we take a sky train from the siam center then continue the journey using a boat to avoid traffic jams because at 5.30 is the hour to go home from the office so that traffic becomes congested and creeping, arriving at Asiatic we are spoiled with a beautiful view of Bangkok at night, in Asiatic we can shop as much as suitable for mothers who like shopping, shopping, here is also available complete various types of entertainment, especially Thai Boxing performances at 8 pm live every day, here there is also a giant flyer or wheel but not too big like in Singapore or London, we are also in fireworks entertainment.
The third day we go to Damnoen Saduak Floating Market and Ampawa Floating Market this place is the most famous floating market place in Thailand even many foreign tourists who come here, like the floating market usually here selling a variety of food, merchandise, and various souvenirs typical of Thailand are all here but the price is quite expensive because it is intended for foreign tourists, we can shop while riding the canoe and down the shop along the river at a cost of 120 baht per canoe is usually in for 6 people or 20 baht per person. We also stopped at Amphawa Chaipattanaanuruk still in the same place, here we can see various handicrafts typical of Thailand and we can also follow the manufacturing process, he said, here there is also a natural processing of various cosmetic and health products ranging from talcum powder, lipstick, sugar, salt and so on. In the evening we all went to see the firefly by boat, Ajarn explained if the firefly here is the best in the world, we also saw a lot of Caucasians who rose on the boat they looked very enthusiastic.
“ Want to know what kind of fireworks show here Dan, because according to ajar was one of the best fireworks show venues.”
“ Yes, Dan. Maybe very big, do not-don't firecrackers as big as Mbak Koming.”
I laughed at the words of Mas Saiful, we happened to be next to each other on the boat, after a few minutes we stopped in the middle of the lake to the left of which there were many fireflies.
“ You see, very beautiful,” Ajarn said to us
It turned out that the firefly in question was a firefly, Mas Saiful and I did not really listen to the explanation at the beginning because the wind was quite strong thought fireworks or firework, seeing it all Mas Saiful whispered
“Hadeh, so this is the best said Ajarn, my village people beol at the show dam yes beginning.
