The Hard Life Lovely Lives

Eight months later.

Lovely lives in a simple rented house Jenar provided when she left for America. And he lives alone without anyone's company, even Lovely lives his life so hard. His father, who sent him to America to continue his education and stay away from family, only paid his tuition. The father did not give him any more money or meal money during his eight-month stay in America. As a result, Lovely had to slam bones to just buy his textbooks there and also pocket money to fill his stomach. The eighteen-year-old girl had no savings at all. The thirty million dollars he raised during his first school run out last month to pay for his rent over the next year. Apparently to live there, Lovely had to pay the house money first for the future. Unlike in Indonesia, you can pay your contract every month. Even so, Lovely felt relieved and could breathe a little because she did not think about the problem of her residence.

Today, Lovely came to Mrs Margaret's house. Every day, he becomes a washerman who is ready to be called at any time. Lady Margaret was a neighbor next door to Lovely's rented house. The middle-aged woman was a very nice person, and Lovely had no trouble working there because of Lady Margaret's kindness to her. Maybe because they are citizens. Lady Margaret is just like Lovely. The Indonesian who settled in America, but the difference, Lovely lived in America because of force, while Mrs Margaret lived there because she followed the nationality of her husband.

Lovely is now in Lady Margaret's laundry. The clothes piled up there had been waiting for him ever since. Tiredness hit Lovely because before coming to the place of Lady Margaret, he came first to the house of Mrs Briella to be a janitor-cleaner house there. Even so, Lovely still eager to do his job. One by one the coloured clothes he separated from the white clothes of Lady Margaret. Occasionally, he stood up straight while rubbing his sore waist to make it more enjoyable.

Her belly was large due to her old pregnancy, making it difficult to move freely but Lovely never complained of it. He rubbed his stomach if he felt uncomfortable.

In the midst of Lovely's bustle, Lady Margaret comes to assign a new assignment to Lovely. And Lovely, who had been sitting down to rest, stood up when she saw Lady Margaret coming, just keeping her manners to Lady Margaret.

“Lovely, when you're done. Please help me wash the dishes! I'll add the payment!”

“Oh yes, earlier you were not repotinated with Mrs Briella right?” ask Mrs Margaret who is worried about Lovely if she comes to Mrs Briella's house because she knows that Mrs Briella is an angry person. Small and big problems will be addressed by him.

“Thank God he doesn't fuck with you! If he plays physically, you tell me. I'll reply him to you.” Lady Margaret pity Lovely who lives alone in a country where people are pregnant, even had to slam bones for himself so he would be the front man defending Lovely from the likes of Mrs Briella.

“Iya Mistress. Thanks for your attention!” Lovely felt very lucky to meet with Lady Margaret, and he considered that Lady Margaret was the good fortune sent by God for her who lived in the country. Moreover, Mrs Margaret is Indonesian. Lovely as if with her mother.

“Ready Mistress!”

Margaret left Lovely alone there. Then, two hours later. Lovely had finally finished her work, and she had also eaten the food that Lady Margaret had prepared for her.

Lovely standing in front of Lady Margaret's house. He smiled as he stroked his big belly. “My son, today we continue to exercise again yes. Anyway my son has to stay strong so mom can get a lot of money and we can eat meat!”

After encouraging the child in her stomach, Lovely continued her activities today. He left for college by bus halfway. He stopped at the second stop and, having to take a taxi from the second stop to his campus, Lovely chose to walk. Actually he is still tired and wants to continue to ride the car but he prefers to walk because he wants to save money. Instead of having to take a taxi to campus that certainly takes a lot of money, it is better to be a little difficult to eat the meat that he craves.

“But race! One kilo road, really draining!” lament Lovely who arrived at the University of Chicago. He entered after adjusting his breath well. At that campus, he did not get insults and scorn from people. No one there cares how he is. They even greet each other if one major and one class. One of the happiness of Lovely living abroad is because the views of people there are very different from those in Indonesia. And another happiness, Lovely did not get any more pressure from his family, nor his school friends.

Five days later. While working at Mrs Briella's house, Lovely suddenly wanted to give birth, but there were still five days left the date her obstetrician determined. Fortunately, Mrs Briella still has a conscience. She drove Lovely to the Hospital and even waited until Lovely finished giving birth to her child.

Lady Margaret also came to the Hospital after hearing from Mrs Briella that Lovely gave birth in the hospital. The two middle-aged women became Lovely's companion at the Hospital, and their attitude was like that of Lovely's in-laws and birth mothers who were waiting for the birth of their grandchildren.

“Thank you madam, madam! You two have always been good to me. Even accompanied me until now!” lovely said she shed her tears.

“That's because I don't want to lose a reliable washerman like you,” said Mrs Briella.

“Sama-sama Lovely's. I'm also happy to be here, accompanying you. And your son is very funny. He held my fingers. Maybe he thinks I'm the oma,” added Mrs Margaret.

Lovely smiled looking at the two mistresses. Then tenderly and affectionately, she kissed her baby's forehead.
