You Are My Sunshine

You Are My Sunshine
Prologues

On my 21st birthday, my house had an uninvited guest. This is the first time I've met him. She was wearing a soft lace dress in white, the label of her dress had not even been removed and was hanging on the inconspicuous side of the dress. Both of his shoulders looked tense, his right hand continued to pull the tip of his father's shirt carefully, looking so frightened and helpless.

Then Mom and Dad introduced her to me. Her name is Vivi Kumala, she's the same age as me and is their biological daughter.

At a time like this, maybe I should have shown a surprised expression. But the truth is, I've been aware of the awkwardness with Mom and Dad since a month ago, exactly when they often go out together with suspicious looks.

Since childhood, Om and my neighbor's aunt have often said that I don't look like my parents. They said girls should look like their fathers, but I didn't have wide eyes and a thick mouth like Dad, what's more a round and cute face. I also did not inherit any advantages or disadvantages from both my parents. Sometimes they like to joke that I may be swapped with their biological children while in the hospital. Until a month ago when they saw the results of my prenuptial health check, all the mysteries were solved.

I am not my parents' biological child, nor is it the child they adopted, but rather the child they exchanged.

At this moment, the tiny and weak Vivi stood in front of me. He stood between Father and Mother with his head slightly bowed. Although I could not see her eyes clearly, I was sure that she was indeed my parents' biological daughter. The round face, long eyebrows, and filled earlobes that the three of them had together seemed to form a wall in front of me, the same blood-stained wall, which blocked me outside.

Mom pulled him to sit down, then waved to me, "Wenny, sit down first."

"Wenny, I know this news very well..." Dad seemed hesitant, "But if Mom and Dad don't do that, we'll regret it for life."

Father expressed his guilt to me indirectly. His tone was very low, just like when he was cast as a businessman on an ordinary day. The next half hour, I sat glued to my feet while listening to their explanation and apology. Throughout the process, my gaze continued on Vivi. He looked at Mother, occasionally turning to Father, as if the debt of 21 years had been paid off in this short reunion. Mother held her hand affectionately, while Father groaned for finally rediscovering what had long disappeared.

This is a family reunion that has nothing to do with me. After rediscovering their switched biological daughter in the hospital, they gave me two options, either continue to be their daughter or return to my biological parents' side.

Right now I inevitably have to admit that the old man sitting in front of me has become an adoptive parent. They did not leave me, but anyway, they would definitely bring Vivi home to take my place, as well as give her the life path they had originally prepared for me.

When my heart was filled with complicated feelings mixed together, the doorbell suddenly rang. Mom stood up to open the door. The one who came was Jerry Hersey, my fiancee.

Jerry's appearance made the situation even more awkward. His left hand held the birthday gift he prepared for me, while his right hand hugged a large bouquet of roses. He entered with a cheerful smile, while Father and Mother hurriedly wiped away the tears and greeted him. I stood stiffly. At this moment, I finally saw Vivi's face clearly. He stood with me. His gaze moved from Jerry towards me, so that our two pairs of eyes met. Waves did not appear to ripple at the bottom of both of our hearts, once at a time.
