–Imam Ahmad Rahimahullah said ‘Aqiqah is the sunnah of Rasulullah shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam. He did it for Hasan and Hushain. His friends did too. And from Hasan bin Samurah radhiyallahu’anhu,
Rasulullah shallallahu’alaihi wasallam said, “All born children are pawned with ‘aqiqahya.” (HR Abu Dawud, At Tirmidhi and An Nasa’i).
So it is inappropriate, if a father does not do ‘aqiqah for his son. (Al Muntaqa Min Fatawa Shaykh Shalih Fauzan (3/194)).

Rasulullah shallallahu’alaihi wasallam, he said,”Goat ‘aqiqah slaughtered on day 7 or to 14 or to 21.” (Shahihul Jami’us Shaghir no: 4132 and Baihaqi IX: 303).
"However, there are some scholars, including Shaykh Shalih Al Fauzan and Shaykh Ibn ‘Utsaimin argue that it is permissible to do ‘aqiqah in addition to the above time without restrictions so that based on this opinion, it is permissible to do so, so parents who have not been able at those times can postpone it when they have been able to do aqiqah."
"Then about how many Goats is it? From ‘Aisyah radhiyallahu’anha, she said,”Rasulullah shallallahu’alaihi wasallam once told us to cut aqiqah 2 goats for boys and 1 goat chores for girls.” (Tirmidhi )
