The Poetry of the Butterfly Princess

The Poetry of the Butterfly Princess
Chapter 6: Discussion

The walls have been covered with a luxurious red cloth combined with a touch of gold that adorns beautiful ornaments. The dim light from the lantern darkened the corners of the room, creating a mysterious aura.

Changyi sat on a long wooden bench without being able to feel calm. Playing his fingers, he did not think how he could get into the trap of the antagonist.

"Sorry, little messy princess. Think of it as your own home" Junhui said, providing a cup of tea for Changyi.

"B, Right. Thank you" Changyi's stiff smile never disappeared from his face. In fact, he tried to run away from the young man in front of him. He really did not want to meet her at all and he had already refused to interact with her.

But for some reason, he was dragged and forced to go to his house. It was true that he was now no longer in the demon world. But that doesn't mean he wants to be in his antagonist's house either.

"Uh.. It seems I shouldn't be here. The emperor would be furious when-"

"Don't worry. The emperor won't be angry if I take you away" Sela Junhui, don't let Changyi find an excuse.

"To be honest, there are a few things I want to ask you"

Changyi's brows twitched once, knowing what Junhui wanted to ask. Instead of asking, he would interrogate her. That was why he had brought Changyi into the human world so as not to be monitored by the queen mother, ears and sky guard of Lei empire.

Bringing Changyi into the human world would naturally allow him to move far more freely.

"I'm not sure I can help you. Do you need anything from me?" Changyi asked, always in a standby position.

An ambiguous little laugh came out from Junhui's lips. Glancing at Qing Jiaohua who was puzzled to see him, he nodded his head, agreeing with Qing Jiaohua's earlier words.

"Daughter, it seems you have changed," Junhui said, displaying an intimidating grin.

"Why have you changed? I heard you wanted to cancel the wedding too. Is there a reason behind that?"

Changyi tried to think of a neutral answer. He could not give an answer that made him even more suspect. Stuck in Junhui's pressure and demands, he replied with the only sentence that came to his mind:

"Junhui Wang.. I've fallen in love with someone else"

"... What's?" Junhui widened his eyes, surprised at Changyi's words.

No, rather, these were the words that Bai Xue had spoken in her last monologue before she was killed.

Changyi recalled how he wrote this piece during the class-up exam while crying. As a single man, writing those cliche sentences felt stifling in the chest, let alone uttering.

Hearing once again, this excuse sounds incredibly silly and stupid. Thought Changyi who was crying inwardly.

"Daughter, aren't you a little selfish about canceling her wedding just because of your feelings?"

Changyi looked at Junhui thoughtfully before replying, trying to explain himself carefully.

"I will not cancel the wedding. I know how important this is to the Lei empire and the human world. However, I realized that my feelings were not entirely right for this role.

Therefore, I will only ask someone more suitable and able to replace my position."

Junhui frowned, not happy to hear that explanation. His gaze still reflected disapproval. Before he could say anything, Changyi instantly added the final blow that left Junhui silenced.

"Lagain, it's just a political issue to build 2 world bridges. The important thing is to do well and maintain good relations with other kingdoms" Changyi said in a rather cynical tone.

"You can marry anyone as long as that person is the imperial princess Lei. Does my heart and my feelings have to be a sacrifice?"

"Depending," Junhui replied as he propped up, watching Changyi closely. He did not look surprised at Changyi's sharp answer.

Marriage is just a political tool. That's not wrong. He did not deny the truth behind Changyi's statement. No decision is perfect in a situation like this.

However, not the least he felt sympathy for Changyi's reply. The look on his face still reflected disapproval.

"Daughter, just like you, I also have feelings. I'm not that low to marry whoever's available"

A faint feeling of offense on his face.

Changyi felt a small tremor, realizing the antagonist had a higher self-esteem than he had anticipated. Junhui also had feelings that could not be ignored.

"You don't love me. What's more, I feel like our attitudes are colliding with each other" Changyi said, trying to win over the argument he started.

Junhui held back his words for a moment. Tilting his head, he asked in a low voice.

"—— How do you know I don't love you?"
