Chapter 5 Statistics and Research
10 Days after the preparation course activity will be over, there is still one new Indonesian friend who came when the preparation course ended, Mas Saiful name, besides that there is still Kak Sari, maybe because the two of them are older than me I was hired by Nong ju to coordinate friends from Indonesia for departure to Thailand.
After we reached Thailand and met with Nong Ju, it turns out that he is not too old in my opinion his age is still the same age as Mas Saiful and Mbak Koming two years above me even though my shadow he is a parent like a business staff in Indonesia.
For Kak Sari I have had time to send a message via facebook to her it turns out she is still waiting for a visa because she followed the third wave with Mas Saiful, Kak Sari is the best female university lecturer in Indonesia.
Maybe not only that the reason they arrived late besides that they both had a family and had a child therefore the preparation must not be as easy as we are still bachelors.
Our lecture schedule from Monday to Friday, we have to take a lecture or course for 2 semesters and the next 2 semesters full thesis, we have to take a course, in the first semester there are several courses that we must pass the first is Eastern philosophy and nursing theories, Eastern philosophy or eastern philosophy we learn about the culture and norms of Eastern or Asian in care and health besides we also learn how to balance the body and mind, the development of nursing knowledge , concepts and theories related to multicultural nursing care, and the integration of theory in holistic nursing care.
Other courses are Statistics for Nurse which discuss probability theory, variables and measurement levels, descriptive statistics , inferential statistics including parametric and non-parametric statistics , etc , application of computer software in data processing and analysis, interpretation and presentation of statistical analysis findings, the next is Research and research utilization in which there is material on nursing phenomena, nursing knowledge development and research, quality and validity of research, design of quantitative and qualitative research as well as the development of proposed methodologies, research critiques, research ethics and utilization of research.
The last is the leadership of our department as an adult nursing, among others Advance health assessment for adults and Advanced pathophysiology and pharmacology for adults, in Advance health assessment for adults, we learn the concept of holistic health assessment regarding diversity in a cultural context, health assessment skills or anamnesis for adult patients, physical examination, laboratory examination and special examination.
While Advanced pathophysiology and pharmacology for adults we learn the concepts of occurrence of disease, pathological causes, pathophysiological changes in adult organs, signs and symptoms, principles of pharmacology and pharmacotherapeutics.
Before college I often asked the senior who also lived in the interdorm, I also went to his room specifically for the inaugural lecture tomorrow morning. Bang Ian became our vent because he was the only senior master who stayed in the interdorm, today he again explained about the lecturer who will teach us next and from there we know some Ajarn who will teach us later.

“ What do you think about this?” pointing towards the slide, though,
“Please, raise your hand,” with a smile and look us in the eye one by one,
He wanted to find out how critical our reasoning and thinking was about the meaning of the word research.
“Crazy PD ama this Saiful,” in my heart I whisper
“To find something,” says Saiful
The short answer and enough to make us all fixated on seeing it, Ajarn looked dumb maybe he thought that short the answer was the same as us.
“Good,” says Ajarn
Saying to appreciate Mas Saiful's short answer but Mas Saiful's response was bearded with a smile towards all of us as if he had given a satisfactory answer to all of us. I'm getting more amused at seeing his behavior look once if he's a caper.
Then as usual take turns one by one we give an opinion about statistics and research approximately 15 minutes later Ajarn Wongchan continued his lecture on the next slide, and then he continued, he explained in a strict manner and if any of us showed a frowning face, Ajarn did not hesitate to approach and ask questions,
“Are you understand?”.
Lectures run smoothly and easily understood because Ajarn provides the most basic understanding to the most complicated but still demanding and do not forget Ajarn advises us to read a book about Nursing Research work Polite and Back to make it easier for us to understand nursing research.
A week of lectures has passed but every material we get must be at the end of the slide there is an assignment alias assignment and start compiling the title and abstract of our research.
We all set up weeks for this week's work, I saw Kak Sari, Nepalese and Thai friends preparing for it, they learn a lot in the reading room and also the LRC Building because in these two places we can be as happy as learning while doing tasks with internet speeds that are quite fast until midnight.
But among those who were active in the reading room and the LRC I never saw Mas Saiful, this boy only came to college and after that he took the shuttle bus somewhere. Of course this makes me wonder, where he went, why he was so engrossed in his own world.
One day I asked Mike where Mas Saiful was. At that time Mike said if Mas Saiful was in the room, he cool himself like he had no burden to learn, even though this course is very decisive continuation of the thesis proposal that we submit, he said, we are all scrambling to be Ajarn Narissara's advocate and the only way for that is to score our statistical and research assignments should be good.
The day that awaited arrived, the announcement about anyone who will get guidance from Ajarn Narissara. Turns …. Mas Saiful who became the guidance of Ajarn Narissara, this is due to the abstract sent by Mas Saiful in accordance with the expertise of Ajarn, namely illness and cardiovascular disease.
While I get the same Advisor with Bang Ian, Ajarn Chinnawong or Ajarn Chin.
