Arumi was feeling immeasurable happiness. Being able to hug her daughter before bed was what she desperately wanted during her four years in seclusion. Living in a yearning that seemed capable of killing him every day.
And now she can hug Aika as she pleases. Giving attention and affection to a mother who had never obtained Aika.
"Why haven't you slept yet, honey?" arumi asked after Aika never closed her eyes. Drowsiness was clearly visible in his eyes.
"If I go to sleep, Mommy will go again." That innocent speech made Arumi's heart like it was slashed.
"No, Son. Mommy will stay here with you."
"Promise, Mommy!"
Arumi gave a thin smile. Since returning from the hospital, I don't know how many times Aika said the same thing.
"Promise, Honey. Now sleep, yes. It's night. Tomorrow's school, right?"
Aika further immersed her body into the embrace of the mommy. The embrace she felt was so warm and comfortable.
"Mommy, can daddy sleep here with us?"
For a moment Arumi was silent. Thinking of an acceptable answer Aika. "Not yet, dear."
"Why, Mommy?"
Arumi looked at her daughter full of probes. Each of Aika's innocent sayings contained a mystery. "Is this your secret with daddy again?"
"No. Daddy didn't tell you about this secret, Mommy."
"Alright, Sweetheart. Then let this be our secret. Now go to sleep, mommy will tell you a story."
Intending to distract Aika, the little girl immediately nodded in agreement. Arumi tells a story from a fairy tale that managed to deliver Aika to the dreamland.
"Good sleep, my son." He buried a kiss on the cheek and wrapped the little body in a blanket.
After making sure Aika was really asleep, Arumi took off the veil that covered her face all day. Then move out of the room to the kitchen. Talking at length with Aika earlier made her rather thirsty.
While passing through the television room, the figure lying on the sofa managed to steal his attention. Hey, it turns out that arrogant master Rafli hasn't come home yet.
Now the man is sleeping on the couch. The sleeping position that Arumi thinks is very uncomfortable, but strangely Rafli instead looks very sound. The other hand covers part of the face, while the other hand holds a television remote control with football.
"His habits haven't changed either." Arumi still remembers Rafli's habits. He likes to watch football sports until late and finally fell asleep on the sofa.
Slowly Arumi approached. For a few moments, he looked at the man's face. Seeing Rafli's feet still in his shoes, he helped take them off. Then go into the room and look for a blanket in the closet. In a matter of minutes, Arumi had returned and put on a blanket.
Unwittingly, a faint smile rises at the corner of Rafli's lips.
"He hasn't changed a bit at all" he said in his heart.
Just as Arumi was about to return to the room, Rafli had already withdrawn his hand. Make Arumi's steps stop.
"No. I really fell asleep. I woke up because you took off my shoes, "he replied, then changed the position that was originally lying down to sit.
"Don't misunderstand me. I'm not showing any attention. I just don't want your shoes dirtying the couch."
"I know," replied Rafli. "Can we sit down to talk for a minute?" This is an opportunity for Rafli to have a serious talk with Arumi. It just so happens that the other residents of the house are already sleeping.
Arumi let out a long sigh, then sat in the corner of the other sofa. "What do you want to talk about?"
"About the secret that Aika had just told me."
Rafli shifted the sitting position until the two were in a slightly closer position.
For a while Rafli was silent. It's like choosing the right words. Enough's been a farewell for four years, which makes it a longing warehouse. Now he does not want to lose anymore and will do anything to get forgiveness from Arumi.
"I know you may not have forgiven my mistakes. That night I was very angry and disappointed to discover that the person who lived with me for a year turned out to be a stranger."
Arumi also realized that this situation was not the fault of Rafli completely. Rafli was just a man who had been ripped off.
"Everything's happened. There's no point in talking about it anymore."
Rafli clasped Arumi's hand. The woman immediately withdrew her hand, but Rafli grasped it very tightly. Things that make Arumi's heart pumped fast.
"Then can we start everything from scratch? Let's get married and raise Aika together."
Arumi remained silent. It never occurred to me that Rafli would be this bright and ask her to get married.
"Not answering now. I will not force. I know we all need time. If only Yuna hadn't manipulated our matchmaking maybe today things would have been different."
Within seconds, a pair of Arumi's eyeballs were inundated with clear liquid. Remembering all the evil that Yuna had done to her. Starting from trapping him on the first night of marriage with Rafli, lying to him about their mother, to turning the facts and making him expelled and exiled.
Had her twin brother not been evil, Arumi might now be the happiest woman in the world.
Rafli wiped away the tears that flooded both sides of Arumi's cheeks. The woman was still sobbing for a while.
"I'm sorry" whispered Rafli.
"It's not your fault entirely. It's just that I can't marry you."
Rafli's body was like an electric current heard Arumi's reply. He hoped that what he heard was just a joke Arumi.
"Why can't it? We can give Aika a family and raise her together."
Arumi wiped away the remaining tears. Take a deep breath. But strangely, the tears just got bigger. Rafli was confused.
"Everything's too late. I've been bound by a deal that I can't break" Arumi said, still sobbing.
