A mass of fog appeared as the horse-drawn carriage I was riding was walking through the forbidden forest.
Me: "Sir, can you see clearly the road ahead?" I asked worriedly at the coachman through a small window connected to where he was sitting out there.
The forbidden forest, was the most sinister place in this entire Kingsley kingdom. Almost rarely do people dare to pass by when the sun has set.
Then why am I here now? It was because I got a sudden call from the village next door, which was on the other side of the mountain and with the fastest way through this forbidden forest. My name is Gerard Hayle, a doctor dedicated to the benefit of society.
Reportedly a landslide occurred in the village next door and took a lot of casualties, so I did not have time to think whether it was a forbidden forest or hell that must be taken to reach the destination.
Long enough after the question I asked, there was no reply from the coachman sitting there.
Gerard: "Sir?" Call me again.
Soon there was a shock hard enough to make me bounce to the right side of my seat.
My gaze turned outward from the glass on the door, the body of the coachman moving unnaturally, like an unconscious person gradually falling to the right, and soon his body fell from the horse-drawn carriage with the carriage still running straight ahead.
Gerard: "Sir!!" My yelling.
Immediately I reached the doorknob, but when I almost opened it, a face emerged from the roof of the carriage and looked up into the carriage. A female?!
Why are there women up there?!
Gerard: "N-mom..what are you doing up there, not rather how are you going to be up there?"
The woman's skin was very pale, her muscle nerves could even be seen very clearly. His eyes look shiny red, and-wait, what's on his mouth lips dar.ah?
The woman dropped her body from the roof, her hands nailed to a pole on the train, then brought her body back by kicking the door, opening it from the outside forcefully which resulted in shards of glass beginning to fly in the air.
I quickly folded my hands and used them to protect my face from the glass. In just seconds, I felt the collar of the shirt I was wearing being pulled forward very quickly. His strength makes no sense.
Both of my hands that I used as shields earlier are now wide open because they are so shocked by the sudden movement. She put the woman's face clearly.
The woman smiled, "Hmm, quite handsome as well as you, I will make it my slave after I finish tasting the taste of your blood. I hope you're as good as you look. Ahahaha!!"
Tasting...my blood?
Oh no. It's not all a myth!! Those bloodsuckers really live among us!!
Finish my history.
I will end up like a coachman who has long fallen from the train..
Or so I was thinking, when suddenly there was the sound of a gun exploding and darting rapidly.
Within seconds, the woman clutching the collar of my shirt spewed blood all over my face, then her body slowly fell on her stomach onto the floor.
Still clueless as to the situation, I just stood there, silently looking at the body of the woman who was now lying dead on the floor, even though I should have immediately run away from that place.
"Defender."
Suddenly a voice emerged from the door of the train. Another woman?!
He leisurely walked past me and crouched down to check the body of the woman lying on the floor, then stood up and looked at me.
He had the same physique as the woman, pale skin, shiny red eyes, only there was no blood on the lips of his mouth.
Gerard: "You.. d-he.. are you guys together?!!" I stammered.
Annie wore a white shirt suit and a black skirt that was knee-length, then wrapped in a black suit that was along her ankles. He also wore black boots. A belt containing a gun wrapped in leather cloth was also plastered from behind his suit, hanging over his waist.
Gerard: "Then why are you, why did you kill that woman if you were of the same species?"
Annie: "Seriously?"
Annie walked up to me and sat across from where I was standing, and then she hinted me to come sit opposite her, which I would do anyway.
Annie: "So I told you, right, defector."
Gerard : "Dealot?"
Annie: "Yes."
Gerard: "What does that mean?"
Annie: "Defender, the one who opposes the decision. If you humans have your kingdom, of course we have our own kingdom. Recently a royal successor was appointed to lead our kingdom, and those who defected, boom, as you just saw."
Gerard: "Wait, I don't understand.."
Annie: "Ah, man.." she lamented.
Annie: "Our new queen has a rule that must be obeyed by all people, which is not to suck human blood openly. And this woman, she did it in the village across the mountain, some people saw it, and to eliminate the sanctions, he made it seem as if there had been a landslide there by kicking some large rock that rolled down and fell on the sanctions."
So that's what happened actually..is not a landslide that occurred because of nature but from deliberate intent to cover up his actions?
Gerard: "So, thank you for saving me, Annie."
"Aahaha!"
Annie laughed at my words.
Gerard: "Why? What's wrong?"
Annie: "I never said that I would save your life, after all that woman is right, you have a very decent look." Annie said as she moved towards me.
Gerard: "Hiii!!"
Within seconds everything went dark.
Annie: "Hey, let's get up~ night is here."
Gerard: "U-ugh." I opened my eyes slowly. Now I was in a very spacious room, filled with very expensive antiques.
Annie: "I brought you breakfast~" Annie said as she handed me a tray containing a glass and a piece of grilled meat.
I took the glass from the tray.
Gerard: "Thank you, baby. This blood is very fresh. So yummy. You're really good at choosing."
Annie: "Haha, of course."
Since one month ago I realized in this room, I have no memory of my previous life.
I don't care about my previous life anyway, because I can live here with my beloved Annie. Annie, the Queen of the Vampire Kingdom.
