Rows of motorcycles lined up in the parking lot of a restaurant.
This two-story dining house presents a beautiful view of the middle of the city when the sun goes down, covered with orange light.
"Hanna." My coworker's friend.
I also looked. "Yes Ren?"
"Call the boss." He answered while pointing to the manager's room near the cashier's desk.
I nodded and rushed towards the manager's room, putting the butcher knife on the cutting board.
While walking, I peeked at the crowd gathered at the dining tables. There are some tourists from out of town, there are also locals, but never absent, tourists from abroad.
This place is not far from the beach, which makes it more crowded every year.
I have worked here for almost five years.
Three meters away from the manager room, an overseas tourist stopped me.
"Hi! You must be the chef here?" Ask the tourist. (Hi, you must be the chef here?)
I smiled faintly, "No sir, sorry, I'm just the chef's assistant." Answer's short. (No sir, sorry. I'm just an assistant chef.)
The tourist was a mangosteen, "Is that right? My deep apologies! But still, I just have to say this to the cook, your meal is really delicious! I've never tasted anything like that!" (really? I'm sorry then. But, I must still say this to those who cook, your food is very good! I've never tasted meat like that!)
Once again I smiled as I nodded, "That's too much of a compliment sir, thank you. We just cook them like how everyone else would. No secret ingredient or any special treatment." (That's an exaggerated compliment sir, thank you. We cook it like everyone else does. No secret seasoning or special treatment whatsoever.)
The tourist smiled back, "Now, you're being too polit. Just take this compliment and don't forget to pass them along to your chef and co-worker, please." (You're being too polite. Just accept this compliment and please don't forget to tell your chef and co-workers.)
"Very well, sir!" I answered and then turned to continue my steps towards the manager's room. (Alright, sir.)
*Tok tok*tap me at the door.
"Lake in." The voice of the command was heard from inside the room.
I opened the door to the manager room and saw, Ian, our manager is busy with his computer screen.
"You call me, boss?" I asked after closing the door behind me.
Ian turned his face away from the computer screen and looked at me, "Yes, sit down." He said pointing at the chair in front of his desk.
After sitting down, I continued to pay attention to the facial expression of this superior of mine.
His face used to be full of incision wounds, but thanks to plastic surgery, his face could return to look normal, even more handsome.
Ian looked back at me, "The meat stok is coming tonight. Don't forget to put them in the cooling room and make sure everything runs smoothly." His orders firmly.
I nodded, "Okay, boss."
"Good, then get back to work."
Like Ian's orders, my boss. That night I waited until the restaurant closed to wait for the truck carrying our new stock of meat.
At 00:35 the meat truck began to park at the back door of the restaurant, where all our supplies were delivered.
I said, "Good night, Diablo."
Diablo just nodded his head.
"I received orders from the boss to wait for our new stock of meat. It's on this truckload, right?" I asked as I walked towards the cargo carriage door.
"Yes." Diablo replied in a raucous voice. "It is very difficult to get this type of meat. You guys have to be frugal when you use it."
I turned towards Diablo, "Oh, come on. I've been working here for five years and you still doubt me?
Diablo slicked his shoulder, "If you don't want to be the same fate as that man. He's even been working here for eleven years and look what he got." He answered while opening the car door.
Kevin, our chef who has been working at this restaurant for eleven years, his body was plastered hanging in a cargo car, which also contained the bodies of other humans, as well as some ordinary beef.
"You opened his intestines?" I asked Diablo while pointing to a bunch of intestines being broken out of Kevin's stomach.
"He won't shut up. I had to do it."
"You know the quality of the meat used in this place? You can't slash it freely. That's my job as an assistant chef here."
Diablo once again sniffed his shoulders.
I heaved a heavy sigh, "Have it, move them to the cooling room. We don't want the quality of this meat to diminish."
"You want to eat?" I bid on Diablo after the job was done.
"Cih, who would want to eat beef soup mixed with human meat. I'm not like you, so eat it yourself."
"Look at the soup, just now there was an outside tourist praising my cooking."
Diablo looked at me in disgust, "My job is to just prepare meat, not eat it. So stay away from me."
I'm laughing a little. "Alright, then get ready. I want three people from across that road next. Make sure they're not local."
Diablo nodded and hurried away.
I turned around and entered the kitchen. "Well, now.I can't wait to cook it.. hihihi.." My laughter filled the room, until I heard the sound of things falling in the corner of the grocery shelves.
I slowly approached the voice. And I saw someone crouching with a trembling body.
"God..Joints. What are you doing in the kitchen at night?" I relax.
But Rendi did not answer, her body still trembling.
I sighed, "Oh, come on. You've known me for five years and you're afraid of me?"
"Cup..Listen to me, Ren. I'll give you a choice, be sweet and follow all my will, or, be a grocer like Kevin."
Rendi turned her face at me with wide eyes. "Huh.."
I just smiled broadly and pulled out the butcher knife I had hidden behind my waist.
"Good night, Rendi."
